While looking for our wedding photographer, we had several interviews before deciding on Nathan. Obviously the first thing that caught our eye was his style and ability to capture the moment in a truly unique way. After that, it was his demeanor and his attention to what we wanted from him as our photographer that caused us to go with him. Another huge plus for us was his straight forward pricing in his packages, we felt that we got a great service at a great value. We had some ideas of what we wanted for our engagement session, but what Nathan captured for us was well beyond what we expected. All we really told him was the general are that we wanted to have our pictures, and the day of the shoot, he already had a solid idea of what he was going to shoot. I've been reluctant to start reviewing on Yelp, but it's time to break that. I wanted to save it for something special rather than some amazing food rec. So I decided to make my first Yelp review go out to Nathan Nowack. I was referred to him by other friends of mine that had him as their photographer. Funny thing is, he already knew who I was as "the dancing guy" from my friend's wedding, and he had proof of the dancing (I was a finalist in the dance off, so it shows I've got some dancing skills...or I just know how to make a fool of myself). My then-fiancée and now wife initially contacted him nearly 3 years ago (geez it was a while ago) when we initially started planning our wedding. His office in Fullerton was nice, cozy, and he made you feel welcome as well as well-informed of what you would be getting with his services (you can also ask about his logo if you're interested). We did not end up getting married then, and had to break the unfortunate news to Nathan. My husband actually found Nathan through another website, we looked at his work and were very impressed by his shots. We emailed him and got a response right away. We met up with him the following week and it was all over! He was the one and only photographer we spoke to, and hired him right away back in September 2013. We didn't have an engagement shoot, but we still felt so comfortable with him. We were worried about our photographers being intrusive but Nathan and his staff were quote the opposite. Half the time we forgot he was even there! He captured shots organically, and didn't have to "stage" us because he had missed a shot. We had the "typical" shots but he also knew how to capture our unique style as well and get those "fun" photos in. As an additional service, we had Nathan prepare some "getting ready" photos to be displayed at our slideshow at dinner and the guests loved it. They said they had never seen it done before! The poor guy had to work all day in 90 degree weather, sweating bullets but never once complained. He just powered through the entire day without letting up. Yelp is not a dating site. That being said, my husband and I met on yelp a few years ago, so when it came to planning our wedding, naturally, we turned to yelp. My husband works in the photography industry and we had gotten offers from various photographers to shoot our wedding (some we could afford and some we couldn't), but none of them offered the style I was looking for. Nathan was one of the best reviewed photographers I found and I absolutely loved his style of photography. We met with Nathan at his studio and he was so friendly and helpful and immediately put us at ease. He is incredibly professional and puts an amazing amount of detail into everything. Even the contract packet was pretty! His style of photography is modern and timeless. He helped us tailor a package based on our budget and understood our wedding theme. He put us both at ease during the engagement shoot and really captured us as a couple. On the wedding day, he and his team arrived on time and went straight to work. His wife Allison, who was his assistant for the day, was so incredibly sweet and got right to work helping him set up the shots based on a list I'd given him. He and Allison also reassured me and calmed me down when I had a little freak out about my wedding makeup. Nathan and his assistant (Jeremy Chou, also a wedding photographer) were super stealthy and I barely noticed them through out the night, but man, did they get some amazing shots!! For the portraits, they both came up with some fun, unique ideas for pictures which was awesome! I am enamored with Nathan's work and I am addicted to his blog (http://blog.weddingsbynathan.com/)! That's pretty much my review in the truncated form. We wanted to get some classic SoCal pics before we moved out of state and so in addition to the usual moving stressors I added finding an excellent photographer to my list. Thanks to Yelp I came across Nathan Nowack's site. I e-mailed him and one other photographer about a photo session. From our first contact, Nathan won me over. He responded quickly (okay, so did the other person), but even in his e-mail he was able to convey a sense of genuineness that immediately had me hooked (the other person clearly did not). After reading over his pricing information, I knew I had found what I was looking for and could cross that task off of my to do list. I peppered Nathan with lots of e-mails asking about this and that since I'm a research-aholic and he never once gave even a hint of saying "enough with the questions already -please just stop!!" Quite to the contrary, he encouraged my questions. The result of one of those inquiring e-mails was that we took his suggestion for a location in the South Bay area near the Ocean and it was absolutely perfect. Nathan embodied the affable manner I need from a photographer in order for me to have a chance at looking at least remotely photogenic (knowing there's a camera on me usually brings out my over exaggerated superficial smile--lovely!). He took an authentic interest in engaging our 20 month old daughter, which of course endeared himself to me even more. Even my normally anti-camera husband seemed to be enjoying the photo shoot. Now that's probably the highest compliment a photographer can receive from our family! I was mildly (but pleasantly!) shocked to hear him say he'd have pictures for us to see in about a week. He did a wonderful job of keeping in touch even after the photo session and provided us with some teaser photos (yep, just a week later), which I consumed with unabashed delight. Only a few hours after that, he had our session posted to his blog--something that immediately got shared with all known friends and family. Not long after that, I got another e-mail stating that the rest of the photos (of which there were many!!) were online, as well. (Oh and let's not forget that DURING our photo session we were sometimes privy to a sneak peak at the image on the camera!) The emotion of these precious random moments in our daughter's life has been beautifully captured by Nathan and I couldn't be happier with our photos. My husband and I were actually referred to Nathan by another photographer. You already know he will be a good one if another professional in the field will recommend him. before meeting Nathan, we have met up with multiple photographers for our wedding. those consultations weren't bad...they weren't good either. nothing stood out at all. But when we met Nathan, it was definitely different. He was friendly, different, professional, organized, and creative. I don't mean to offend any photographers out there, but seriously, most of our encounters with them were so awkward. there lots of moments of silence during our meetings. Nathan immediately made us feel at ease during our initial consultation. we were totally relaxed and could actually imagine how fun it would be to have our wedding/engagement photos taken by him. His prices were very fair and he was very accommodating. His response time to any phone calls and emails are super fast too! Nathan is just amazing. I've never been professionally photographed and Nathan made us feel so comfortable. Beyond that he made sure that the photos really showed our personalities. He laughed at our silly faces, but also caught the loving glances. For our engagement shoot, I had a few ideas that I floated by Nathan, he replied quickly with research about each place's rules on photography, any fees, and then suggested other places more photo friendly! We ended up taking photos in 3 different locations in downtown LA. The day of the wedding could not have been easier! He and his second photographer were there early and seemed to already know all the cool spots for photos in the hotel. They were super accommodating with my idea for a first look and made it beautiful. Then, I couldn't believe this... They gave us a ride to our wedding venue! We said we were going to Uber and Nathan so sweetly offered to drive us. Who does that?! Nathan Nowack does. The photos we came out with are fantastic. Seeing Nathan's different techniques, his use of the environment and even household materials (shiny teapots, glasses, glowsticks) was really inspiring. Nathan's email communication is so prompt and professional. We even had issues with our photos getting delivered after our wedding (not Nathan's fault, whoever stole it off our doorstep), and Nathan launched into tracking the package through the carrier and sent us a new set. He says he doesn't do maternity or baby photos, but I think after the birth of his son and by the time we get a bun in the oven Nathan might have expanded his repertoire... Nathan Nowack is extremely talented and it was a pleasure to have him shoot my wedding. We just received the pictures and they are amazing. They are worth every penny. I was really drawn to the photo-journalistic style of Nathan's photography. Since my husband (then fiance) and I decided that wedding photography was going to be one of the most important part (aside from venue) for our budget. Relatives may claim that they can take great pictures with their SLRs but it is just not the same. There is a world of difference between a professional wedding photographer and your friend or family member with an SLR. We felt that 90% of our wedding is taking pictures. There is no re-wind button to go back and re-capture those important moments. Nathan captured everything beautifully and knew exactly when, where, and how to capture those special moments. He is also has great customer service and is friendly. While we were taking pictures, he made us feel at ease even though we weren't used to being photographed so much. I also love that you get all of your photos on a USB flash drive so you can have the ability to print your own photos. This is not the case with all photographers and it was one of the most important things for me when searching for a photographer. I would not hesitate for anyone to use Nathan for your photography. Ok- I'm so so SO excited to review Nathan. He is simply AMAZING in all areas- customer service, photography and communication with both me and my husband during the very stressful time leading up to our wedding. We hired him to shoot our wedding at Disneyland and everything was just perfection. There were pictures that were taken-I had no idea how the heck he could have had the time to do all of this awesome creative stuff! We had two photographers and his wife who helped out- who honestly.... was just awesome. They made the day fun and no stress which is exactly what we wanted. Of all our wedding vendors, Nathan and his team were by far the best - professional, friendly, responsive and a real pleasure to work with. We planned our October wedding in Southern California from New York City, and he was so quick to get back to us whenever we had questions and followed through on all his promises. Amazing! Nathan took pictures for our June 2009 wedding. He is hands down the best photographer ever! I ran across all the great reviews on Yelp and decided to make an appointment to meet him. After meeting him we instantly knew he would be the person capturing our special moments. I am a matchmaker and my client hired Nathan to do some head shots for his profile. Nathan was great at corresponding with me over email to make sure we were prepared for the shoot and he understood what look I was going for. I wasn't too sure about this location, but Nathan had assured my wife and I that this location would suit what we were looking for. It was a fun afternoon and it also gave us time with Nathan to get to know him. He sent us his photos and they came out great. We were excited to see how he was able to capture us at UCI and was able to make it look completely different and like we were at several different spots. During our wedding, Nathan and his team were polite, professional and fun to be around. Nathan took photos of my wife getting ready with the Bridesmaids and another one of his team shot photos of me and my groomsmen. They got all the great shots. Just before the reception there was time to try and get artistic with the photos and stage a few shots. His team was covering the whole reception and was able to capture all the great moments. We got a sneak preview of a select few photos and were excited to see how well they came out. A few weeks later we got all the photos and were really impressed with how they came out. Nathan in one word is amazing! He takes time to listen to your needs and captures every moment to perfection. He photographed our wedding reception back in the summer and brought along a second shooter who was equally great. We couldn't be more impressed and pleased with the quality of the photography but also just working with Nathan overall - he's extremely responsive, professional, and a great person to be around. I am going to start off by saying this is not going to be a short review! We found Nathan through yelp when my now husband and I first got engaged (Jan 2011). We wanted to find someone to do both engagement shots and our wedding photography, and I really like photojournalistic type photography, so Nathan was a great fit. We met with several photographers, all who had great work to show us, but both my husband and I felt immediately comfortable when we met Nathan. He is so nice and made me feel confident that he understood exactly what we wanted. When it came time for our engagement shoot, Nathan was so patient with us! I had a fairly specific idea in mind of what I wanted the images to look like and he had a ton of great ideas for us. We decided on the UCI campus where we could get both greenery/ nature shots, and some more dressed up shots as well. My husband was VERY nervous driving over there but Nathan made him relaxed once we started. I could not have been happier with the outcome of our final pictures! He caught some amazing moments of the two of us just being our happy silly selves, which is hard to do sometimes!! We ordered a 'coffee table book' that served as our guestbook at the wedding with all our engagement pictures. LOVE IT! Over 8 months passed before our wedding (March 2012). And again, I could not be happier with how everything turned out! Nathan brought a second photographer and an assistant (his wife!), and we have over 1200 images of the entire day. I really wanted to do a 'first look' between my husband and I before the ceremony and I am so incredibly glad we did. The pictures are amazing... Nathan captured such amazing emotion between my husband and I that I cried all over again looking at them. I will remember that moment forever so I am so grateful for Nathan's photos. We took all of our pictures before the ceremony and he kept us on time and everything went smoothly! There were 18 people in our bridal party to coordinate and he did an amazing job taking charge and getting some great shots. Ceremony pictures were amazing, and some classic late night dance floor pictures too. I have been busy looking through all of our pictures, and LOVE so many of them it is going to be hard to narrow it down for our wedding album. If you are looking for a wedding photographer, you cannot go wrong with Nathan. Our wedding would not have been the same without him and his team. We will definitely be seeing him again in the future for dog/baby/family pictures!! read more

This review is LONG overdue considering we got married in January. But I had to make sure that I posted something. We found Nathan through Wedding Wire very early on in our search or vendors. At that point, we didn't have a date or venue secured. Although nobody made a bad impression with us for not having replied the first day we sent e-mails, Nathan certainly got bonus points for replying to us on a Sunday evening. We looked at his work online and my (then) fiance was impressed--which kind of takes a lot. So we set up a meeting. After talking to Nathan for a short time and getting to know him, we decided not to look any further for a photographer. While we were in the car on the way home we looked at each other and said --so..we're booking him, right? If most pictures are worth a thousand words, Nathan's are worth ten thousand. Although we knew we were willing to spend a little more money on pictures, we still were not able to break the bank. He is also flexible and can work with a range of budgets (ours being on the lower end). We told Nathan how much we wanted to spend and what we wanted and he made something work for us. I also appreciate that Nathan is not only easy going, but puts everyone at ease around him. I spent a good part of my wedding day with him and really appreciated his sense of calm. He is organized and checked with us to make sure he got everything we wanted. When tons of other newlyweds are worried about seeing their pictures, we got ours in a timely manner and have been able to share them with our friends and family. read more

Nathan shot our family at a beautiful park in Brea. He was more than easy to work with and even allowed us to quickly reschedule after a rainy forecast for the day of our original shoot. Because of the reschedule he promised a quick turn-around and surprised us by having our photos done just one day later! My husband was dreading having family photos done and kept trying to postpone or cancel but afterwards commented on how easy and natural it was with Nathan and said even just one of the photos of our precious girls was worth the entire shoot. We loved the finished product and have already ordered for family Christmas gifts. I would 100% recommend Nathan and plan on using him again soon! read more

Nathan You will not hide from a bad review. I did speak to you for over an hour and booked you for my event. You never sent a contract and you were a no show. DO not try to get me to back down and have the comment removed. You were a no show after telling me that you would be there. We did discuss price, location and shots that were to be taken. chadd and i have been together for a long time and never really had cool photographs of us and so i wanted to get a pro! my wonderful sister in law hired nathan for her wedding and i loved all the photos! so bam! i hired him to photograph chadd and i and boy did i get some amazing photos! nathan is a very talented and very professional photographer! he made chadd and i feel super comfortable because he is so easy to talk to. He even gave us tips on how to choose neat places in los angeles. which was super-helpful because there are a lot of places that charge(like the huntington) and there are places that are less crowded. nathan is also very creative with framing shots. i loved the cool angles! i love that we will have these photos forever! big thanks nathan from hope and chadd :) read more

We decided that it was about time that we took our very first professional family picture, so we turned to yelp and found Nathan. From our very first meeting, he was friendly and personable. He had all kinds of suggestions as to where we should take our pictures, and we decided on a beach photo-shoot. Nathan then proceeded to show us some sample shots and we were immediately impressed with the quality of the photos he takes. I know many people have the misconception that family portraits are full of awkward forced smiles, but with Nathan we got the exact opposite. On the day of our shoot, he somehow managed to capture the best smiles and the best laughs of the day. We didn't feel awkward at all. He even got our fidgety Bichon Frise dog to cooperate, and got some really great shots of the kids and the dog. We ended up with around 100 quality pictures. He was quick getting the final photos back to us, but you can tell that he did so with expertise and care. Overall, we highly recommend Nathan. He is so professional and talented at what he does.
