We enjoyed a delicious dinner, listened to live music, and ended the evening watching a fantastic fireworks show over the lake. It was the perfect way to kick off the holiday weekend. On Saturday, we ventured over to The Preserve Golf Course for its grand reopening, and it was absolutely beautiful. The course blends perfectly with the surrounding nature and made for a memorable round of golf. Afterward, we spent the afternoon back at the resort enjoying everything the lake had to offer. One of the highlights was the lantern lighting at sunset--it created such a peaceful, magical atmosphere. We wrapped up the evening with karaoke, another excellent dinner, and lots of laughs with family. What really makes Honey Creek Resort special is that there's something for everyone. Whether you want to relax by the lake, golf, enjoy live entertainment, or simply spend quality time with family and friends, it's all right there. The staff was friendly, the grounds were beautiful, and the entire resort had a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Thank you for a memorable weekend filled with nature, music, laughter, and great hospitality. We're already looking forward to our next visit!

The innkeeper was kind and welcoming, but also gave us space...breakfast was plentiful--eggs, sausage, toast, and coffee. They do take special dietary requests, and asked us about that when we arrived... Our room (we stayed in the main house) was decorated with antiques and wonderful old quilts, and faced the iron wagon bridge spanning the Des Moines River...we walked back and forth across this bridge several times. Next to the inn are several interesting shops with varying hours of operation...the general store was fun to browse through, and sells awesome homemade fudge. We did not have an in-room refrigerator, and didn't expect one but would recommend bringing a small cooler if wanting to keep drinks or food cold for more than a few hours (I did notice a mini fridge in the dining room)....also, most of the toiletries are provided upon request only. The inn has a colorful past which was fun to read about. If wanting a peaceful and interesting getaway I'd highly recommend staying here!
