My toddler loves the smaller playscape. There are a few slides and plenty of different ladders and stairs to climb. BEWARE- after a good rain the area around this climber is a giant puddle. There's a slide that goes right into the middle of it. We avoid this park after a rainstorm for this reason. The larger playscape seems pretty fun. My toddler still climbs on it when it's not too crowded. It has a lot of ramps and some fun slides. I climb with him or stay close by because there are some openings to climbing structures he cannot navigate that are pretty high up. There are also swings (including baby swings), covered picnic tables, a sand/ digging area, and some outdoor musical instruments inside the fence.

We went with our 2yr old to check out the play area. It is very well done and arranged. It is ADA compatible which in addition to being accepting to everyone makes being a parent easier, ease of access to high areas. My daughter loved the slide that was essentially a string of rolling pins. The only slide of its design I've come across. There are plenty of swings and there is a nice covered area with picnic tables. It is completely enclosed and gated, so it takes a bit for the little ones to get away! Always a plus. In the play area there is a sand box with some shovels, the sand is pretty well used at this point and isn't all that soft but it's useable. There is also a really fun little pipe instrument setup with the gates. If you venture across the street there is some hiking trails in the woods, nothing overly long or daunting but it was nice for a stroll in the woods with the baby and the the dog.

Things I really like about it as a parent are that it's very shaded and the play structure is far from the parking lot. The climbing wall is awesome but the holds are a little too far apart for toddler use. I'm sure most people use the park for the ball fields, which I can't really comment on.

AllTrails marked it as easy, but I'd say it's more of a medium. A boarded section washed out from a recent flood, so it took some maneuvering to get through. Also a few big trees down. My only real complaint is that, like almost all CT campgrounds, they don't allow dogs, so I can't enjoy camping in the park, but from a day use perspective this is a great park.

The showers are clean and the water is just right. Every day the camp site workers come by to keep everything nice and neat. Definitely a place to return to in the future, we paid $77 for 4 days, 6 people, 2 tents & 2 vehicles.... you can't beat that for a great outdoors experience with the family.

I also enjoy the track that circles the complex. I have seen as many as 8 species of birds. This would be a 5 star revue except for the people who toss trash all over. There are plenty of trash bins but the parking lot and basketball courts have too much trash. Another issue that might only upset me is some people let their dogs use the facility without having them on leashes. And in October of 2014, some idiot let their dog use 2 basketball courts as a toilet. Great facility, poorly behaved citizens.

It's also home to the town's massive indoor swimming pool that is used year-round. The artificial turf lacrosse field is absolutely beautiful. There are also baseball, softball, and soccer fields. The paved walking paths are excellent for walking, jogging, and taking your dog for a stroll. The park has two covered areas with picnic benches that are great for having a bite to eat in the shade. I love the large grass area where they are building a beautiful stage for outdoor concerts. There is a separate building with clean outdoor restrooms, and several large parking lots.
