She was unorganized, unprepared and rushed. Although we had discussed a deep cleaning prior to the cleaning date, she seemed unaware of the plan. We had to spend another 15 minutes discussing what she was willing to do again. She didn't come with all her supplies and didn't seem to want to do much of anything, so we eliminated several rooms and tasks, which in hindsight I was grateful for because the work was just ok. After 2 hours, she announced she was leaving early because she had personal things to take care of, which explained why she was rushing and looked at me funny when I listed out things I needed cleaned, but she would give us a discount for 2.5 hours of work. Hm. That's weird math but at this point I was done too. She charges by the hour and you have to point out every little thing that needs to be done, which isn't efficient when I needed a full house done. They aren't the best value either. She's a team of one for $60/hr. You can do the math. She mentioned she cleaned Airbnbs previously which made sense. Cleaning a short term rental where people stayed a couple days is really different than a house with 2 people and 2 big dogs who live there 24/7. They're more of a tidying up service than a cleaning service in my opinion.

I offered $300 for the initial cleaning but $140 per week thereafter, as that better fit our budget, and they agreed. They came out as scheduled for the initial cleaning and I paid them $300. Our house looked nice, and took the two of them right around 4 hours to complete the job, time stamped by text messages from them, which breaks down to $75 dollars per hour or $37.50 per person, per hour. That seemed high but because they claimed to be willing to work with me on the weekly rate, I didn't balk. They thanked me for prompt payment and told me they looked forward to cleaning for me the following week. When it came time for the next weekly cleaning, they were running late, and needed to let me know they would not make it that day, but could try to fit me in the following day. I didn't want them to rush so I proposed skipping that week and, yet again I would pay the 2x monthly price of $180 since it would be 2 weeks between cleaning. It was agreed and I was promised my home would be a priority moving forward. The day of the next scheduled cleaning came and it was no call, no show. I reached out for an update several times, and finally asked for a refund of the amount I paid over the initial quote, considering they did not own up to our agreement. I was refused, saying that $220 was only an estimate, and it would have been $300 anyway once they began cleaning, despite the fact that her and her partner both walked through my entire home for an accurate quote, and no other cleaning company I reached out for an estimate, came in at that hourly rate. They did a decent job cleaning, the one time they actually showed up, but the lack of professionalism, unwillingness to provide a partial refund when they did not own up to their agreement, and utter lack of any attempts to correct the situation, is extremely disappointing.

The communication was professional, and they were very accommodating when I needed to get rescheduled. I had requested for their move out cleaning services, and was very impressed on how they left my 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment. The appliances were left spotless, the windows and blinds were dust free, and the bedroom and bathrooms were super clean! They were able to clean everything in about 4 hours or so, which in my mind is pretty fast. They were all super nice and friendly! If you're looking for family owned cleaning service to hire for your home, I highly recommend Sparkle Cleaning!
