(Southern Conservation Trust) I visited on opening day, August 13th, 2016. This expansive nature area has many features. There's hiking, geocaching, fishing, canoeing and more! I even remember seeing a landscape painter stationed quietly along one of the hiking paths. Fayette county is really expanding. After Pine Wood movie studios moved in, things have been growing rapidly. The timing was perfect for creating a nature area. "The Ridge is a City of Fayetteville public green space project. After years of desiring to develop the nature area, the City engaged Southern Conservation Trust to develop and manage the public use nature area."(Southern Conservation Trust) "Over 200 acres of the 308 acres of the Ridge that are not wetlands were clear cut in the 1820's, and farmed up to the mid 1960's, with only a few patches remaining of "old growth" trees or vegetation." (Southern Conservation Trust) After hiking along some of the trails, you can tell the land used to be farm. There were left over tree houses, metal barrels (stills), rope swings & places where cows rubbed bark off trees and waded in the shallow creek. I went by myself because on opening day there were many people there & I felt safe. I'd never go by myself on a day unlike opening day because the park is very expansive. You can be by yourself for hours- if you'd like. This park would be perfect for a group hike & picnic. I'm happy to have this green space set aside in Fayette County especially as our county grows expansively.

You cannot miss it. However, you may miss the road or entrance to view. It's going downwards to get to one side, but the other side is another road that you will easily miss! I had to ask someone. Free. Small parking space. I actually see two barns. I didn't go inside. I saw several photographers there doing their job and didn't want to interrupt them. I came in this morning, signed in properly, and placed my paddle on game 11. They were on game 8. I waited 45 minutes like everyone else is supposed to, following the system that THEY set up. When game 11 was finally called, I walked up to find that one of the front desk attendants had physically removed my paddle from the rotation and set it off to the side -- completely away from all the other games, no explanation, no heads up, nothing. When I asked him what happened, he looked me dead in the face and lied. Told me he had "stood up and waved my paddle around" to call for me earlier and that I must have been playing in game 8 or 9. I was not. I had been sitting and waiting the entire time. Not only did he move my paddle without telling a single person, he then fabricated a story on the spot to cover it up rather than just owning a simple mistake. When I told him it was completely unacceptable to remove someone's paddle from the pool without notifying them, let alone lie about it, he talked to me disrespectfully and shrugged his shoulders like my 45 minutes of wasted time meant absolutely nothing to him. Zero accountability. Zero professionalism. Zero apology. I picked up my paddle and left, and I won't be back. If this is how staff treat paying members who follow the rules, this place has a serious problem. Train your staff better; or at the very minimum, hire people who won't lie to your customers' faces when they make a mistake.

The size of the park was surprising, in that it did stretch on and on, so you'll get your steps in! Fields are the name of the game here. All sorts of multi-purpose fields for football, soccer, etc are all over the park. Sadly when I went, they were all closed for repair so I was unable to explore them. This is a dog friendly park, however like another reviewer mentioned, there was dog poop littering many of the side walks. It's not the dog's fault so please clean up after your pup! There is a little trail called the heart healthy path where you can walk on and walk through wooded areas. It's really serene and pretty, AND each completion of the trail nets you 0.25 mi, so going 8 times around coul work. Parking here is absolutely no problem as there are lots for days. There's also a nice children's play area for the kids and I saw a few bicycle riders on my visit. Basically there's a lot you can get done here. Best park i've Ever visited? Nah, but if you live close and like getting some fresh air, I bet you'll find yourself here from time to time!

Was very excited when I heard about this event coming to Atlanta. I had always told my wife how I…read morewanted to compete on the show and that I could probably win if I had the chance. So once she heard about it, even though I was initially on the fence about it, she encouraged me to go. The price seemed a bit high, and there's all kinds of fees at the end, including insurance, mailing you the packet, merchandise, parking, etc. I chose to do race day packet pick up since it was the cheapest option. Just be sure to arrive an hour early and you should have plenty of time. The packet includes a t-shirt, bib, and safety pins. Since the event was held in October, it was rainy and cold. The experience could've been better had it been held in September or spring. There was also a foam pit on the second obstacle course where you slide head first, then leap into a foam pit. This turned out to be a disaster for me as you cannot tell how deep the water is because it is covered with foam. I jumped in expecting it to be much deeper and ended up spraining my ankle when I couldn't catch a good footing and rolled it in the water. I couldn't come all this way just to sit out after 5 mins, so I hobbled my way through the rest of the 5k course, occasionally taking a shortcut or two. But it was definitely a disappointment. Also, since there are quite a few obstacles with water courses, you end up running the course soaking wet. And each subsequent course is dirty and covered with mud and wet blades of grass rubbing off of previous contestants. The course was well run with plenty of volunteers. And it was a nice space to hold the race. There was minimal wait time as the lines at each obstacle was not too long. Overall I had a fun time "running" the race with a group of friends. And there was a medical tent at the end of the race where I was able to get my ankle wrapped up. If not for the cold weather and the misstep at the beginning, it would've been a lot more fun.

October is a bit too late in the year to have this event (to be fair, it was a chilly and rainy day and I had a 1030am start time, but still....). Also, most of the obstacles were underinflated and weren't quite a fun as they could've been. The WORST part is how they nickel and dime you. You pay for your tickets and then you pay more when you register and then $10 (!!!) to park and then $5/picture if you want any of the pictures they took of you. Oh, and you get automatically signed up for some service that gives you 30 days and free and if you don't pay attention to your emails and cancel this Active Advantage thing you'll get charged $65/month to keep it. SO LAME! On the plus side, I will admit I had some laughs and some fun and enjoyed myself for the most part. But this could've been much better for the $ paid.

There was a young girl's softball team with fast pitch machine; a mixed co-ed group and an elderly gentleman group all practicing batting consistency. It is fantastic for the community to offer an outlet for all age groups to practice softball and be part of a team. It was very nice to be able to watch the players while just exploring the area. But mostly, I love the military veteran's memorial. What a tremendous tribute to service members and capture of Commander in Chief quotes throughout the various military conflicts in this nation's history. Spectacular memorial found in McDonough, Georgia. It is a must visit if on the area.
