Naya was a great place to host a large group on a Friday night. The food was excellent and the portions were generous -- not a single member of our party left hungry. The atmosphere strikes a great balance, and is fitting for both a casual dinner and a night out. What really stood out was the service. The staff was attentive and genuinely kind. They pulled off something that's much harder than it sounds, seating a party of 11 together on a Friday night without missing a beat. That kind of flexibility and hospitality is rare and appreciated. Nice spot on Green st place was not busy but we were there early for dinner server was nice and personable gave us menus and was busy between us and a lot of carry out orders so we always get butter chicken it's a favorite and it's really good at Naya, I always compare to my favorite place in Chicago Maharaja and it's just as good. Shrimp curry was mild and flavorful but everything was so much better when the freshly made Chili cheese Naan arrived so good, i tried the strawberry lassi it was very fresh and had good flavor Place was clean and very open it has a huge bar that covers the one wall with a lot of drinks from India available and a decent selection of spirits Keep up the amazing food and we'll be back soon read more

Had one lunch there. Pretty disappointing. I ordered roti and fish curry. Total was about $20 which was really not worthwhile. The fish curry contained only 4-5 spoon-size pieces of fish, with little onion, tomato or other veggie. Luckily the taste was Okay and this curry dish was served with a large bowl of rice. For the roti, it was very small and thin, and worst of all it was way too oily so I only ate a little of it. There was also a free appetizer, something like crispy Naan with green sauce. The sauce was put in some plastic container which really contradicts the well-decorated environment of this restaurant. Service was also minimal, except that the stuff kept asking me whether I want some dessert. I had repeated several time I did not want it... So the only good things seemed to be: the curry dish tasted not bad and the restaurant had a clean, modern inside. Not very likely to go there again. I can get much more food with better qualities and better service in other Indian restaurants in C-U area (e.g. those in downtown Champaign) read more

The interior of the restaurant is very nice with the beautiful bar. The biryani itself was a huge portion. I typically never struggle to finish my meals but this was able to become my lunch and dinner. The rice itself is extremely fragrant and the chicken itself is tender. The price itself is also very comparable to the other Indian restaurants in town. The service was okay, wished some plates were cleared and had more refills. This place is utterly gorgeous! But the look of it does not begin to compare to the delicious food we ate. We both ordered vegetarian paneer dishes and we shared the garlic Naan. Everything was perfect! I believe we met the owner as well, and she was extremely kind and welcoming. read more

Finally I am updating my rating from 1 star to 3 Star -------- If you're South Indian then Never order any biryanis or chili chicken. Still if your dare to try then go with spicy 3 or 4. More than that you feel chilli powder taste. My chilli chicken spoiled it seems prepared few days before n warmed and served.(good part is I paid full amount and manager/owner refunded the chicken dish amount ) One of my friend said it always safe to order any curry related items only. I got the Butter Chicken and the Chicken Biriyani. The chicken was tender in both. The biriyani however was not my favorite. It had a sour aftertaste I was not fond of. The place has great ambiance and a nice vibe. You want to dine in here. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is definitely 15-20% costlier for the area. Our aloo gobi was a mess, raw aloo and fully cooked gobi swimming in oil! They recooked it, but very bland. Malai kofta was delicious. Garlic naans were good. Yellow daal didn't work for us. We have ordered takeout a few times and the quality of the food is inconsistent. I ordered butter chicken and it was supposed to be medium spicy but it came a bland as could be. I've had it before when it was delicious so maybe it was just a bad day for the kitchen. It also had a hair in it and that's inexcusable. We ordered 3 naan and we got three 3 inch by 3 inch pieces of bread for $4.49 each - that can't be right! Usually a piece of naan is rather good sized. They also didn't give us the green chutney to go with it. My husband had the chicken vindaloo and he enjoyed it more than the other popular place in town. We will likely try this restaurant one more time since we know the food can be good but given the other reviews, I'm not optimistic. Will update once we have tried again. read more

Naya is my new go-to place for Indian food in CU. I had lunch there today with 3 friends, and we all loved the food. They have quite an extensive menu including many vegetarian options. We had our choice for degree of spiciness. We shared an order of naan, and it was perfect--the best I'd ever had. Each of us had a lassi (mango and strawberry) or chai tea, and there were several other choices. The service was excellent. Our server answered all our questions, brought the food out promptly, and served us extra rice at our request. The restaurant has a modern, upscale feel. We especially enjoyed the fact that it was quiet enough so that we had no problem hearing each other speak, something that is increasingly rare at restaurants. Prices are moderate and very reasonable for the quality of the food. I heartily recommend naya. read more

Food was great, but it is very clear they don't enjoy serving Black people. The waiter rushed us to order. Rice came with all three of our meals, they gave us one and told us it was for the entire table. (Which is usually the serving size I've received when dining in alone). They burned the Naan my friend asked for. We asked if we could split our bill and he said no, and proceeded to split the bill of the party seated directly next to us. When asked about it he became very frustrated, but we chose not to argue and left. I wish they were nicer because the food was good. Smh. read more

To start the service was decent, nothing extraordinary, but the job was done just fine. The environment is probably one of the best on green, has a very nice bar area. The food was decent as well, the starter that came at the beginning was okay, the sauce was a decent mild spice and good flavor but the cracker was very salty and mildly burnt. Since it was free I don't really count it for much unless is spectacular. I ordered the chicken tikka masala, and a garlic Naan with a Diet Coke. The tikka masala was nice and creamy, flavors were decently developed, however personally I enjoy a more smoky flavor coming from the chicken, but that's personal. The rice while bland I felt was perfect for pairing with the chicken. The one big negative I have is the Naan, it had parts of it that were burnt, but the flavor was too far burnt and made the naan crispy rather than soft, the naan also felt very old and the garlic butter flavors never really came through, I tried it on its own and I wouldn't have been able to know if it was normal or garlic. With such below average food choices on green this place is a nice change of place, and I would say is one of the best spots near campus. read more
