My dad was brought here March 12 in the evening and passed March 14 in the morning. In the almost two days, the whole staff was amazing. The cleaning lady was friendly and stated she too used this facility for her mother. The nurses were super kind and willing to answer any questions I had, or my mom/sister about my dad's condition and medications. The social worker was very attentive. Very pleased with the staff, especially after reading some of the not so great reviews from before. I can only assume there was a changeover in staff. The facility itself was clean. My dad's room was very soothing and the decor/paint job was a calming sage green. My dad said he just wanted to be comfortable while he waited to pass and this facility accommodated it wonderfully. Obviously no one wants to have to deal with death, but would recommend this facility if you or your loved one is in Vegas. read more

Recently, my brother passed away within two days of leaving Valley Hospital. We were shocked to say the least and are not happy about how this transfer was handled. My brother needed an advocate on his side who knew "the system". I left several messages-no call backs yet. My father passed away 12/30/23. Nathan Adelson care was not what I've seen on TV commercials, or otherwise. I wrote a letter about the experience to the CEO, no response. I believe due to the holidays, there were substandard staff. Kept asking what was happening, staff smiling "he's actively dying ". Nurse shoving pill down his throat when obviously he couldn't swallow. He entered 12/21/23, by Christmas Day, social worker called my mom saying "he's not gone yet, what do you want to do.... Then said we'll discuss when you get here, Merry Christmas." Really? When I got there, she said well typically if they aren't gone after 3 days, need to do something else. But then said, looks like turning for worse. 9 days, the most horrific last days for my father. I will never forget or forgive. The quality of care was nonexistent. There was one nurse, Jim, who was very compassionate when we arrived, but after, no compassion. I'm extremely disappointed that after my letter, there was no response. I know my father had a poor prognosis, but the compassionate care and explanation of what was happening was nonexistent. This will haunt me forever. read more

Blows my mind how this place has such high reviews . My good friend got sent here by his nurse . He is 93 and was on at home hospice . He was still mobile , eating , drinking and talking . He had an accident and fell . So his nurse made him come here . That was the last time he was coherent . Since then he has been so doped up he's more or less in a coma .They sedated him because the first night he was here he was confrontational and didn't want to be here . They haven't gave him any food or drinks since he's been here . Just morphine and whatever else they are shooting him up with . It's heartbreaking to sit here and watch them kill him off .... read more

This is the place to go if you are looking for only comfort care and no triage for medical conditions. My mom was here for a few days and I did not hear from her. I went to check on her after not seeing her for 3 days. I walked into her coma-like with a catheter inserted and non-responsive. No one notified me of her worsening condition. She had severe sepsis and her system was shutting down. I was told by the staff that she would be "gone" by the end of the night. I asked for the charge nurse, and requested an IV and antibiotics. They put a line in her but 4 hours later all they had to offer was more morphine. Considering she was non-responsive I declined 2 doses of morphine they would have given her while I was there. They said she was fine as of that morning and suddenly took a turn for the worse. They also said that she had sludge for urine over the past few days and was unable to get to the bathroom on her own - hence the catheter. I was not happy with any of it, as it was not adding up. I called 911 and had her transferred to Mountain View Hospital where they essentially brought her back to responsive after a ton of IV antibiotics, and fluids. She spent a few days in the neuro ICU, after the ER, and was sent to a post-acute rehab facility. It's now 10 weeks later and she is still having issues-she can't walk. She was walking, and driving prior to being admitted to Nathan Adelson Facility. I am not sure if it was the sepsis that caused her body to shut down or if she had a stroke, etc. I would have liked to be notified of the decline in health and I would have pulled her out sooner. My mom made the mistake of checking herself in during transition to a group home this was not meant to be end of life so I think there was some major miscommunication of expectations. If end of life is the goal and expectations are set then I would have a different opinion. I was not left with a good opinion as my mom was unresponsive with sepsis for days without any notification to family. read more

This place is incredible. At the end of a loved ones life they really take care of the patient and their families. I've witnessed the tender loving care they provide to their patients and it is truly amazing. They are attentive to the patient's needs, compassionate about what the family is experiencing and make sure to explain things if you have any questions. It's always hard when you need to make the decision to send a loved one to hospice but if it is absolutely necessary....this place is top notch. The staff is incredible. read more

Gosh, what an awful thing to have to rate a hospice center, because it means you probably lost a loved one. I chose this hospice for my mom because of its history in Vegas and that it's still privately owned. The staff was very knowledgeable and caring. They listened. What a gift! They just listened while I blathered on about my mom. They were caring, scheduled, quiet, and kind. They made sure my mom was comfortable, clean, and cared for. The room was simple, clean, and had a bed for a guest. They had a tv, set to play gentle music. Of course, you could probably set it to watch whatever you want. I stuck with the calm music. I wanted my mom's last days to be peaceful. The grounds were also so pretty, with a thoughtfully landscaped courtyard, a chapel, cafeteria, and helpful staff all around. The chaplain came to visit. Again, he just listened, and then gave a very heartfelt blessing at our request. I hope I never have to go there again. But if you're in need of end-of-life care, this is a wonderful place. read more

For the most part, my dad only lasted a week in hospice. The head nurse NP and night nurse, Ana, we're AMAZING. However, on day my father passed (afternoon), I was called by a day nurse (brunette, wore glasses), who was course and insensitive when I arrived to say my goodbyes to the deceased father. I asked when he passed and she proceeded to give me the military time (15:30). This day nurse asked if there were any belongings left behind, then proceeded to speak loudly and slam the cabinet doors and drawers, shouting "I don't see anything here!" while my dad's dead body lay on the bed. When I left, there was an apathetic attempt to hand me "bereavement" pamphlet, like she was handing out coupons. This experience really loomed over me for days. Perhaps this day nurse is ok at her job but she should not interface with grieving family members. read more

I recently had to look for a hospice center to help me care for my husband at home. I'm very glad I chose Nathan Adelson. The RN, Social worker and Certified Nursing Assistant were wonderful. Also personnel are very focused on keeping us safe from covid and also protecting themselves. I never felt threatened in any way about the self care of the professionals. They also helped to prepare my home with a medical bed and everything else I needed to adequately help my husband. It is hard enough watching your loved one pass away so that compassionate and competent help is so necessary. I received that here. They also helped me with everything necessary at the very end. My Father was admitted to Nathan Adelson Hospice in February 2016 during his battle with esophageal cancer. I had the chance to visit my Dad during his time there and was able to say my goodbyes. As sad as I was to see my Dad's final days come, I was very pleased with the hospice my step mother chose for him. The hospice is centrally located in Las Vegas and is conveniently located near easy freeway access. The facility both inside and outside are very well maintained and there is a lot of parking as the parking lot is shared with a huge medical facility for various medical offices. The RN's (Registered Nurses) we're very sweet and were very compassionate towards my families time of grief. Seeing a parents life come to an end is never easy, but I was extremely grateful my Dad was in a place where he was well cared for. The RN's ensured we as the family had everything we needed and took care of my dying father to make sure he was comfortable and not in any pain. As my wife is also an RN, she told me that nurses love treats, so we decided to bring our Nurses at Nathan Adelson some fresh doughnuts to show our appreciation for being so good to us and to my Dad. If you have someone who is in need of Hospice and you live in the Las Vegas Metro, North Las Vegas or even Henderson vicinity, I highly recommend Nathan Adelson Hospice. read more

My Father has been under the care of Nathan Adelson in-home ALZ Hospice care since 19 January, 2016. When I got the call from my Mom that this was happening, I panicked. "Hospice care" was always synonymous with imminent death to me (not the case with ALZ patients) and I was in PHX with my hubby who is awaiting a heart transplant. Well, while Hospice is not at all a happy word, the care my Father and Mother receive 24/7 is nothing short of inspiring: he is living with dignity, and Mom receives outstanding support as a caregiver. They had an initial consultation with a caseworker, who ordered all of the necessary supplies to set up my Dad to be comfortable in his own home, which both my parents wanted. Now their caseworker, Kara, and Nurse, Pam, each visit once weekly to order any supplies or meds needed; volunteers check in regularly by phone; and I've personally witnessed an Emergency Nurse come at 1AM, talk to a Dr, and have pain medication delivered to the door within the hour. They've even coordinated with my folks' church to have Nuns administer communion to them weekly. In July, they facilitated inpatient Respite care for five days - with transportation to and from - so Mom could visit PHX to celebrate a very special occasion, shop, bond, and rest. Mom calls them her "angels" and I must agree. I've been in LV with them since just before New Year's Eve, and though it will be painful to leave them and return to PHX due to separation anxiety, I couldn't imagine better care for them, anywhere. As we navigate the unfamiliar territory of end-stage Alzheimer's, we are forever grateful for these "Angels" met along the path. It takes a special person to do this type of work, and every single NAH employee or volunteer we have interacted with has been absolutely incredible. Finally, Nathan Adelson is a 501C3 non-profit organization: all of the above and more is free-of-charge to patients; they frequently hold fundraisers in the community, and are worth a look for charitable giving. Mini update: ***** my Father passed away recently, peacefully, and with dignity, in his own home. Once again NAH handled everything with grace, support, love, and swiftness. I have a very, dear friend who sadly has had cancer for a while. Her family had her enrolled in the home care, hospice program where the nurse would visit her every week. The care was already superb and their nurse's connection to the family could not have been better. About a week and a half ago the family had her sent to the Tenaya unit at Mountain View Hospital to receive 24 hour hospice care as she was worsening. I got to visit her for four or five days in a row and met the staff who were incredibly helpful and loving. From the registration, nurses, nursing assistants, and other ancillary staff everyone belongs exactly here because they are unbelievable people. Whenever I was speaking with my friend about her accomplishments, and explaining it to the nurses on duty, they were completely interested and appreciated knowing more about their patient. Sadly, my friend has passed away, but I can recommend the care at this unit on the third floor so much. The facility is wonderful and it is only surpassed by the dedicated professionals who make the family feel so comforted. read more

My father needed hospice care and I chose Nathan Adelson due to the wonderful things I have heard about them. Unfortunately, we did not see all those wonderful things. They dropped the ball on this one. They dropped off my Dad at home on a Friday and I didn't hear from anyone until I called mid-morning on Monday. They apologized and said that it's not how they handle things and sent out a CNA, nurse, social work and chaplain immediately. Then we heard nothing from them again. They scheduled a CNA 3 times a week but we saw the CNA just two times in the two weeks that we had hospice care and both times I had to call for it. We had to call whenever we needed a CNA or supplies. We also had to ask numerous times to have the defibrillator deactivated. We finally got to the point that a nurse had to come out at 1 am to deactivate it. The next day a nurse called to follow up but really just blew us off and made up excuses on why he didn't need to come by to check on him. Luis and the nurse he was training were very nice and compassionate but other than that I was very disappointed in the service we received and really did not feel supported in our time of need. read more

My wife Toni D Wall entered the Tenaya location 2-24 early afternoon and passed 3-2 early evening. She was at the end of her journey at 61 yrs old with Alzheimer's. The care and staff was second to none. Through the hardest thing I've dealt with including 13 mo. in Vietnam. Very BIG Loss to me and family. Between us we have 7 kids,19 grandkids and a whole lot of beautiful friends. And believe me we flat filled that room up every day & night. The staff was compassionate and careing. Zero contact, we had to chase them down to get things set up. My Dad fell twice, they never came out to check on him. There are other companies out there providing hospice service. A terrible and unfortunate experience in every way! I'm so disappointed with this firm and sorry that I have to write this review but I think it's important that others know what is experienced. It was horrible! The people that are hands on with the patient are compassionate and excellent! This is not where the problem is with them. That's where the good relationship with them ends. When you really need help, near the end of life, you don't get anywhere the needed help you need. You patient can sit in their own waste for 24 hours as limited service is only supplied once every 24 hours. The patient needs much more service than this at their final and dying days of life. They told me that they are very busy and don't have the staff to supply to provide the basic patient care that is needed. I need to find it elsewhere! Guess what? In the real world, that is not an options as other firms will not be willing and available to be hired, unless you fire Nathan Adelson and hire them to work for you full time. I had to beg Nathan Adelson to get any amount of service on the weekend due to limited staff availability on Saturday and Sundays. I was told and only told at that time, I need to go hire another company that can supplement the missing and urgently needed patient care. I was never able to find any supplemental company that would take on this responsibility and job. I and my good friend, who is an R.N. had to assume that position. I have no idea how other hospice companies operate but based on my experience, I have to advise you NOT to hire this firm at your time of need! I was told that there is no room for my Mom in their facility as they are much too busy! I think they are too busy buying other businesses in Las Vegas and have taken on more business than they can handle. It's all about the $$$! Their sales pitch is great, the staff that does work for them is very good but when you really need them, they won't be there for you. They are over worked and understaffed! They will never tell you this up front. They over-promise and greatly under-deliver when you need them the most! I wish you the very best of luck in your time of need. I strongly recommend that you look beyond Nathan Adelson for help in your dire situation . read more

It's never easy watching and waiting for your loved ones to die but at Nathan Adelson they made me feel so comfortable and they were all amazing. I don't want to leave anyone out but Julie was particularly amazing. So kind and gentle with my mother was transitioning (as they call it). And Brigid was the lucky one who got to announce my mother's departing. I'm sorry Brigid but you were also so kind and patient. My brother was in the hospital for a month. He was diagnosed with liver disease. He was weak and fraile when he got home but on his way to a sober life...but bcuz we had already planned a cruise, I was advised to put my brother in respite care, by his nurse, while i was gone. Respite care is "only" babysitting, but it is at a hospice facility. They feed him, watch him, and give him his meds. Seems too perfect, right? NOPE! We were told respite care patients would not be seen by the dr bcuz they are ony being babysat.My brother got there Sunday morning and within one day they overmedicated him so bad that, they changed his status from respite care to inhouse hospice and called me while i was on the cruiseliner to tell me hes dying. They were only supposed to give my brother pain meds when he asked for them. They had him so doped up that he slept practically the whole time he was there. They also put an i.v. in him without permission, and was giving him 15 mg of morphine every 4 hours. When my mother in law was passing, she was only getting 2.5 mg. All this happened in one day under their care!! Thats i had to leave the cruiseliner, rent a car, and race home. We got my brother out of that facility, put him into a hospital to detox him and now hes back home like a brand new guy. I am so furious with that respite care and am also considering getting a lawyer involved. 2 days later i talked to my brothers home health nurse and she worked in hospice for 20 years. She said hospice is not what it used to be. They are now getting $40,000 for each patient who is put on end of life status!! This needs to be exposed!! This was at the Swenson facility. My brothers nurses name is Bianca. She was the rudest hospice nurse ive ever met and she would not help me get the appropriate numbers to call or help in any way. She does not belong in a position that is supposed to provide care and comfort. read more

Nobody ever wants to see their family member in hospice. We were referred to them by Mountain View Hospital. Upon our arrival we the family we're extremely happy. The individuals working there are Beyond compassionate and empathetic. The setting was most comfortable and beautiful my mother would have been pleased. They catered to our every need, they even brought in a blow-up mattress and bedding to be able to stay with our mother. They bathed her, they held her hand, they took the time to make sure that she was comfortable. We the family just want to say thank you so much for making sure our mother was in such a wonderful place. She did pass here but I'm glad it was here and nowhere else. read more

My sister came into the care of Nathan Adelson (Tenaya Location)Thanksgiving 2017. It was the most difficult experience my family would have to face.... and we were blessed enough to have Suzanne caring for her! Our sunshine in the dark days to follow. Through the stay, Suzanne and the entire NA Hospice Staff showed us gentleness, compassion, remembered our story, our names and most important, kept my sister comfortable, feeling safe, cared for in a loving and quiet environment in her final days. I saw this with every patient they interacted with. Just amazing and caring human beings. After my sister passed, they still were there to walk us through the steps, followed up with calls and got us through a process that we were not prepared for. We cannot thank the nurses enough for their hard work and dedication! read more

My mom was transferred here from the hospital to live out her last couple of days. She was able to select her favorite foods, to be delivered at any time. There is an aroma therapist on site. Upon arrival she was given a 'bath' using essential oils, included in washing her hair. She was also given a body and foot massage! My mom became unresponsive the evening of her arrival, but the quality of care continued. They brought in an air mattress for my sister and brother-in law to spend the night by her side. My sister was also given an essential oil mixture, and massage, specially formulated to her needs, to help her relax. At 11 am, the following morning, we were informed by the nurse that my mom had minutes to live. My mom was receiving a foot massage with essential oils, by one of the specialists at the time. My 2 sisters, my brother in law and myself, immediately came to my mother's side and held her hands. The lady massaging my mom's feet asked if she should continue. We said please do! It was so hard to watch my mom take her last breathe, but I am so grateful I was there while she transitioned at 11:11am. It was comforting to know that she, as well as my family, were surrounded by such a comforting and loving staff. I've already informed my daughter, if I ever end up in hospice, this is where I want to go! read more

OH MY GOODNESS... what can I say! I don't think I can say THANK YOU enough to NAH and Elaina P, (Admissions nurse) for transferring my dad late at night from the first facility that was a horrible situation to Nathan Adelson Hospice (NAH). We went from a depressing situation to an amazing facility for my dad's last few hours. Thank you Elaina for taking my dad in so late at night and transferring him to a caring team that took care of my father. We were transferred from the hospital, to the first hospice facility. The place they found us was close to my mother but it was not a 'hospice' facility but a rehab/long term facility... we were misled! Before we admitted my dad to the first facility, my 2 girls went to check out Nathan Adelson Hospice (NAH) that we just heard about that day. My girls both said 'Mom, this is the place for grandpa! You will love it! See what you can do!'. I was already on the phone with them begging them to transfer my dad to give him the human dignity that he should have for his last few hours or days. A NAH nurse came over to where we were and started the process for us to transfer my dad. We had to transfer my dad for the second time that night in an ambulance. I thought we were going to loose my dad in the 2nd ambulance. Within 2 hours, they took care of all the paperwork and he was transferred. Before midnight, we were at the new place. The nurses cleaned up my dad, got him all comfortable, gave him his oxygen, and medication. The staff was very comforting to us. We were able to stay with my dad, we sang, cried, talked to him and he was in a very warm and beautiful room. We had another bonus.. the view was beautiful. My mother recently was a patient at Nathan Adelson facility. She was traveling from out of state and became very ill. She was hospitalized for a week and then transferred to the facility. We met with multiple caseworkers and carefully selected your facility based off of reviews/recommendations from everyone. We, her family, were also from out of town so a decision was difficult for us to make. Once my mother arrived at the facility, we were told they would get her settled in and we would meet with the care team. Unfortunately, we never met with anyone. They felt she was going to pass shortly after her arrival( she passed about 7 1/2 hours later). During that time, we interacted with minimal staff. It felt as if we were there alone with our mother. We asked once for a pitcher of water and the patient care assistant was quite annoyed with our request. After mom passed, we were thrown a paper with a list of funeral homes and were told to pick one. Her words were you have 4 hours to make a decision because the body can't stay here. We explained our situation of being 1900 miles away and did not know the area could she point us in the right direction of facilities near by. Her response was it is change of shift, I need to get report and don't have time. We ask if the social worker was available and she said they are on call. We ask if the social worker could assist us with the process and she basically refused to call her. Not once was there an offering to have a chaplain come as well. I, as a healthcare worker myself, could not wrap my head around the experience. I caution you when choosing the facility as you will fill like a number. There was no compassion shown to my family during this difficult time. read more

I was recommended to this hospice by mountain view hospital. I chose them initially because they're a nonprofit and have an area of the hospital where they can take their patients if needed. The chaplain and social worker were nice but whenever I called to report something wrong with my dad it something he needed it would take them days to come to see him. Most recently was his eye drops. I told them he must have an infection and I was told to wipe his eyes with a warm towel which we were already doing for weeks. When I told her the mucus would come right back sure didn't believe me. And said "that's very unusual". After the group home owner called as well a week went by and still no one would come to look at them. The DAY I switched to Harmony hospice they got his eye drops the same day. I read other reviews about them doing similar things and it's true. The two stars is because other than that they were nice people. But then again this was my first time dealing with any hospice before. read more
