Being wrapped up in my own dilemma, I failed to get the name of the man running the store - I regret that because he was an incredible help. We ordered the new alternator to be delivered the next day and I managed to buy just the right tools that I was missing so I could replace the alternator myself. He had no problem with me working on it in the parking lot - just had to get it done before the end of the day. He even came out once to check on how it was going, offered some advice about an issue I had getting the new alternator back on the swing arm and loaned me a few tools that really helped in getting the job done. My water pump sprung a leak at the summit of Hwy89 and I was holding my breath the whole way down. We were on our way to a wedding and caught him before lunch- he was able to diagnose the problem, and within a few hours he had the part delivered (impressive when the nearest auto supply store is 30 miles away) and ready to go before dinner. Nothing is more annoying that waiting for a pump. There are plenty of pumps and the wait times are short, if any. They have little knick-knack/souvenir items inside along with your regular snacks, drinks, water, coffee, etc. Inside the store. Not a bad place to stop.
