When I experienced high blood pressure late in pregnancy, we were advised to go to the hospital--but the promised support in emergency transitions never came. My partner and I had to navigate the ER and hospital system alone while I was in and out of consciousness from a magnesium drip. The only outreach was a call asking whether we'd be returning for aftercare--not a check-in, not a gesture of compassion, not even a follow-up to acknowledge what had happened. We later discovered documentation of a hypertension diagnosis that was never discussed with us transparently. No safety plan was made. The most guidance we received came from our hypnobirthing coach--not our midwifery team. We were also exposed to COVID-19 due to lax policies around symptomatic individuals, compounding our stress and vulnerability. While a partial refund was eventually issued, the emotional impact of being left unsupported in one of the most critical moments of our lives still lingers. My new OB does them in office, and with my same insurance it was less than $150. My new office also said my OB paperwork wasn't completed properly, they had to hound the office and Dr. Johnson for copies of my records, and when I requested a transfer, I was immediately dropped as a patient and my appointments cancelled. Leaving me with no OB IN THE MIDDLE OF MY PREGNANCY AT 22 weeks until my New OB accepted me. Also, the wait times are ridiculous here. Sometimes over an hour- hour 1/2. And your partner will not be able to sit with you. They must sit in the hallway. I switched to All About Women and couldnt be happier with my choice. Dr. Johnson was nice, but it wasn't worth it.

I was informed that a random doctor on call would delivery my baby, and I could not meet the physician prior. As I was searching for a decent physician I came across this office. When I called the woman at the desk was impatient. She informed me I would not be seen for at least two months, the doctor would need all my records, review the records, and decide if he would take me as a patient. I tried to expedite my records by seeing how I could assist. She informed me they would get my records from my previous office. Since it's been over two weeks and no one has contacted me about a records release. I assume I should just keep shopping or take whatever kind of care i can get and hope for the best. That's healthcare in America.
