We definitely did not fancy having it in the function room of a hotel or in the local village hall. We came across Special Event Tipis on the internet as they are based near to where we live. We asked them for a quote along with some of their competitors. They gave us a great price but most importantly they got back to us really promptly and were extremely friendly. They never tried to pressure us an invited us to go and meet them at an open day. Once we saw the Tipis for ourselves we had to have them. They are absolutely stunning in themselves however David and his team have found out how to make them look their best. They have lighting rigs, fairly lights, disco balls etc which integrate really well. They were also able to provide a sound system which was AMAZING. We opted for a two Tipi setup with one as a dance floor and the other as a seating area with fire pit. The fire was a real focal point on the night of the party. David and his team were a pleasure to deal with both in the build up to the event and during set up / take down. Go and see them for yourself at one of their open days, you will see what I mean.

I had the best tomato soup I've ever had for our starter, and the portion of lamb was GIGANTIC - made it hard not to pop the seams of my wedding dress!! The only thing stopping this hotel from getting a 5 rating is some of the staff. No one was ever UNfriendly, but they could definitely work on being more forthcoming with information and more pleasant at the reception. Whenever I asked questions, the receptionist (not the same one either - all of them except one) always had the attitude that I was inconveniencing her greatly. Also, the rooms are a BIT outdated (though perfect comfortable with all mod cons - I just mean the decor) and the advertised spa bath was just a tiny bathtub with jets! It was our first stop after arriving in London and our home base for the Lake District National Park. We were looking for a hotel outside of town with parking and this place was perfect. The hotel and facilities were clean and well maintained. The reception was a little tricky to find, but during the day it should be fine. We got there around 3am and were at a door on the wrong side of the hotel, so I called the desk and the night person actually walked all the way through the hotel to the other side to come get me ... How's that for service! Overall we had a very pleasant stay and I would definitely recommend if you're looking for a chain hotel in the area, but not right in the heart of town.
