Love this place so much - it is my go-to. I like that it is so comfortable in here, all the workers are chill, and it is smaller and so cozier than Whole Foods, so it feels like some witch's comfy cove when you are feeling those vibes. Natural G has a substantial supplement section, everyone knows and the cutest cosmetic/hygiene/candle corner as well. I had an issue with a product and asked for a return/store credit. They have a 90 day satusfaction guarantee policy. When I approached José, the store manager, he became defensive and then verbally offensive. I spoke to the head of Customer Sevice, Carol Matthews, who disregaurded my experience and ignored any further attempts at communication. Natural Grocers has lost a customer for life. If you like the Natural Grocers at South Gate you will love this one. The selection seems to be larger and there seems to be more really friendly staff around to help. And if you are thinking , "but wait, what about the Whole Foods across the street?". If I could give them less stars I would! I just went to store on Academy and ran into 5 people not wearing masks! I asked for manager because store personal just stood there expressionless after I reported this, he literally just stood there saying nothing!!! when someone else called manager a young girl came up and stated she would not do anything as that is their policy! I told them that I would then take my business to another store and I would report them! I spoke to county and they took report and stated they would be taking this report seriously because they have had many complaints at this store! I then went to sprouts and witnessed a store clerk politely going up to an man and asked him to please put on a mask and he proceeded to put a mask on! I appreciate businesses who respect their well-being and those of their patrons! What was sad is while I sat in front of natural grocers to call the county not one person going into store appeared to be under 50-60 years of age! I shop here about once a week for a few select items. Their prices can be better or worse than the other health food stores depending on what you buy. My favorite things to buy here are dairy, bulk food items, Kombucha, snacks, uncured bacon, tea, and soap. If you drink milk, you have to try the pasture raised non-homogenized milk. Their prices are fair and this is "real" milk. I've been shopping here for years and I have never encountered any staff member that had a bad attitude. They are helpful and ask me if I need assistance in finding items. I love Natural Grocers! Be cautious of reviews who say it is not as good as Sprouts or Whole Foods. I don't think that is fair because I do not think it is trying to BE either of those things. It is a hybrid and it does a great job with all its offerings. I have always found the employees to be helpful. Extremely so. Their prices used to be a tiny bit better than Whole Foods, but now it seems they are pricing at the same price or just below. I like this store very much. It is well kept, well organized and they have a great produce section. I love the fact they have sample bottles in the health & beauty section so you can try different things. I find the store clerks courteous and professional. I also am signed up on their website so periodically I receive coupons and discounts. Prices are about average for this type of store, the egg prices are the best I've found. read more

I love this store and shop here often. Unlike Whole Foods and Sprouts, I don't have to worry about accidentally getting conventional produce. All produce is organic. "Organic" does not mean "out of sight expensive." In fact, more than once, by buying in-season and on-sale, I've actually gotten produce cheaper than I would have at the Walmart down the street! Terrible customer service. I can go across the street to Whole Foods where there is NO attitude. AND...if I don't have a receipt, I don't feel I was just at the border patrol or talking to a police officer. I mean, if it is less than $5.00, calling a manager and speaking in hushed tones, like I was shoplifting is flat out unacceptable treatment of any customer! But at least the youngster called. The previous complaint, over a bag of cookies, the jerk said, "I am ot calling a manager" when I POLITELY asked for one since I didn't have my (cue German accent) "papers", um, I mean "receipt". So, for a bag of cookies $3.99 (that were hard as rocks), and once for a raw chocolate drink that tasted terrible...for a whopping $3.45 . I HAD the receipt for that, but no drivers license. I had all the other info, but she insisted on calling the cops, er, I mean manager to harass, er I mean "approve" me. Do I sound bitter and angry? Of COURSE I do. This would piss off a statue. Plus, the manager couldn't control herself and offered a snippy "Well, I can make an exception, but...did you DRIVE here?" Um, yes and could it be...IN MY CAR? This was after I emptied out my entire coin purse, while 2 customers walked away, to look for it. THEN I got the mini-lecture. I called about this 2nd incident, and the cust service manager didn't sound particularly apologetic, and just said she would handle it. AND mentioned my other complaint. That's fine...cuz WHOLE FOODS never does this sh*t. I was coming to NG's because I thought it was an improvement. NOPE. And with that, because it seems like the attitude is "just give lip service and then ignore the cust and they will disappear"...my business is now with your competitor for good. read more

Visited Natural Grocers today to grab a full body detox and some probiotics. I made my way to the vitamin aisle and was greeted by a manager Coby/Cody can't remember. Anyway he was extremely knowledgeable about both products and I asked a ton of questions. I know that can be annoying some times. At any rate Coby/Cody answered those questions as well as asked me questions so that he could understand more exactly my goal. His knowledge was absolutely fantastic and I will be a customer for life. As I was leaving I asked him how he knew so much information and was so educated about the products and he told me "I love my job"! Great Job I will definitely be back! read more

I have been to this store a handful of times, but after nearly every visit I get home with produce (or other food items) that, upon closer inspection, has obviously gone bad. I've gotten moldy sprouts, rotten avocados (that looked and felt fine), and fermented salsa. This week, I finally got around to returning with a few bad items so I could inform them. Figured they would want the sell-by-date/batch number of the products for reference. The checker at the register called a supervisor(?) over, who then proceeded to grilled me as to why I would wait a week to bring product back, then scolded me and told me about how I was lucky they would accommodate me this time, but in the future it would be different. I tried to make it clear that I didn't even care about getting a refund; I was trying to do them a favor by informing them about their product having gone bad. He clearly didn't get it, and continued to lecture me, then stormed off. This young man was incredibly rude, condescending, and clearly not invested in the success of his store. I won't be returning, and I hope others will take their business elsewhere too. Whole Foods is one block away and has consistently better produce at similar prices. And better customer service, clearly. read more

This is a great alternative to the Whole Foods on the other side of Academy. While store is smaller than WF and has a much smaller produce section, all of the produce is organic. The smaller produce section means you may be left looking for some items elsewhere, but the prices are almost always better than what you'll find across the street at WF. For us, the price difference on yogurt and Quorn products is worth the trip alone. Canned goods and bulk items also tend to be cheaper, and you can find a somewhat wider selection of natural meat products, although they are mostly frozen. A tip for shopping here: Bring your own bags! They no longer offer bags, but do have various boxes that you can use to haul away your purchase. Bringing your own bag makes it easier, however. read more

Vitamin Cottage is great for bulk dry goods like flour and spices. I bought some really great smelling onion and garlic powder last time I went in there. It's also a good place to buy organics and specialty foods like greek yogurt. It's small, so they don't have everything, but it's worth popping in here before hitting up Whole Paycheck up the street. read more

Ive shopped here about 10 times in the last few years. Heavy traffic during prime time is frustrating. The iles are small and it feels like playing bummer carts. Ive had superior customer support with friendly staff members going out of their way to help order Organic Girl Supper Greens. Their prices are cheaper than WF, but they lack the variety in deli and vegs. If you out window shopping, NG is not your kind of place. If you know exactly what you like to purchase and saving money is priority than NG is your destination. One final note, dont expect the cashiers to engage in any conversation. I love that all of the food is high quality. All the produce is organic and most of it is local. Sometimes the selection isn't great, but that's the problem with local Colorado. Produce. I wish they carried more meat; what they do have is vacuum sealed or frozen, which makes me wonder how old it is. VC is the only place I know of where you can buy ostrich or elk meat though. The spices and bulk items are great. This is the only place I buy nuts, seeds, and flour because they are refrigerated (and not rancid). read more

Not so good vibes here much of the time. Produce is overpriced and meat, cheese, and bakery items are substandard.

They may not have a huge selection though they have plenty of the stuff I want. A lot of their bulk goods are produced locally, which I love. It's important to buy local produce as much as possible. I'm not so sure if they are cheaper than Whole Foods as I haven't really shopped at Whole Foods much. I have a feeling they probably are...and I also like to support the little guy, them being a local company and all. The people working there are also very friendly. It has a small local market feel. Better prices on vitamins, dairy and bulk spices than Whole Foods. Produce prices are sometimes better but the quality is sometimes shockingly poor. Most important to me if Vitamin Cottage's lacking customer service. It just does not compare with WF. Example: I had them to check for backstock on a multi-vitamin. No they didn't have it and oh well. At WF they would have checked to see when it would be back in stock and then call me when it was. If you get a poor product at Vitamin Cottage, they will replace it. Whole Foods will replace AND refund your money. read more

Greatest little grocery store with your health concerns in mind. Vitamin Cottage's staff is the friendliest and most knowledgeable in town. They have the fairest and lowest prices when it comes to organic food and supplementation. And amazingly their "little store" actually has the largest selection of supplementation of any health food store in Colorado Springs (only out done by specialized supplement stores like Vitamin Shoppe). They have a fairly large selection of prepacked "bulk foods" that are pre-sealed and ready to go. They also have a nutritionist on call for any detailed specific health concerns you may have, which is a nice touch. They do have a little bit of everything, but unfortunately their meat and seafood department is pretty much non-existent with only a small frozen selection. Also, they don't give plastic or paper bags to carry out your groceries, so don't forget to bring some reusable clothes bags or you'll be leaving with your groceries in a cardboard box! read more
