This is perhaps the most copyright-infringing imitation of all three - the same little chicken logo, the same flame-grilled chicken offerings, and the same system of offering a choice of 'side' or, in Charco's case, 'sideline' (chips, rice, wedges etc). The menu is basically the same as Nando's too - you can get a serving of wings, or a half or quarter chicken, or a chicken breast in a pitta, as well as salas and platters and the like. How does it measure up to Nando's? Well, the food is cheaper, the service is quicker, and it's never as busy as Nando's always seems to be. The food isn't quite as nice, but it's still good and offers somewhere nice to sit down for a meal near the university, which is quite a rarity. And top marks for plagiarism.

Both my friend and I found that the staff were really unprofessional, unfriendly and spoke in a really intimidating way to customers. It really was a horrible experience compared to the KFC I visit back home. To say it had only just opened as we pulled into the car park, the whole 'restaurant' was a mess with paper napkins all over the floor, spillages and a lack of sauces. Though the food is inspired by McDonald's, it's a lot greasier and more akin to that of the late night takeaway rather than the reputable (?) high street brand. It is cheaper in some areas however - you can get a full on burger meal deal for under £3, and similar bargains in the fried chicken range. There's an outdoor seating area but it's hardly picturesque, and the interior isn't as efficiently clean as it might be in the place Mahmood's is trying to emulate. I was passing chicken express and decided to give it a go. I had to do a double take at the price list. £1.99 for 2 pieces of fried Chicken, fries and can of Pepsi. That can't be right I thought! I love fried chicken so that was what I ordered. The elderly lady who took my order was lovely and this is obviously a family run business. There was a steady trickle of people so I had to wait while my fries were cooked. I don't mind that because it means everything is fresh. Sure enough a couple of minutes later I received 2 pieces of lovely juicy chicken, piping hot fries and a can of Pepsi! What an absolute bargain. There are seats and tables if you wish to eat in as I did because it was raining outside. When I left the old lady smiled and said goodbye, charming. They have lots of meal deals on chicken, burgers, pizzas, kebabs etc... and for the prices they are charging it would be rude not to go back!
