If you're in the first 50-100 people, they will check all your documents and give you a number. They mentioned people were waiting in line starting at 5am. I don't think you really need to get there that early though. They'll try to fit you in the morning between appointments but if you don't have all your paperwork situated they will have you come back in the afternoon. Which I think is great that they make sure you have all your documents in the beginning rather than wait until your name/number is called. The appointment was also super quick! It took about 15 minutes to get what I needed to get done. Everyone hates going to the dmv but it's good to keep in mind that kindness and patience go a long way. This was such a stress free experience, I can't thank everyone who works here enough!!

We got there at about 1230 and checked in, our estimated wait time was 33 minutes. At about half an hour, we started checking the times and it kept going up. At about 330. We finally got the text that it was our turn and to come in. We went inside to be told people were being called to be told to go home. When we asked why we were told they were too many people in the waiting room and no way could they get through all of us before closing. We asked why didn't anyone let people know this before hand so we could've gone to another DMV that at that point though a further drive only had an estimated 15 minute wait time. By this point it was too late for any of us to go to the other DMV office. I understand they were shortstaffed, I understand there's a lot of work that needs to be done. I only saw two employees in that office along with the security personnel. What upset us was the total lack of communication the updated wait times to let us know that they were cutting off seeing people. Instead, wouldn't there be a way to send out a text to all of us that we're waiting in our vehicles stating that due to times no more people who had been checked in would be able to get their licenses. When we did the math, they were doing approximately nine people an hour. Though this is a fantasy, I hope the DMV thinks about how they communicate to the people who have checked in and are waiting for appointments to let us know if they are going to be able to complete seeing people or not. At 3:30 there were only about 15 people ahead of us.

They make everyone come back in the afternoon, even though nobody is being seen in the morning, so they can go past 5pm!! It's a SCAM and somebody should be investigated this!!

We had an incredibly frustrating experience at this DMV location. The place is poorly run by just…read more2, sometimes only 1, low-intellect individual. The level of inefficiency is staggering. There was not one staffing individual available that was eager or even WILLING to really help people. Everyone had the "this was my last-resort job" mentality. They don't allow you to print anything there or show them anything virtually, making it extremely difficult if you forget a document. (Not atypical for government-run organizations... but still something to note) To top it all off, they don't let anyone sit inside until 12 PM (very hesitantly while also stating they won't be able to see everyone and blatantly ENCOURAGING people to leave, rather than help) which is ridiculous and inconsiderate, especially for those who arrive early to avoid long wait times. Akin to the movies zootopia, they move like sloths here and really make you question where your tax dollars are going!!!!!! Also note: They don't allow walk-ins until 12 PM, which is utterly inconvenient for nearly everyone.

I arrived at 0940 Monday morning to be greeted by a uncomfortably warm, slightly full waiting room. I scanned the QR code on the back of the sign to receive a ticket number to be placed in line. A lot of time passes and I begin to grow restless as people come and go, and I'm still waiting, eventually the only employee comes out then individually asks everyone what their ticket number was, and what they needed help with. A little bit before 11:12 the TV calls my number "O 304". Excited at this point I jump up and swiftly walk to the desk, quickly followed by another man who didn't speak English very well who arrived ~30 minutes after me. As we were both standing there the employee asked our ticket numbers and I showed mine "O 304", and the man says "C 304". At this point I'm confused why this guy is here if the number called was "O" not "C", the employee then says that since the man was in the lobby before me he had precedence. Confused, tired, and hungry at this point I recalled the sign that said the employee will not be bullied and argued with, so I just said "gotcha" and walked off to wait some more. I then received a text at 1112 which said "NCDMV: Please proceed to Station 01 in Lillington. Thank you for waiting from a safe distance -Msg&Data rates may apply. -Reply STOP to opt-out", which was weird because the employee was still assisting the man, about 10minutes after the employee walks out and says to the small room full of people you're all gonna have to come back at 1pm.
