Nando's is a chain of restaurants specializing in Portuguese/Mozambican Peri-Peri Chicken. This is chicken flavored with a peri-peri sauce made with African Bird's Eye Chilies, which can pack a serious punch. The ordering and payment system here was streamlined (done via QR code), and everything was prepared and brought out in short order. The highlight, of course, was the Peri-Peri Chicken, which came in many forms/cuts, and I got the half chicken, a skin-on, bone-in breast and leg piece. You can also select a spice level ranging from Plainish (Extra Mild) to Extra Hot, and I went for extra hot, just to see how much heat they could bring. But that's not all! At the self-serve counter were even more sauces, including wild herb, lemon & herb, and garlic, along with peri-peri sauces of all different spice levels, so you could experiment with many different flavor combinations. Along with the chicken, I also got the Rainbow Bowl, a combination of several vegetarian sides including spiced grains & butternut squash, long-stem broccoli, hummus, pickled golden carrots, and rainbow slaw (shredded cabbage and carrots in a tangy dressing), sprinkled with pumpkin and sunflower seeds. I've always enjoyed Nando's and would nearly always have either the red pepper dip or the hummus as a starter and a nata to finish. I'm probably in the minority by being a great fan of the chicken livers. These mix particularly well with the macho peas, as they also did with the sadly-discontinued luso beans (bring them back). I had livers on my most recent visit with the peas and supergrains as my sides. Supergrains are spoiled for me by the rather cloying mayo that comes on top of them. Pity about that. One of the nicest things to happen at Nando's in recent years has been the introduction of peri pomegranate dressing. Please retain that. read more

I know, it's a chain. I should NOT be giving a fast food chain my 5 stars... but I have to. I love this Nando's. You know what you are getting with Nando's, but for those who have never been, it is a Portuguese chicken joint. They do chicken, and lots of it. For those of you who don't like chicken (what are you doing in Nando's?!) Only joking... There is also a steak burger, and also veggie options. There is a special menu for Kids, great sides, normal and fino (posh) such as Sweet Potato Wedges and creamy mash (absolutely amazing!!) It is slightly more expensive than the wide range of other fast food restaurants we have available, but in my opinion, it's worth it. You get what you pay for, and I have to say that in the MANY times I've eaten in here, I've never had a bad meal. The staff are fantastic and super hard working and run the place like a military operation, which is a good thing, as it sometimes gets really busy. Word of warning, at peak times you can sometimes be queued out the door, but as I said earlier in my review, they are worth it! read more

Trying to eat vegan at Nando's is tricky but not impossible. The menu is cluttered and not easily read - vegetarian items are marked but not vegan. However, a waitress helpfully obtained their allergens list and was able to check which dishes didn't contain dairy or egg. I ordered the Supergreen burger (broccoli, edamame beans & kale) on a bun with lettuce, tomato (no mayonnaise) plus a side of chips. This plus a bottle of water cost just over £10, which was expensive for fast-food cooked from frozen. It was all a bit bland and the burger slightly mushy but did stave off my hunger. I never seem to enjoy Nando's spice levels, whatever I choose, it's either too spicy or too bland. Whilst good to know a few vegan options exist here, I wouldn't rush back. read more

This was my 1st time here and it well and truly exceeded my expectations. We were greeted and seated straight away. We arrived at about 17:30 on a Wednesday night and got a table for 3 no problem but when we were leaving it was absolutely packed. The atmosphere, decor and themed music were perfect. The waitress explained the ordering process for us. The menu has plenty of options available, initially I found it hard to read or understand but it was grand. We got the sharing starter which was a selection of 3 other starters. We had wings, drumsticks and garlic bread and they were all very tasty. For my main I had the boneless thighs in medium peri peri, I'm a spice wimp and this was pretty hot. Tasted fab. The Sangria was beautiful too. The sauces on the side that you just help yourself too are good, especially the garlic and herb. For 3 starters, 3 mains with 2 sides each, 2 refillable soft drinks and 2 sangria our meal was less than £60 total. Can't wait to try it again! read more

Mmm... Nandos This particular branch has been open since around the turn of the year. It is located close to the cinema, opposite the Wetherspoons, on the way to the city centre (i.e it is located perfectly!) There is a branch of this in Victoria Square and that's were I first experienced Nandos. It was good! This one however is marginally better. The staff aren't as full-on as they were in V.S and the food didn't take as long. And the restaurant wasn't as cold. We were near frozen in V.S. Plus I tried the extra hot sauce in this particular branch and kind of fell in love with it. I do like Nandos and this one for me has the edge. It is newer and it has a fresher feel about it. read more

You know what you are going to get with Nanados, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. We popped in last night for a quick bite before the cinema and were a little surprised to find a queue. The staff were really pleasant, the queue moved fast and we found ourselves seated at a lovely little booth round the back. I ordered a quarter chicken with chips and spicy rice, and for a good sized serving it was really reasonable at just over 7 quid. The medium spice is pretty spicy, but as you can see by my plate, there were no complaints! If you need a bit of relaxed, cheap sustenance in the area, Nandos is the place to go. Or if you are a teenager on a date- there was plenty of them too, bless them! read more

Great place. Simple meals, lots of food. It's all about the south Africa hot spices you season your food with. Tables are a little too close together. If you're not in the mood for rubbing elbows with strangers maybe go somewhere else, otherwise, good time and good chicken. read more

Note to tourists: Belfast spends its Sundays in what resembles a hungover state. The pubs don't start serving 'til 12.30pm, the shops don't open 'til 1pm, most restaurants are shuttered up in the evening, and the nightlife is pretty dead. We wandered the streets in search of some action. Having been stood up by a hot Argentinean restaurant, an eager taxi driver motored us to Nando's, a dependable Portuguese alternative. We were instantly energised by the lively Latino music, the friendly, helpful staff, and the large, nicely decorated interior. I compared the lights hanging from the high ceiling to condoms. My friend couldn't comprehend how I couldn't see that they were chillis. Spot the one with the dirty mind. We both ordered the beanie burger. Mine was medium, hers was hot. When mine was pretty damn hot, I wasn't surprised when my friend started crying, gulping down the South African Merlot, and gasping for water. She only managed half. The peri peri chips were yummy, as was the dessert- vanilla ice cream with toffee-chilli sauce. My friend stayed away from the chilli and ordered the cooling mango sorbet instead. The Espresso tasted like more. We had great conversation and were the last to leave. We even spotted a couple of the waiters getting their coats before us. But we never once felt pressurised to hurry up. So, forget that moody South American, and go for the trustworthy Portuguese instead. Reliable isn't always boring. read more

My girlfriend just loves getting herself a dosage of vitamin C as much as she can.In our little world that C stands for chicken however, which leads me to this Nando's! The restaurant is only open a year and is very close to the cinema and Auntie Annies, where I suspect the business hopes to draw a lot of its custom in from! As can be expected from a new restaurant the interior is clean and attractive, and the layout is clear.Nando's is a relatively new thing to Norn Iron, with the branch at Victoria Square introducing us to it, but this location has a much better chance to reach a wider audience. If you like a little kick with your food and don't mind getting your hands dirty then you will have a blast here. The staff are friendly and attentive and the food is great, with flavoursome sides to accompany whatever chicken dish you feel suits your tastes the most. The selections for desert aren't too good but that is a minor quibble, as once you have finished your mains you can be ready to stuff your face with some popcorn in the cinema nearby anyway! read more

This restaurant is always bustling with business due to it's close proximity to both the cinema and purveyor of cheapest of cheapo drinks, Weatherspoons. Don't go here if you don't like spicy food. Or chicken. Or spicy chicken for that matter! I'm not as mad for Nando's as some other people seem to be but they do a fine line in casual dining. An ideal place to come with a group, Nando's has a friendly atmosphere and won't leave a hole in your pockets. The Peri Peri chicken is their speciality and with 5 chicken wings at £4.65 you can't go wrong. There are also a delicious choice of pittas, wraps and burgers to choose from, with moreish sides like spicy rice and corn on the cob. Order one of their Brazillian beers to wash your spicy feast with. read more

As I'm pretty sure I have said in other reviews - I don't like Nando's. I feel lonely in this opinion because everyone else on earth seems to like it. I can't get on board with it at all. I think it is rubbish. The food is basically stale, oven chips and the like. I really don't like it but I'm often dragged to this place though because its so close to the cinema and to some bars and clubs in the middle of town. The food in here is rubbish and the service is not much better. The only thing that can be said for this branch is that the service isn't as bad as the one in Victoria Square but that isn't saying much because it is literally the worst service I have ever had anywhere. As soon as my husband and I walked in, I thought, "We're too old for this place. Everyone here is young and hip." But we were made to feel welcome, the thought-provoking menu cover intrigued me, and I enjoyed the music. The food turned out to be delicious. The grilled chicken was divine, the mashed potatoes and cole slaw were very fresh, and the soda was self-help but bottomless. The chocolate cake and ice cream were just okay, but who cares? People really do seem to have been bitten by the Nando's bug but to be honest I think it's going to take a while for the newness to wear off and people will just take it for granted as a normal, everyday chain restaurant. England and Wales have had Nando's for a mightily long time and the initial interest and appeal has long since faded. This newly opened store sits in a towering mini skyscraper which seems to have found it extremely difficult to gain any clients since the recent collapse of everything financial. It does the usually raft of peri-peri chicken which is actually quite good. The sides are hit and miss but for the love of god do not try the cheesecake. Lets put it like this, have you ever had cheesecake that's been taken straight out of the freezer and then defrosted in the microwave. Well what happens is a taste explosion Heston would be proud of. Nando's is great if you love spicy food and chicken. That said, every time I visit it tends to be quite busy. Most of the time the service is pretty good. I've been here before in a party of about ten and seven of us had finished by the time the food for the other three had arrived. As a party of three the food still took a while but it's understandable given the freshness of the food. When it does arrive, though, the food is delicious and they've quite a few different dishes. If you like this sort of food, I'd definitely recommend but not if you're in a rush. read more

First experience of Nando's. The staff were super friendly, the decor was once attractive now a bit worn. As for the food, not blown away. The portions are meagre especially the rice, which was tiny.
