And as I sat waiting for my wax appointment, I did feel terribly scruffy in my parka and trainers. However, the staff were genuinely lovely- really welcoming and efficient...and although I felt like I'd walked into a Baby Spice beauty salon, I began to sort of like the ostentatiousness of it all! But I wasn't there to inspect the decor, so let's get down to the nitty gritty. Waxing is never pleasant and I, with a particularly low pain threshold, have always found bikini waxing to be something of a complete and utter nightmare! I usually book appointments and then chicken out at the last minute. I have been back to this place twice now, so that's saying something! The girl who did my wax was chirpy, competent and above all QUICK! Her name is Rene and she is definitely the best waxer I've ever been to. At £10, its also much cheaper than many other places in town! Now, let's return momentarily to the Pink Champagne Nail Bar. That's right, you can sip champagne whilst having your nails done. What will they think of next? So, if you want a manicure with a fancy twist, this is the place for you!

The décor is plush but understated, in shades of cream and deep plum, with the furniture in the treatment rooms in dark wood. The waiting area has a comfortable sofa with those expensive coffee table travel books for you to browse while you wait, which adds to the sensation of luxury. My massage was OK, to be honest I would have preferred a slightly stronger pressure, and its quality was really put into context by an excellent massage that I had elsewhere recently. It's not especially cheap (£45 for an hour's full body massage), but then, not that many places are. It's clear however that at Body and Soul you do pay for the atmosphere of the place, as well as the treatment.

The reception area is clean, minimalist and reminiscent of a health spa, which is the idea, obviously. When I first moved to Brighton, I was recommended the place so I thought I'd give it a go... Yes, the place smells good and yes, they sell lots of posh lotions and potions, but I have not experienced anything resembling luxury during my visits here. Ok, so admittedly hair removal isn't posh, but their hair removal prices are, so I expected a little more than waiting 20 minutes before being gruffly shuffled into a tiny room. People get tired and stressed, I know that, but I like a healthy dollop of friendliness to ease me through the grim experience of being waxed! I found my beauty therapist to be quite aggressive- she didn't test the temperature of the wax and didn't really ask what I wanted. The Treatment Rooms offer many treatments, which sound lovely, and despite my waxing experience, I would go back to try them, as I imagine this is where they excel. I'm also fairly certain their staff can't all be quite so brusk- the receptionists have always been pleasant.

I went with my husband and we particularly liked that we were given time to relax before our treatments. Having changing rooms where you are given a locker, dressing gown and slippers or flip flops at the start makes such a difference and encourages you to start the process of relaxing and enjoying the experience. I have been for far too many massages where you are asked to strip off next to the table and leave your clothes and bags in a heap on a chair, then subsequently spent the first half of the massage just trying to relax. Before my treatment the massage therapist soaked my feet in warm water, again allowing you the time to unwind before the massage began. I then had a wonderful hot stone massage and am now totally converted. It was so warming and soothing I didn't want it to end! After the treatment you are taken to the relaxation room where we were given herbal tea and water and encouraged to spend further time relaxing on the loungers before returning to the changing rooms. Again it was lovely to prolong that calm feeling and not feel rushed out as soon as the treatment was over. My massage therapist was so lovely and friendly but more importantly didn't attempt to sell me any of "all of the products we've used on you today" which I really appreciated. The only reason I can't give this five stars is that the initial waiting area did feel a little cramped and drafty as it was a cold day and you are waiting on the landing in a dressing gown. Also the noise outside the window of the treatment room seemed at points like a bottle bank and was quite hard to drown out. I will definitely return though and was very pleased that the loyalty card scheme doesn't have an expiry date like certain other day spas I've been too (I mean you Champneys).

Booking online was straight forward and easy. At the time of the appointment, I was warmly greeted by staff upon arrival and was offered a refreshment and slippers. Within 10 minutes, I was then taken up to my room and my treatment schedule was explained. I went into the infrared sauna which was a bit challenging but so refreshing once finished. My massage was two words: simply amazing. My masseur was great with the amount of pressure towards my stress points and really made me feel like it wasn't a rushed session. All in all, I can confidently say that this visit was well-spent! Will definitely come back again soon!

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, with just the right level of chat. I chose my colour from the selection of Opi polishes and the lady set to work on my hands first. I was pleased with the shape and the painting of my nails, something that can sometimes be a little hit and miss. For the pedicure I was placed in the most amazing massage chair. Not the type I have experienced before that just gently vibrates. This was was like receiving a proper massage, I almost fell asleep! Again, the pedicure was great, the dry skin scraped away from my feet by a cheese grater-like instrument! My only complaint would be that the cuticle removal was quite painful on both my fingers and toes. I was offered drinks while I waited and there were plenty of magazines to peruse. I would definitely consider coming back here in the future, with or without a voucher. Other treatments on offer include facials, waxing, massage and reflexology.

I can't explain it, I'm one of those people that feels like if my eyebrows are on point, I can conquer the world! (and not wear makeup) Anyway, in my opinion, Brighton feels pretty notorious for having eyebrow threading places that are really below par. I hadn't actually had my eyebrows threaded for over two months for fear of having them butchered. Because of this, my eyebrows were starting to look a little...*ahem* 'unkempt'. I decided I couldn;t handle it any more, and noticed that Lashious had opened on Western Road. I went inside and was greeted by two lovely ladies, and the lady who threaded my eyebrows listened patiently as I ranted about having ruined eyebrows. She did notice that they didn't quite match, and said she would do her best to make them even, and that she did! I have to say I was really impressed. I didn't feel rushed, and the lady that threaded my brows listened to me when I said I didn't want them too thin. This will definitely be my go to place to get my brows done. *Offering full beauty services from 1st June *Used to be the brow bar inside Churchill Square.
