The perfect place for a regular short walk ( 50 mins or so) followed by a coffee in the excellent restaurant. Also a small but attractive play area for small children. The park gets very busy at weekends-a bit like going for a walk in Piccadilly Circus but with toddlers on bikes and dogs. But Saltram is a real gem in the midst of built up Plymouth. The house is interesting-if not the best local NT property. But staff are loyal and love the place and the Italian Garden , tucked just behind the house,is one of the most peaceful spots in Plymouth. Austen fans will know that it's worth seeing as the location for Emma Thompson's 'Sense and Sensibility' -you can even touch the tree where Margaret built her tree house! read more

This is an excellent day out. There are many walks to do to suit all abilities. My family enjoy walking round the gardens as you can be assured that the children aren't going to step in any dog mess (unlike many other walks around the area) There are many different routes to take so not every visit is the same. In the reception area there is a trail for the children to do as they go round the garden, so this adds a bit of extra fun. The house itself is lovely with many rooms to explore. read more

This is a brilliant place to suit all ages. Plentiful parking and space. Good strolls down to the small beach or through to Plymbridge Woods. The cafe has been revamped and is much better. There is a pond which is great for wildlife watching. The shop has very good gifts and cards. The house itself has many interesting features and gardens. Well worth a visit. read more
