Staff was very pleasant. -Camp hosts keep the place so clean and neat -Bathrooms were amazing! 2 stalls (one regular and one handicap) and 2 showers (one regular and one handicap). These were spotless. -Really neat kids playground in the new section Cons: -The road in is windy and VERY narrow. -New section: The sites are spacious but man... Not sure who designed it. All the pull thrus had slopes. We actually disconnected the Jeep and backed into our pull thru site as we may have bottomed out trying to actually pull in forward. The spot where the patio is was level and long enough for our 40' bus, but the jeep was on a slant when parked either in front or behind the coach. We saw this in most of the sites. I think if we stayed in the new section again, we'd chose one of the back in sites. -Hook ups were near the front of the site. Good thing we have long hoses! In fact, this was their 45th year celebrating Groundhog Day. The gates opened a little prior to 6am and there was plenty of parking. The restrooms were right next to the parking lot and not only were they clean...they were HEATED, which was so wonderful since it was about 25 degrees outside. It was a short walk to the festivities, less than a half mile, but it was through the woods (VERY CLEARLY marked!) and over some wooden boardwalks (not sure how handicap accessible this is but it was an easy walk for this out of shape girl.) Everything was well maintained and looked beautiful even in the dark. We were able to see a bald eagle and another hawk close to the groundhog enclosure. If it would have been a bit warmer (the pond was frozen over!) I would have loved to stay and see more of the animals. Especially the otters. This girl LOVES otters. There was quite a bit of merchandise available: stuffed groundhogs, bracelets, a variety of buttons, several different tee shirts, and magnets. We bought a few items and entered the raffle to win a gift bag that included the original copy of last years proclamation. It was a really cold wait for the 7:31 proclamation time, although the park did pass out hand warmers. I think we could have waited a bit longer but since this was our first time, we had no idea how big of a crowd to expect. I would guess that there were 100-150 people. Being so early, we were right up front but I think we would have been about to see if we had gotten there a bit later. All of the employees (volunteers?) were very nice and helpful. We met many people who do this annually and there were even news crews here. It was very fun and definitely worth attending. We will definitely be returning but only when it is absolutely warmer! Ps. Restrooms are conveniently located at the welcome center and start of the trail. The area is well marked and the terrain is diverse. I would rate this 4 stars. Problems…read more *no signs to navigate you through the park. *it's not good for small children, babies toddlers,people that have disabilities. The path is very steep and there's only one place that has a beach type area. If you are Lucky and find the right path to go down then you can bring babies or toddlers. But I don't recommend it. * there are beer bottles and cigarettes scattered throughout the rocks. Not enough to not make you want to go, but they should have staff to clean. * no one is at the gate to take money or to guard. Pros *it is good for older children. I have a 7, 9, 12, 13, & 15 year old. We didn't have any issues going on the paths and finding our way. We are an adventurous family tho. * we brought tubes and the kids had a blast going down the rocks. * it didn't seem dangerous but I did stand near them just in case. My 7 & 13 year old went down. It was pretty cool. Tips * I recommend water shoes as there are rocks and it's easier to navigate with them on. * my kids are very strong swimmers,but I recommend life vests for smaller children *the *park at the horseshoe picnic area if you want the beach lake. (This is the easier way for small children) * if you want the top of the rapids continue to the dead end. We brought tubes and went down. It was a ton of fun. *bring a small cooler with drinks and lunch. Some people brought chairs and put them on the rocks and hung out.

There is a deck that you can pay to park in at the Emory Clifton campus - that is the closest parking I believe.

The entire splash pad was on a 3-5 minute timer and shut down which was a little bothersome but then again it was also environmentally conscious. Not all of the water toys were operating. This looked to be new construction. There were free restrooms / changing rooms on the premises. We were glad to come here on a hot August day and have other kids to play with. There are benches near the dressing rooms in the shade and near the fence line in the sun. There is no life guard on duty here or a custodian keeping watch. One of the parents was smoking on the premises (probably a no no). I don't know if this will last very long, but common sense dictates that you probably shouldn't bring food here either especially alcohol. I don't recall seeing any signs with rules but to preserve this for your community I would adopt those from your local swimming pool to be conscientious and respectful of this precious resource and your neighbors.

If you do go on the weekends, make sure to arrive early as the parking can fill up fast. Venue and Atmosphere The great outdoors await; enjoy the mostly paved path along the creek to a peaceful waterfall. The trail continues slightly uphill and winds through the park with beautiful foliage and more creek views. Aside from the incline, the trail is relatively easy. The waterfall wasn't very full but that of course depends on the rain level, and the past month was a dry one. It was still lovely! Verdict I'll definitely visit again!
