The chicken version also has leeks, while the beef seems to contain a root vegetable, either turnip or Swede, maybe? Regardless, they are both delicious. A friend tried the lamb and mint, reporting lovely flavor, but a bit of chewiness to the sparse meat tidbits, The Chough's treacle tart is very tasty, with bright flashes of lemon zest here and there to lighten the molasses top notes and sugary richness before it becomes overwhelming. The Bakewell tart is also very nice though it uses sliced almonds instead of the more traditional almond paste, which isn't to everyone's taste. Finally, we took some of the scones home to eat with piles of jam and clotted cream, and they proved up to the task, though otherwise unremarkable as scones always are.

I especially love their impressive array of flours, nuts and dried fruits and the the fact that they carry "Lizard Leaves" - baby greens grown by local farmers. Without a doubt, these are the freshest and most delectable baby greens I have ever eaten - and yes, you have to come all the way to Cornwall to find them. Also, they carry one of the best pasties in the UK...it may sound unbelievable, but it is true. Their pasties are made with spelt flour, vegetable oil (not lard) and the fillings are fresh and tasty without being overly salty. The result is a crispy, flavorful and delicious product that will win the heart of even the most demanding Brit. We have tasted every pasty in Falmouth and they are in the top three with the Cornish Miner and Presto. As a New Yorker, I have shopped in some of the finest and most lovingly tended health food stores around and The Natural Store is right up there with some of the best.

The Fish was very special; freshly cooked prawns and lovely mussels. The linguini in both dishes was cooked to perfection. Service was quick and polite. The chips were amazing which was brilliant for my partner as all holiday she has seen everyone around her eat lovely food while all she could eat was the most basic things. The restaurant still has an old charm to it, it hasn't been polished into a chic modern restaurant, and I love it more for this.

They run a loyalty card scheme, in which each time you buy a coffee your card is stamped. Once you reach 9 stamps you get a free coffee. Nero have all of the expect range of coffees for a modern coffee shop. The staff are friendly and efficient, the tables seem to be cleared quickly. I would recommend visiting Caffe Nero, and if you have coffee regularly in Truro it is worth picking up a Caffe Nero loyalty card.

I had a medium traditional pasty - perhaps it was the hype, or the overeager anticipation, but I was slightly disappointed. It tasted like a regular pasty! Nothing particularly wrong with it - it was a good size, reasonable price and tasted good. It's worth a visit if you're hungry and need a pasty to fill the void!

The Oggy pasties come in steak, mince and every other variety under the sun including apple and chicken curry but all taste wonderful, they have a bit more pastry than other pasties and taste the better for it. If like me you like your pasties cold then just ask, they usually keep some back. The shop at the end of town has seating in the back for a sitdown pasty and cream tea experience, its a little cramped but nice. Worth checking out for a quick cheap meal on the go or for when your mums out of town and your homebaked supply has run dry!
