From the start, Kyle was thorough and patient. He walked me through transferring all of my existing funds, helped me establish clear savings goals, and gave me concrete, actionable guidance I could actually act on. What impressed me most was his timing: all of this unfolded during a period of significant personal transition for me, and he handled every step with professionalism and calm. The results have spoken for themselves. My portfolio has reached record highs, and for the first time, I genuinely feel in control of my financial future. If you're looking for an advisor who is competent and steady under pressure, I can't recommend Kyle highly enough!

Which ones do I combine? Am I investing too aggressively or not enough? What the heck is this fund? Nick Licouris did a fantastic job - we met twice, and he mapped out a detailed roadmap for me to get my financial house in order over the next few years, explaining everything in plain English anyone could understand. He confirmed I was headed in the right direction, but also pointed out a few things I was unaware of. He also correctly predicted how many hours it would take, so the cost was no surprise. I am very, VERY pleased with the results and I've recommended him to others and will probably hire him again, once I've executed the plan.

Hard to get ahold of. They definitely did not make me feel valued. I was talked to like I was an idiot with no investment experience. And their tax department. Doesn't really exist. They have some "preparers" but then pay someone at a big firm to review because they don't have the experience. They actually said you'd be better hiring your own firm and not using us. More later. Using EP Wealth Advisors (EPWA) was a complete disaster for us. When my wife fell victim to skilled…read morescammers that led her down a path of ruin, she had EPWA empty her retirement account of nearly $1 million (the scam was later the cover story on the February 8-14, 2025 edition of The Economist). She informed EPWA it would be put into crypto. While they advised against it, they took no action to notify me - something that would have been appropriate since that retirement money was a huge part of our financial plan that I, my wife, and EPWA were all signatories to. Hence, seems given the extreme risk being levied on that financial plan, it would make sense to at least send an email to me about the unusual action. But, no, and my name was never even mentioned. Chad Burton, who had been to our house when we became clients, would eventually hide behind his compliance officer, Mario Chilin and their lawyers, becoming totally silent on the matter after some initial contact to find out what happened (noting it was a subordinate handling our account). Mario would maintain they "met the elevated standards of service and duty as a Fiduciary." My God. Their lawyers would repeatedly maintain that it was not a "red flag" that my wife was putting all of her retirement money into crypto. Really??? I recently pointed out to them about a panel of advisors the Wall Street Journal interviewed concerning crypto - the conclusion - if one must have exposure to crypto, make it no more than 1% of your portfolio. That article was published before our scam. But, my wife putting 100% of her retirement into crypto wasn't a red flag??? I guess not in EPWA's world. Doesn't stop there. During a webinar hosted by some cybersecurity firm they paid to educate people on scams, when they got to something like our scam, I said in the chat box my wife had fallen prey to such a scam and followed with, "What should EPWA being doing to prevent such an obvious scam...EPWA could have just emailed me and nothing would have happened...EPWA should be smarter if they are handling large sums of money." For that, they immediately kicked me out of the webinar when I could have added to the education of the listeners, knowing more about the scam than those hosting it. Not only that - they then sent me a cease-and-desist letter claiming I'm defaming them. Unbelievable. They defame themselves. This is EPWA. It's all in writing. Nothing made up. Meanwhile, we've done a lot to fight the crime. My wife joined a group that ended up educating the FBI, Secret Service, and chief prosecutor on the crime (their work even led to the arrest of some in Cambodia). My wife has helped many other victims, sometimes talking some down from suicide. A book is being written about it by an investigative reporter. There is still much to do to fight the crime that becomes increasingly sophisticated, including the use of AI. All while we still have a cease-and-desist demand from EPWA. In my opinion, these are very bad people not deserving of people's business.

They didn't make any effort to contact a manager, research it online, or check whether such services existed within their company or affiliates. If I have to do all the research myself, I might as well do business with myself! It turns out this service has actually existed since 2012 through Royal Bank Georgia. I suggest updating staff training and product knowledge. Thanks to AI technology, I was able to find the information on my own--and I'm now a very happy customer.

Call Paul Marshall…read more Buying a home is stressful enough, but when you're using a specialized program like City National Bank's Ladder Up, you need a loan officer who knows how to navigate the process, advocate for you, and keep things moving. That's exactly what I found in Paul Marshall. The Ladder Up Program is designed to increase Black and Brown homeownership, especially in communities where those groups are the majority. It's a powerful resource, and I'm grateful it exists. But like any program with grants and specialized requirements, it takes patience, persistence, and someone who understands the process inside and out--that's where Paul came in. From the moment I started, Paul handled my loan with urgency, care, and a level of professionalism that made all the difference. He wasn't just doing paperwork--he was actively advocating for me, making sure my loan didn't get stuck in the process. And let me tell you, this wasn't an easy timeline. I started without a preapproval, and Thanksgiving and Christmas both landed right in the middle of my escrow period. That alone could have pushed things into the new year, but Paul stayed on top of every detail, ensuring we closed in just 40 days while securing the maximum Ladder Up grant award. What really stood out was Paul's ability to reassure and problem-solve when things felt overwhelming. He understood the unique dynamics of my transaction--where both the buyer and seller came from the same historically underserved community--and handled everything with the cultural awareness and dedication this kind of work requires. If you're considering homeownership and want a loan officer who will fight for you, guide you, and get you to the finish line, Paul Marshall at City National Bank is the one you want on your team. I can't recommend him enough!

The property had been owned and managed by our family for over 50 years, so this was not a simple decision. It required coordination with our attorney, family members and careful handling of the long term asset. What stood out was that Matt did not approach this as someone trying to create a transaction just to make a sale. In fact, he initially recommended that we not sell after reviewing our ownership goals. His focus was on what was truly best for our family...not simply completing a sale. When we ultimately decided to move forward, Matt executed an off-market strategy, personally investing the time to make calls and tap into deep local south bay connections to identify the right buyer. His knowledge of multi family properties and the local market was evident throughout the process. Being in the real estate business myself, I understand how difficult it is to find good representation. We felt well represented , fully supported and confident in the guidance we received from start to finish. I highly recommend Matt to anyone seeking experienced, strategic representation inthe sale of a multifamily apartment buiding, especially when navigting long held family assets.
