I have been bike riding within NYC for over 30 years and been on numerous MS rides around the city and ridden many 5-Boro bike tours so I can safely say this is one of the best bike rides inside NYC! The path you take is the parameter of the whole island of Manhattan. You get to ride the entire FDR Drive , Harlem River Drive, and the Westside Highway without any cars! The roadway is pretty smooth and safe. The ride is only 30-mile and it's relatively flat. There is a small hill on the northern tip right outside Isham Park but most of us walked it! The 30-miles sound like a lot but it is very easy and the pace is leisurely. Refreshments and snacks were plentiful. Everyone is friendly and you will be fund raising for a good cause. The event is well organized and with plenty of volunteers to help out in anyway. A big Thank You to all my friends that donated to MS! I hope to see more of my friends at this event next year!

A great way to find out the latest news on whats going on in the community (Middle…read morevillage/Maspeth/Glendale/Ridgewood) and get involved. Many times there will be DOT members, city council members, even congress members that represent the area will stop by the meetings to talk or answer questions and concerns of the community. A lot of the members are people who have been living in this area for generations! You hear some great stories and get to really know your neighbors. That's not something I'm really use to as a native New Yorker lol! I'm glad to have found out about this great civic association for a neighborhood that I didn't grow up in. They serve coffee at the meatings which is also nice. Many of the members political views may be leaning heavily to one side that I am not too much of a fan of but its a bit expected in a slightly wealthier community. I do enjoy a good debate hear and now, and believe me those meetings can get heated! lol They have lots of information up on there site, like when and where you can attend a meeting no need to call ahead. If you live in any of these neighborhoods, and even forest hills too; they have a private group on Facebook that you can join. Lots of debating going on there.

If you enjoy all forms of educational and physical activity in NYC chances are the Parks and Recreation is involved. They are not alone in their efforts. A lot of funding sources are coordinating to make our pleasure possible. My credit goes to those with their feet on the ground making it all come to fruition. They have my vote. This Exhibit provided me with a wonderful adventure into many neighborhoods. Some where no one spoke English at one point! I loved the sculptures and got a six and a half mile walk in too! Thanks NYC Parks and Recreation for participating in this Art Exhibit.

You have to drive between two buildings on Linden Ave East (the warehouse on the left is Liberty…read moreSelf Storage, the brick building on the right is Cenveo) to get to the JCIA; after driving between the two buildings, make the first left into a small cul-de-sac, stop at a booth (not the very first booth as you drive between the two buildings, but the boot in the cul-de-sac), have your ID present and they may ask you for your license plate. They'll fill out a form and tell you where to go from there: drive down the Do Not Enter/Authorized Vehicles Only path, and just as you start to go up a hill where some gas pumps are, make the first left. Just to the right in that area (it's also a parking lot of sorts for a bunch of industrial vehicles) is a giant green dumpster for electronic waste.

I'm writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with how I was treated on September…read more10th, 2019, by a DPW employee, who is clearly failing to do his job accurately and honestly. As a business owner and property owner in Jersey City for the last 15 + years, I have always made sure to notify the DPW of lingering trash on the streets I find near and around my business. I take pride in participating in the efforts of keeping our streets clean. I have always dealt with Traun, Ben, Richie and Mario - the dispatchers at DPW who have always been incredibly helpful and can attest to the fact that I always notify them anytime I see trash dumped on our streets (Especially Mr. Traun). As it has been my practice for the last 15+ years, on July 18 2019, I called in seeing several trash bags outside my building. It is important to note that before even making the call I checked the bags to ensure they were not part of my construction. If it was I would've simply moved it to the back of my building where I'm holding any construction debris which is removed on a weekly basis. To my dismay, I came back to a ticket. After weeks of calling to speak to the Inspector - William Richardson, I was finally promised by his supervisors Kristine and Nancy that I would receive a call back. The inspector, to my surprise, was incredibly rude and refused to hear anything I had to say. His determination was that it was my trash was simply an assumption on his part. I can't imagine assumptions and not thorough investigations are part of his training or duties. His solution for me was to go and fight this in court because he felt he did his job. Without opening the bag of garbage how exactly could he determine it was mine? I can assure you he didn't because the trash bag had no construction materials for his determination to be accurate. Why should I waste a work day for a mistake he made? One that simply could've been avoided had he actually done his job. I think it's logical that I wouldn't have called DPW had it been my trash. Who would voluntarily put themselves in a situation to receive a ticket? It is situations like this that discourage residents from helping the city maintain our community. How can I trust in our community and attempt to help if I'm risking getting an incompetent inspector too lazy to do his job and eager to give undeserved tickets? As a contributing business to the Jersey City economy and participating community member I hope to hear back with a resolution for this matter. In 1879, the house originally had a one-story porch across front 3 walls and a flat roof with a cupola owned by Daniel Van Winkle. He died in 1886 and his heirs subdivided the land. Today, a front rectangular addition covered the octagon shape on both stories by enclosing the porch to add 2nd floor to the porch.

They won't let you bring in your cell phone, but you can check it with the Marshals once you get past security. The clerk's office is on the main floor right past the elevator bank. If you're filing a complaint, as you enter, make the first right. They take all major credit cards, cash or checks. On Thursday from 9 AM to noon they issue attorney passes. If you don't want to wait on line, this is the way to skip it. There is a second entrance to the courthouse on Worth Street. If the line is long on the Pearl Street entrance, walk around. This entrance is almost never used. Oh. Remember. They are Marshalls, not officers.
