Predatory Pricing and Unprofessional Conduct This review cost me $150, please use this knowledge. I strongly advise potential customers to look elsewhere. What was scheduled as a simple $100 service call to add a single space to my panel was immediately escalated by their technicians into a $13,000 verbal quote. They claimed my entire service line and panel were "compromised," yet they refused to provide the written diagnostic report I paid an additional $150.00 to receive. For three weeks, I was subjected to a cycle of misinformation and delays. My interactions with "Rob" (owner Robert West) were particularly unprofessional; after misleading me for weeks and stalling my project, he promised a full refund that never arrived. I was very worried after hearing this. Completely ignored for weeks. Rob gladly cashed my check though anyway. This company appears to rely on high-pressure "emergency" tactics followed by a total lack of accountability once they have your money. Used this company on January 1st of this year to replace a breaker box. They cut holes in 3 walls in our house in order to diagnose the problem. We paid over $9000 for all the work which was supposed to include repairing our walls. As of today, June 3, they have never returned to repair the walls they cut open in the first place. We have sent texts and called and left messages for them. We were promised that they would come last week, again they were a no show, no call. Beware! If you have an electrical emergency they will rip you off for thousands of dollars. They told me I needed to replace and upgrade my whole panel, when I only needed a repair. They forged my signature on an agreement not to take legal action against them. This is intentional. They charge you through PayPal so you can't complain to your credit card company. And the manager, Robert West, won't even stand by their work and put in writing that the work was needed. Their defense is, "We tricked you, you signed." They are liars and cheat. I would suggest you seek help from another company before referring to National Electric. I gave two starts because of the gentleman who completed the work. He was awesome. The rest of the rating was based on interaction with the owner. He has zero customer service skills and does not follow up as he stated he would. Get someone else to do it. I contacted Robert explained how I wanted a transfer switch installed. I wanted to run the ac. He explained that the ac was connected to the meter. I had a 60 amp box needs to be upgraded to operate the 50 amp generator. Upgraded panel installed plug on the outside was installed. I was shown the hook up steps to the generator. I was told after the job was done a transfer switch was not needed to be installed. That was only for the stand by generators for auto switching. I said what about the ac ? . Oh that is connected to the meter like I told you before. . I guess this part was lost in translation this was the whole reason why I called you out so I can run the ac when the powers out. So if I want to have this done will cost you extra to do this . Lesson learned I guess. read more

We had some electrical work we needed done and I got in touch with Robert/ the owner and he is fantastic!!! He got his guys out right away, Kyle and Chris were fantastic!!! They did a great job, they were very reasonable, very professional, good guys! And they cleaned up. Rare nowadays!!! I highly recommend National Electric!!! They redid almost all the electrical outlets in our home and let me tell you that might sound minor but it is major at this house. After 2 day delay to get them out after scheduling, they finally showed up. Said it would cost $125 for service call and minor repairs. Well they were there less than 30 minutes and told me verbally it was a minor repair but proceeded to charge an additional $75 dollars. Why? Because they had to add 4 inches of wire to a light switch and still called it minor. I'd recommend not using them. Typical bait and switch business model. read more

I totally totally forgot about our bad experience with this company last year when I called them. They were the only one that claimed they had someone available. Well after being told "someone is on the way" over the course of 4+hours, I finally cancelled the appt and waited till the next day where I had a more reputable company come out and address my issue. In addition, when I called to cancel the appt, the person I spoke to told me to just turn the guy away. It was then late in the eveving. I told him I was not opening my door. This company had the Balls to quote Me a price of $1000 bucks for installing the outside main Circuit Breaker to our House after they had already installed a new 100 Amp Service Box[inside home] and charged an incredible price of $1500 Bucks when it should have been no more than $750.00[which did not solve Flickering Light Problem]. Both Boxes together[Square "D"] should have not been more than $1300.00 total Labor and parts. In retrospect....had We allowed them to do both boxes it would have been a total of 2,500.00. Total Rip-off Company run by Mr. Robert West. We had the Main Breaker installed by another Electric Company for $500 total. If You ever have flickering Lights problem..please call and ask for Quotes from 5 different Electrical Companies that do business only in Your immediate Geographical area. I've had a love hate relationship with National Electric. When I moved into my new home in Flat Rock, MI in August, the previous owners had an unsafe electric set up in the house and the wiring had to be completely redone. Nothing was even grounded, it was a complete mess and it ended up costing us a fair penny to get it fixed. During part of the process, there was some wiring in the kitchen that was not fixed. I talked to them over the phone, and they said that they could come check it out, and if it was found to part of the original work job (which costed over a grand) that they would do it for free. Well, they scheduled an appointment for two weeks ago, then called the morning of the appointment and said that they had a bigger job they needed to do, and would need to reschedule. Well, the day they rescheduled to this week they did not show up nor would they answer their phone or return our calls for several hours. Finally after calling from a different phone number, Robert answered the phone and said that when he scheduled the appointment, he was in his vehicle and forgot to put it on the books. Robert said he would call one of his guys who wasn't terribly far from where I live, and see when he could help us out then call us back. Well, we waited several hours and Robert nor anybody else from this business called me back or showed up. The only reason that I am giving this place a two-star is because the original work they did was good. Unfortunately, I learned that this business does not stand behind their work, although they say they do! Also, I feel like I was ignored by staff/management, and wasted a lot of time. I will be using a different electrician for the remained of the work, and will not be contacting this place again. Absolutely horrible customer service. We have a roofing customer that needs electrical work done. After schedule conflicts of trying to meet on-site they said they could just use pics. I sent pics they said they would email quote. That was 2 weeks ago. This poor customer has water coming in their house with each rain, over their electrical box and no response to my calls or voice-mail or emails. They have finally answered 3 times, twice they told me they would get thus to me, the last time I let them know this was BS these people need this and they hung up on me. Then sent me to VM. I went online and gathered several companies. I call National Electric. Was told a service man would contact me within an hour. Chris was here in 10 minutes! He was polite and knowledgeable. I showed him the problem. He solved the issue, charged a fair billing and I am highly pleased. I would reccomend them for your electrical issue. read more

If I could rate this zero stars, I would. I am a real estate agent. My client spoke with an electrician on Saturday about scheduling an estimate for a complete electrical update in the home he's purchasing in Allen Park. Something got crossed somewhere, and at 330 on Monday, while we had the home scheduled for us, we had no electrician. My client called the company, and they sent someone out immediately. The problem was that we were unable to stay in the home any longer due to our appointment time, and at the last minute (and apparently as Dennis, the on call electrician was almost at the home) he called back to cancel. He was not rude or disrespectful in any way, and he apologized for the inconvenience he caused. He was promptly hung up on, and when he returned to his phone later that afternoon, had gotten a text message from Dennis stating "Another Keller Williams Ann Arbor. Huron v electric jerk off. Pay back is a bitchz." I'm not really sure who he is talking about, as the client most certainly doesn't work for KW, the listing agent works for KW, nut not the Ann Arbor location. If he'd taken a moment to read the sign out front, he would know that. I was so put off and disgusted, I will make sure no one I know ever uses this company. read more

I called them and asked if they would be able to come out to my property that same day and they said it was no problem....they did not show up, so i called them the next day and they said the same thing again that they would be out there that day.... still nothing. The job was to rewire lights in 3 bedrooms and a hallway light. The 'electrician' who came out four different times never finished the job and never called or came back. I called Robert (Redford) out to my house on 5/14 after dealing with Home Services for two (2) hours and they did not resolve the issue, they stated they needed more time. So I decided to contact National Electrical in Redford MI. Robert came out and stated that he knows what the problem was and would be back on Wednesday 5/16 to fix the problem. I have been contacting him several times a day since Wednesday and he keeps stating that he is going to come by and fix the issue but he has not. I asked if I should move on to another Electrician and he stated that he is still coming by but never shows up. I have expressed to him how important this is to fix the issue but to no avail. He keeps stating he is coming by but never shows. I think that is so unprofessional. I have not even touched on the initial quote he provided without completing a thorough analysis of the issue.
