You know, like that good friend you have who works somewhere and they got your back? We usually have like zero expectations from PD or DMVs, but not here at NCPD. I did have to drop by a second time for my request, but it was for a valid reason like having expired passport. If you have everything they asked for, everything is good! They really seem like they love helping you. Oh, I think NCPD is closed on Fridays. It's better to check the times before dropping by. COVID related, they're having you wait outside, socially distanced, allowing 2 guests at a time, temperature measured at the entrance, sanitizer available at the entrance. Everyone is wearing a mask.

We have ADT and police help my husband up with his extreme ridgety from his late stage Parkinson'. Apparently this guy not well informed on Parkinson'sl But this police officer really was having a bad night a few months back. He put my husband at the end of bed like I was going to get in the bed next to husband. I said I'm not sleeping with him! He said why? Loudly with a red mad face And angry! I said I wouldn't get any sleep! He said you're married aren't you? I said yes. I left it there. Parkinson's patients have hallucinations and are all over the bed thrashing around! He can really hurt me. The bed is always not where it was the night before it's about 3 to 4 ft moved from his activity while he's sleeping. . Well I think he learned tonight at 1:00 am when he got my husband out of tub he fell into while he was on toilet. Also a BM in him I had to remove and cleaned up. Caregiving spouses are always tired. But they care for their loved ones. Just not in the romantic ways we used to have. But the love is there. I think he understands now, he stayed far away as he could while I wiped my husband up. Please think before you start being judgmental in my home. Read up on Parkinson's. It's an awful disease. Both for patient and their loved ones. Thank you for your service anyway both of you. This building is an old school and The…read moreVillage of Mineola bought it many year's ago to house the village offices as well as the small auditorium that is used for the monthly board meetings and hearings. They have also set up video to be able to broadcast from this room. The best part is the large multi-purpose room that can be used as a gym or meeting center. Our senior clubs hold their meetings there as well as our many civic groups taking advantage of the large room and stage. The Kiwanis Club of County Seat Mineola held their annual pancake breakfast there for many years until moving to the High School. There is ample room to house hundreds as well as the stage the could be used for entertainment. There is also a small kitchen in the building. The kitchen is small but is a good staging area. Large events will need to be catered in. There was also a recent lobby and entrance renovation. Hanging on the lobby wall is the John S. DaVanzo "wall of honor" saluting the many past people who did a wonderful job shaping Mineola into the great village and community it is today. Its great to be part of a community that is so community minded.

Presented this family fair event at two locations-Syosset/Woodbury Community Park from 6-8 on Tuesday August 5th and at Bethpage High School 10 Cherry Avenue, Bethpage at 6:30pm -8:30pm. Both events had Live Music. In Syosset by 106 North and in Bethpage by Tom Chupka & Friends. The Syosset Park- event had various giveaways, treats and a variety of things to see and do there, including cotton Candy giveaways from Carnival Parties. At Cobs Bread Bakery booth yummy snacks were given out as well. I met Deputy Commissioner Jeffrey Sattali from the Nassau County Office of Emergency Management -OEM- I got a tour of their mobile van. Inside were multiple band radios for Emergency Management. Why a mobile unit? For big events as the Air Show at Jones Beach there are literally thousands of people, so the unit can be moved on location for possible needs. Giveaways here were, a CERT first aid kit (good in a car) and an infrared thermometer for the forehead to take temperature. There were various Military and Fire Department vehicles on display.(see pix) with charming, knowledgeable men explaining what they were and how they were used and yes women- one of whom I saw in an Army jeep. Party House in Woodbury is now the place to get party supplies, SPCA was there giving handouts on how to prepare before a disaster and with 2 working dogs (who love to be pet) , and there was a wonderful GS Police Officer dog on duty as well. A kids Bicycle raffle for a helmet along with bicycle safety were at one booth , A great sign done by the Interns was also on display, as were wehearyouli.org a nonprofit organization supporting families of children deaf or hard of-hearing, NY Literacy Project, and some businesses as Forging Fit with Personal Trainer Tommy DeChiaro, Rallye at rallye.com and Jersey Mikes team from their Hicksville location . The day that the Throg's Neck Bridge was shut down, I had taken my bike to work. Traffic was so…read morebad on the LIE, that I got off at Glen Cove Road. I ran out of gas about a mile north of the LIE, and walked back to the LIE (minus my bike) to the Nassau Police officers that were standing by a fire. I asked for some assistance in getting a ride back to my bike with some gas, and they said that they'd be staying around the fire and that they couldn't leave. As soon as I filled up a gas can borrowed from a good samaritan (the attendant at the Mobil station refused to let me borrow a gas can), they had dissapeared without a trace. An older Fire Police gentleman gave me a ride back to my bike with some gas. Boo on Nassau PD for not helping a lady in distress.
