They have cakes and fresh pasta (very cheap in price). You can have special orders. Nice ambiance and decor. The bad: Not much bad, really. I would have liked descriptive cardboards in front of the pastries so we can read the description. For Valentine, I had their cupcakes: chocolate, vanilla. The chocolate cupcake was dry. The bottom of the cake was sticking on the cupcake paper. They seem to have changed recipe of their chocolate cakes. The vanilla cupcake was better, although not soft, nor moist. The frosting tasted like shortening rather than buttercream.

The sign said baklava, simit (Turkish bagels), böreg (cheese phyllo), Turkish coffee etc. So the place is obviously a Turkish specialty pastry/bakery/café which apparently in business since 1990 but this place itself been here for just under a year. I didn't ask more questions pertaining to this so really don't have a clue about its history. Upon entering the place, you can't miss how clean, contemporary it is with hints of Turkish influence on the chandeliers. As you approach the counter, you can sense the cleanliness even more and also the effort put into the the presentation of their baklavas in an appetizing slick way. Good job and 5 star so far for the latter and also for having enough varieties plus the friendly and nice service I received. It loses a star however bcs of the "Taste" issue. Although the presentation and general looks of the baklavas were top notch, they stopped short (not that short) from delivering the sweet punch I was looking for. I bought almost every kind to bring home. Perhaps bcs if one's palate is used to the one from another region say Lebanon or Syria, the Turkish one will come close but not that close. Theirs is softer in texture and not exactly the same taste. The other salty pastries were good specially the cheese with spinach one. That one is a must try. Really liked it. The bagels were ok but was told it's different from the popular one known to the rest of Turkey bcs it's from another region in Turkey.... Good also but I prefer the original recipe. I'd come back to this nice, quiet and clean place if happened to be in the hood for a Turkish coffee with a piece of pastry or two but I'm not sure I'd take some home again given the taste issue and also the fact that the prices were a bit higher than other comparable places. I visited later in the day so most their famous breads and viennoiserie were sold out. The tarts however looked exquisite so I took some to try. Let me tell you, their chocolate tart is out of this world! It is everything I would want in a tart - a harder exterior shell which tastes almost like shortbread and a soft chocolate filling which isn't at all gooey. They also make the perfect Paris Brest which is difficult to come by, the praline cream is just perfection. Couldn't take any pictures this time unfortunately, it was hard to resist and the treats were devoured before I could grab my phone. I think that is a good enough reason to return!!

They are one of the bakeries which participated in le jour du croissant -- meaning their croissants are made the real French way with lots of butter and are fresh every day. I don't think I've ever had anything from here that I haven't loved, but my first love is the brioche toast topped with jam, then marzipan. Off today to get a fresh whole wheat miche so that my Thanksgiving turkey can be stuffed with delicious bready goodness.
