Beautiful, small, and private beachfront for those who have base access. Nice and quiet. Thoroughly enjoyed my time here

You need a MIL ID to enter this base. We lodged here for the second time and have enjoyed the proximity to down town Whitehead and Duval streets; the beach, restricted to military personnel, is pristine beach front property. Lodging here is great. The rooms are decently sized and come stocked with a Keurig Machine with 4 capsules of coffee or tea, TV, soap and shampoo. Even a washing machines and driers are down the haul that are free to use so long as you purchase the detergent. There is also an ice machine in a separate locked room. Rooms are well kept and it's always quiet. I prefer this location to any other in the Keys. On the Base there is also a nondenominational church and you can view old remnants of an old bunker.

Best non-crowded beach we've been to yet! BBQ pits, bathroom/showers, and playground close to beach.

This Is a private beach, can only be accessed with military ID. It's really nice, peaceful and quiet. It's the best beach on Key West! Only Con is that pets are not allowed. Water is crystal clear is gorgeous! I will definitely come back again if I get the chance too.

This beach was amazing! If you're military and have the ability this is the way to do Key West. You'll want water shoes or Fred Flintstone feet because it is a bit rocky, but if you have chairs this is of no concern. We put our chairs right on the waterline and hung out on our own private paradise for the day. Make sure to bring your drinks! Such a wonderful experience every day for us in Key West. We will be back to this beach and staying here on this base again and again because of this little paradise.

    Clear water!!!!!

Not really a beach. Very rocky, and you have to have base access. Pretty chill though, if you can get in.

We arrived early and found parking near the children's playground area, and walked out onto the white sand beach with only a few other AM visitors. We did not utilize or investigate what looked like umbrellas and beach chairs for rent, and instead waded out into the bathtub temperature water with our masks and snorkels. The swim area stays shallow farther than we SoCal folks are used to in our beaches, and it is roughly enclosed by a break wall of sorts, and a long walking pier with stairs down into the water for access. Still plenty of small snapper, grouper, and other fish can be seen out near the structure of the pier and break wall. After a warm morning in the water, we left our towels on the beach and enjoyed a delicious lunch at Salute (see other review) before packing up and exploring the other great parts of Key West. We found this beach to be cleaner than Smathers beach, and maybe more laid back. Also of note: there was a marked sea turtle nest on the beach surrounded by caution tape and signage. Yet another wonder of the keys for us touristy visitors who live in Sunny SoCal with her cold California current ocean temps.
