Nathan Hale was my high school. I always enjoyed my teachers here, though I have no clue as to how it might be today. The school offers a lot of different programs. I really liked that the school had a huge swimming pool and diving pool as well. They also have a summer program to teach young kids how to swim in the summer. If you love swimming , this school has a great program for swimmers. They have a good cross country team (Coach Kurt, who was the gym teacher at walker elementary) and when I was there in the 90's are basket ball team was great, who knows today? The wood shop class was a lot of fun here. I still have the end table that I made from a few pieces of oak. I wish I was able to complete my table that we were finishing, but I had to move. A few of my class mates and the kids I grew up with who attended here ended up going to Harvard and Yale. It's a good school. My only regret is that I wish I had applied myself better when I attended. I give the school five stars, as I feel the school did the best that they could, at least at that time. The teachers didn't give up and my history teacher who on the first day of class I thought was going to be the meanest lady I ever met, turned out to be the nicest and sweetest. That was a life lesson. Those who attended here during 94-98 probably without a doubt had the most fun here. Athough this has to do with politics, the school lunch program seriously needs to be changed. The food served was terrible. Our lunches consisted of French fries, Pizza, Burgers and fried tatter totters, and we wonder why childhood obesity is now becoming the norm. Of course, who could forget the vending machines full of sodas, chips and cookies. read more

Administration team steals kids lunches and has no issue bragging about it. Two of the new Administrators stopped my car as I was leaving for half days and demanded to search my car with out the police being there and they have no respect for students as far as listening to their concerns this is my senior Year and the previous team of advisors and staff was fantastic idk if it was budget cuts but I love Matt Lesar as principal and I do enjoy the teachers at the school they have had a huge impact on my high school career but the amount of changes in administration and the lack of control over the student body as far as pranks and bomb threats is out of control. Makes the school look trashy. We have great sporting and fine arts programs! I attend several event and it's nice to see the interaction between students and staff and different school. The fact that we have iPads that are outdated and technology that don't being used to its fullest potential is very sad and a waste of tax payers money. I also think they should be bringing the school together more and having a tight knit community. We need to have more events like movie days and events for well behaved kids. Teachers are also very understanding of each students individual needs and perspectives. I also wish they would include the special education department and kids in a lot more activities and stop the bullying between people of different diversities and backgrounds. We need to practice more weather safety drills, intruder drills, and lockdown drills I feel like we need to be more prepared as a student and staff body and know that everyone is on the same page. There are also a lot of classrooms and things that could be improved like the desks and paint in the hallways and classrooms. The gym needs to be fixed due to flooding early in the 2016-2017 school year. We need solid air and heating for the different seasons and it's fun to have more classroom conceptions and we should have more spirit days to bring together the school community. The counselors and mentors at the high school need to be more informed as well as the money for school student body councils and he music and band programs I feel are under appreciated at performances and we need to acknowledge achievements for not just sports but for musicians and artists etc. also! I do like that we have a school police officer I wish we had more than one! Also the amount of kids on their phones is shocking and the fact that kids are failing is insane and the amount of kids who can't tell time or read cursive or can't spell properly or who don't like to do homework Or read blows my mind! Parent teacher conferences need to be happening more often as well as teachers getting grades in on time and more communication with students and parents and other members of staff! Students need to apply themselves more in the classroom setting and the teachers need to be more enthusiastic and the substitute teachers need to be informed of what to do in emergency situations including during fire alarms and drills or bomb threats. They need to bring in the drug k9'a and check lockers more often and track down stolen items for like cellphones and iPads. School lunches are a joke they don't meet the Michelle I mama health standards and the lunch program servers are rude and have nothing good to say about their job! The classrooms and bathrooms are disgusting and need to be cleaned better like deep cleaning speed to be happening Monday Wednesday's and Friday's as well as in the weekends This school is a complete joke it use to be better and it has gone down hill! read more
