Now I understand there are policies in place but had Jason just showed some decent curiosity and asked a simple question to a Dr I would of felt "heard" - especially when I'm clearly feeling stressed over my bag being stolen. Jason, buddy, you have really made what I consider a constant joy of a Drs surgery to attend - into a negative experience that I will not forget anytime soon.

I found Fiona to be very skilled using experience to diagnose me expertly and assess quickly that it was actually my arm muscles restricting my neck movement. After some intense treatment of those muscles my neck is no longer strained and my posture has straightened - I feel great. I'm 64 years old and have a history with my back since I was in my 20's. This back issue was different from my previous issues and I wanted Tom to understand that. He listened for a good 15 minutes and asked a few questions as I went on. At the end he gave me an exercise that I had done in the past and had stopped doing that made all the difference. He explained in detail with a little model of the spine what the problem most likely was. I was very grateful for that. I don't like it when medical people just say "Take these pills and I will see you in 2 weeks." After 2 weeks I feel I'm 99% back to normal. Two weeks after seeing my GP i was the same, no improvement. Thanks very much Tom. I really appreciate it.

Don't you dare try saying you're facing an emergency, because GMC's very own Carol Beer* will stare back at you and say "Computer says NO". With GMC, I strongly recommend falling sick about 3-5 days in advance so that you can easily secure an appointment (make it 7 days to be safe...2 weeks to be super safe!). That way, when you call in to make an appointment, you'll have no problem getting in. Any earlier...you'll get bounced! My most recent experience (and this has not been the first time) was quite interesting. I needed an urgent prescription for medication (note: URGENT). I was a walk-in on a Sunday but Carol Beer said she could not fit me in and to try the next morning at 730am. On Monday at 7.28am before work began, I stood outside GMC waiting for it to open. By 7.31am it was still closed. By now, 6 other people were standing with me waiting for it to open. Soon we were joined by the courier man carrying an ASOS parcel. 7.36am and still closed. I see you lady! You're sitting at the counter! At this point the courier man carrying the ASOS parcel brazenly walks in and starts his delivery. We look at each other and then we walk in behind him. Nobody says anything. I march up to the counter and tell Carol Beer 2 about last night's discussion. She says she has no appointments for me at all, that there are only two doctors available who have back to back appointments, that I could wait if I wanted to and she would call me if there was anything that came up. I beg. It's an emergency. I need my script. I also have to go to work. Please. No. No. No. But you can wait if you want. Ok - I sit down. Two minutes after I take a seat I realize she has not asked me for my name. She has no intention of calling me. Raging, I get up and walk out. I call the clinic across the road and make an appointment with them for 6.30pm. I get my script that evening, and collect my meds. I feel safe, and my health is intact. I'm disappointed in GMC as a clinic. There seems to be a consistent shortage of doctors despite the website listing about 16 doctors, the receptionists are rude and apathetic, and there is a very odd expectation that you need to "schedule" your sicknesses. Avoid. *This may or may not be David Walliams in a dress.
