It's situated near the East River in the Financial District. Next to 55 Water is the Vietnam Veteran's Plaza! The building has gone major renovations over the years, including modernizing the lobby, and infrastructure upgrades! There are a variety of amenities on site too include a café within 55 Water Street and a mini coffee spot inside! There are also plenty of seating, benches, and areas where you can work on your laptop in the lobby. Depending on the floor you're going to, there are different elevator stations that you'll need to take inside the building. 55 Water street building is massive! On the higher level floor, you can see the entire city! It has such beautiful views! There are also plenty of restaurants nearby 55 Water Street and The Battery as well!

This Exhibit provided me with a wonderful adventure into many neighborhoods. Some where no one spoke English at one point! I loved the sculptures and got a six and a half mile walk in too! Located just on the facade of the building is the Memorial to the Victims of the Injustice of the Holocaust on the 25th Street side of the building. Completed in 1990 by Harriet Feigenbaum, it is a six-sided half column rising 27 feet above its base. From the NY Gov page, it is described as "The five-sided concave base extends one story below ground level, the overall height of the Memorial being 38 feet. Carvings of flames along the length of the column recall the flames of the gas chambers at Auschwitz. They appear to blow in the direction of the courthouse as if to threaten the symbol of Justice. A relief of an aerial view of the main camp at Auschwitz is carved into the base at eye level. An inscription "Indifference to Injustice" has been carved above the relief, "Is the Gate to Hell" below it. Specific locations at Auschwitz are identified: Torture Chamber, Execution Wall, Gas Chamber and Crematorium 1, Commandant's House. The source of the image of the death camp is a photograph taken during an Allied bombing raid on August 25, 1944. By the selection of this photograph, the artist is saying that the Allies must have known of the camp and they took no action. On the base under the relief is a giant flame extending below ground level as a final reminder of Crematorium 1 at Auschwitz."

On the rare occasion that I've interacted with the staff, they've been friendly and helpful! While the branch's Adult media lending portion is relatively small, that's OK since you can order online from NYPL's spectacular, vast collection to pick up here! Upstairs, while I haven't visited, there's a Children's section. The only real negative for this location is that talking and other noises from the Children's section reverberate throughout the downstairs non-Children's space. A 2nd Floor noise barrier between the space and stairs might help alleviate the regular sounds of constant tumult heard by 1st Floor patrons. Also, I've noted some people who bring kids to this 1st Floor section to do homework can be quite chatty and, while fantastic and I absolutely commend them for helping kids, it's not always at a volume respectful of others who come there to use the facilities - preferably in a silent atmosphere. On the whole, it's awesome that NYPL maintains this W. 115th St. branch for the community! Thank you, NYPL!

It's the classic architecture for libraries of the time it opened in 1908. This library is a nice walk from my apartment. The layout of reading material is by floor so you navigate upward for age appropriate reading materials. Last time I was in the neighborhood I forgot to stop in. I'm definitely going to return when I'm in the neighborhood. I know you want to see photos. Here's a photo of the book that changed the food industry. Or has it? Sometimes I feel that nothing really changes or we get lax. I recommend you read this book because it moved me. Look for it at the branch or NYPL online. The more you know........
