This branch - not far from Princess street - is hidden away from the crowds, because of the Tramline being built. Nevertheless, the personnel are keeping up their spirits and are still as helpful as ever. The branch has a spacious environment and if it needs be, it offers privacy using closed off cubicles.

Saying that after over a year with Nationwide I must admit I am pretty impressed with their level of service, their product offerings and their no nonsense approach. Personally like the fact I don't pay fees when using my card abroad and their low mortgage rates. I use this branch due to the local proximity, the branch is usually busy so do expect some waiting time though there is always someone checking the queue to see if they can be of assistance. That being said I only went there twice as I prefer doing most things online. It gets 4 stars for the pleasant service received at each of my visits, the kiddies toy to keep my son happy whilst we waited and the fact that they never tried to upsell me anything. Could do better with their opening hours or waiting time, hence why they are one star away from perfect. Honestly a bank/building society I am not ashamed to recommend.

For the rest of my trip, I went with ATM withdrawals as the fee my bank charged me was small and they ran the conversions. Going through the in-person exchange was a confidence builder, especially at the beginning of the trip. I was asked questions about how I wanted the currency and what exchange rate I wanted. It helped me pay attention to what the different bills and coinage were. While I did not use another currency exchange place on my trip, it was helpful to have the in-person exchange in my repertoire to know I could do it again if I needed to.
