Realizing that my 80-foot + tall black cherry tree was dying, and as I was concerned that it might…read morefall onto my house, I contacted Alpine Tree Experts, and asked them to come, look and give me an estimate of the cost to remove the tree. The owner, Bill Morales, arrived at my house the next day and gave me a quote that I knew from past tree removals (I have had to remove about 6 tall trees from my property in the 20 years I have lived here) was a reasonable estimate. Last Thursday, the Alpine Tree crew arrived at 8:30 am, and promptly began their work. I was very impressed that they first laid large mats across my lawn where the crane truck was going to drive over. Once the crane was in position, a crew member (think "lumberjack") was hoisted by the crane to near the top of the tree. He methodically used a chain saw to cut off approximately 12-foot sections of the tree, which the crane laid on the ground just behind the chipper machine. Other crew members fed the medium-size limbs and small branches into a huge chipper, which quickly turned the tree into wood chips. At my request, the larger tree trunks were carefully set aside to be chopped up later for firewood (although Bill assured me that his huge chipper could handle the big trunks as well). By 11:30 am, the Alpine Tree crew was packed up and heading down the road. I could not believe that they had accomplished so much in so little time, even with them being very careful and methodical throughout the process. I highly recommend Alpine Tree Experts. It was also located at the top of a bank that leads down to a creek, so the location was tricky. We obtained four estimates before starting our project. Caliber exceeded the other tree companies in every way. Their proposal was professional, specific, and detailed, and they provided information about their licensing and insurance. Both Tim and Julian were very responsive to questions. We had some limitations about where they could go on the property with the heavy equipment, because of the location of our septic field. They put down mats and did their best to minimize the impact of their work on the yard. They used two crews so there were eight men working at once, but they coordinated their efforts so well, and every person was friendly and helpful. They chipped branches and hauled away all the huge trunk sections. I would recommend them very highly for more complicated jobs.
