The original fountain in Napfplatz, constructed in 1567-68, stood for over 300 years. It was first replaced in 1876. The current pillar and the sculpture on top of it by Arnold Hünerwadel and Johann Riegendinger, respectively, were installed sequentially in 1911 and 1937.
It is situated in a nice plaza with a restaurant, hotel and retail shopping. In November 2021, there is some construction here. It will be nicer soon.
The fountain features the usual bowl and has two spigots with flowing water. The water is drinkable though I would recommend only drinking from the flowing water and not the basin.
