I went to the HSBC and spoke to an adviser and was so impressed by the patter they gave. I was advised to move to what was called HSBC Premiere this is a different section of the bank where you are given a personal manager to to take care of your funds and financial needs. The issues that l had with the HSBC was that every time that l went to use the card it got rejected, not through lack of funds but due to the bank thinking that purchases l was making was out of character, l would understand if l was trying to transfer money to Nigeria or gambling I would consider that out of character but all I was doing was a food shop. Their customer services number is a premium rate number and expensive to call with nearly all the customer service agents speaking hardly any English and so l kept asking them to repeat what they where trying to say, in the end l had to walk into the branch to sort it out. In the end the customer service & card issues made me move back to the Bank of Scotland. Question: would you recommend the HSBC Answer: A big No

It's a fairly small branch, and its cash machines are generally mobbed, especially during busy shopping times like Saturday afternoons and Thursday evenings. I think that people tend to forget that there's a Lloyds around the corner and a Bank of Scotland one block along the road. I went in ehre to open up my graduate account, since their overdraft terms are a lot more reasonable than those at my previous student bank, HSBC. It didn't take long to set up and the teller was very helpful. The bank itself as a means for withdrawing money, depositing cheques, and other routine things seems to be pretty good in general. The queues can be pretty long but since it's small there are only so many people you can cram in at once. Pretty much all you could ever want or need from a city centre bank branch.

The new boys on the plot have taken a different approach to the world of personal banking in addition to the standard bank services that are offered they have taken visiting the bank to a whole new level. Attached to the bank is a members lounge where any bank customer can visit with a guest if they desire. They have WiFi, ipads, iMacs, coffee machines, a cinema and even a mini library all be it filled with Richard Branson's books. The staff are amazing and treat the whole thing as an experience for the customer rather than just banking. It is worth opening an account with virgin just to get access to their lounges let alone the banking services which so far have been great too.

It's big, comfortable and has the bog standard - but relatively nice - traditional Bank of Scotland decor in it; including grey speckled carpets and the like. The staff are pleasant enough and certainly seem to know their products well. This is especially clear in their questioning sales pitch for: 1) Car insurance. 2) Home insurance. 3) Building insurance. 4) Mobile phone insurance. 5) Platinum and/or Gold current accounts. I've found the best way to avoid getting tangled into long and drawn out conversations relating to the above it to make it abundantly and quickly evident that: 1) You don't have a car. 2) You've just renewed your home insurance. 3) You have to take your building insurance out through your factors. 4) You have a cheap mobile phone because you forever lose/break it. 5) You have very limited funds coming into your account regularly. To be honest the only time I head to the bank is if the card machine has swallowed my card, which seems to happen to me a lot more than your average person. It's so annoying! The only downside is the fact that they try to sell you everything from credit cards to holiday insurance that you just don't want or need. They're pretty persistent though but not as bad as some other branches. It's a reasonable size and as well as general bank related queries there is a section for business banking too. This bank also hosts a card machine outside which is very handy and it doesn't charge you for transactions.

They just keep being nice to me... stop is guys, stop it…read more Kicking about in the city with a mind full of banking type tasks to do, you'll find me in a state of brain fog, avoiding buses, bumping into folks and generally muttering things like: 'Where does it go? How much? Do I have a pen?' These dudes almost make it simple: Make an appointment with these dudes, turn up, get taken on time and with a smile... can you ask for more? If you bank with these guys, they just make it simple. Easy.

I banked with the bank of Scotland for over 30+ years ever since l was a kid, it was a sad day to move to a rival. The co-operative bank may not offer more interest than most places, but they sure make up with the personal touch, with most staff not even looking like bankers, with many of the staff remembering clients by first name, here l feel I'm not just a number. I'd gone into the nameless bank a few doors up just before this - wanting to talk to someone about opening an account - and has left sorely disappointed with the service I received. This was not the case in this Santander branch, though. Within about three minutes of walking in the door I was sat down in a booth with a knowledgeable lady offering me chocolates. She answered all my questions and filled in an application form for me all in about twenty minutes. Perfect.

Firstly, it's not inside Silverburn - you need to leave out the back entrance (by TGI Fridays) towards the bus terminal and walk around to the left. There you'll find Cosmo Restaurant and further along is Pollok Credit Union and a Post Office sharing a space. I popped in as I needed posting supplies, like a posting bag/envelopes. Nope, they don't have any of that here - just a couple of people at the Post Office counter and a couple of people at the Credit Union counter. I felt incredibly awkward walking in as every person in the place turned to look at me. So I hightailed it out of there rather than asking if they actually sold any posting accessories, but from my quick look around the place, they don't. Maybe you need to ask at the counter? Who knows, but this place was decidedly weird.
