The cafe offers a great selection of food and drinks as well as housing a small souvenir shop. They also offer free wifi to paying customers, pick up the code at the cash desk. They have a prominent green policy (a rare thing in this area) with plenty of recycling facilities and a very thorough waste purifying unit in their lavatories - details on the back of the door! A great stop off point if you are walking the Cornish Coast, or just for refreshments if you are spending a day on the stunning beach at the Cove.

I don't know who came in first, but I can't argue with the fact that this is pretty tasty ice cream in a pretty gorgeous location. The Ice cream is produced in Zennor, a tiny village with 28 inhabitants which we had passed through while walking the Cornish Coastal Path. The company is family run and the ice cream is made from milk from Daisy, Primrose and Sid Vicious, and many other Friesian cows on Tremedda Farm. They then produce about 30 different flavours of ice cream and sorbet which it then sells through this little shop in St Ives. The shop itself is tiny with just a couple of small tables, however they still manage to serve cream teas and coffees along side the ice creams. Its situated right on the beach front so perfect for take away, particularly when the Cornish sun is shining. I went for the orange and mascarpone flavour which was simply divine. Would I like a free wafer with that? Of course, does anyone ever say no?! I would have to agree with the Times, certainly one of the best ice creams I have been lucky enough to taste. Send some up to Sussex please!

It seems that some places only serve pasties in the summer. We were here in December so almost went to a pub to get takeout but passed Niles on the way back to home on our last day in Cornwall. These were fairly good and inexpensive. We got the steak for £3 which was a bit flat in flavor. The chicken was the best for £2 which also comes with some seasonal veg. The veg was tasty too. These two had slightly different pastries. You can sit down and eat these in the store if you like. We took ours to go. P.s. Pasties were also seen at the Eden Project gift store cafe. (As I recall, the pasties available in the train stations from West Cornish Pasty Company are tastier with more varieties, but double the price.)

I booked here way in advance for our early September trip, we were seated on the open air balcony with Newquay marina as the back drop. It seemed a little chilly to be seated outside at this time of year, but lo and behold they already thought it out with plastic covers at both sides of the balcony and heaters right at every dining tables. Not only did it create a cozy ambiance but made it warm and comfortable as well. We started our dinner with salt and pepper calamari to share with a glass of Rose and I then ordered Brown crab with salad and fries on the side, while my partner ordered grilled pollock. The dishes were undoubtedly fresh and came out in timely fashion. It is beauty about traveling, discovering new places and truly enjoying it.
