This life insurance company is the worst I have ever encountered. After my wife's and my 10-year term policy ended, they increased our rates by an outrageous 800% to 1000%. For the past six months, we have been repeatedly billed, despite calling them at least five times, having our agent contact them multiple times, and myself reaching out directly to their Austin office. I strongly warn everyone to steer clear of this unethical and ungrateful company. They have capitalized off us for thousands of dollars without ever paying a claim, and now, more than six months after canceling the policy, they continue to harass us with bills. I asked for a transfer for my annuity. It has taken a long time and many forms to fill out to roll it over to an IRA. So I called them to see what's taking so long. They said all my paperwork is in good order, but they had 30 business days to make the transfer. Today is the 30th business day and it still hasn't been transferred, so I called again. Now they say it takes 30-45 business days. They changed the story and said they can't say where the information is available for me to see, but it will be "expedited". I'm paying an $8,000+ fee just for taking out my own money, and they are holding onto my money for as long as they can get away with. This is greedy and unscrupulous behavior. read more

Up to $2500.00 is what they say their "settlement fee" is. i wish that was better explained at the time i signed up. if the same has happened to you. file a complaint with the better business bureau. For the past seven years, I kept three accounts open with National Life. When I realized that I earned sixty-seven cents ($.67) from 2021 to 2023 on over $10,000, I decided to transfer my money elsewhere. It's been three months since I sent the papers in. National Life released the two lesser accounts but refused to release the larger one. At first, I was told it would take thirty days. Now, they tell me it might take up to six (6) months. This is outrageous. I requested to speak to a manager. It's been a week and a half. No one called me back. National Life Insurance is greedy and repugnant in its practice. Called at lesst 7 times in one week.
