I've now been stranded at least 7 times in a year. I've followed Subaru's instructions after jump‑starting: leave the car on for an hour to let it recharge the 12 V. Despite that, the problem keeps coming back. I don't leave high‑draw accessories plugged in, and this started very early in the car's life. At around 10,000 miles I reported the problem to Subaru during scheduled service, so there is a documented history. I've since learned that this is not an isolated fluke: Law firms and owners are pursuing class‑action cases alleging that Subaru Solterra and Toyota bZ4X models have a defective 12‑volt system that lets the small auxiliary battery drain and die prematurely, leaving drivers stranded even with plenty of charge in the main pack. They were very professional and got my car in and done quickly. My car is an older 92 Miata but is kept in great shape and passed no problems. I would have given a 5 star review if the price for the inspection was a little more reasonable. It was $320 for the inspection but you have to have it done in order to title your car if insurance claims it a salvage. This was for a Miata that the hard top was stolen so the insurance totaled the car even though there was nothing wrong with it.

I've almost been hit multiple times, have seen other cars be almost hit by those trying to get to Duncan's. They also park the cars in a way that blocks the sidewalk. This is dangerous during the times when middle schoolers are walking and riding bikes past Blake. You can't see them coming! Duncan's doesn't have much control over how their customers drive, but they can give them better directions AND instruct their employees to not use Blake like their own personal entrance.

He said it would be about an hour since I was the second one in first thing in the morning. After 2.5 hours I get a call that I'm going to need $900 in repairs including a new timing belt, filter, and battery. I was really surprised by the battery since I haven't had any issues or lags when starting the car. I asked him to look at the date on the battery since I've only had the car for 9ish months and wasn't sure when it was last replaced. Said they weren't able to see the date but that the reading was coming back in the red. I told him to return my old battery to me bc I wanted to keep it, but to switch it out. When I picked up my car, I reminded Luis I wanted my old battery. The date was 02/2025, so I also asked for the read out showing my battery was in the red. He disappeared into the shop and never brought it back. I took the battery to O'Reilly to test it next day and it was totally good, Luis straight up lied. I went back to Skip's, showed Owen the O'Reilly read out, demanded they take their battery out and put my original battery back, and refund my money. It was $275 for the new battery! I told them it was disgraceful to be out here scamming women who come to the shop, and I would be telling the people I know who have been going to this shop religiously for years to be VERY careful if they continue to go here (I talked to them and they won't be returning). Owen was understanding and said he would be formally writing Luis up for this and that the shop is under new management, but this is unacceptable and I do not trust that any of the recommended work was actually necessary and I still shelled out $600 for what should have just been an oil change. TLDR: be prepared to be told you need extra repairs that you do NOT need, especially a new battery. Keep all parts if you do go through with repairs here and confirm the work was needed (keep the old battery and get it tested yourself next door at O'Reilly for free). They see a single woman walk in and see dollar signs. Disgusting.
