Another beautiful New England lighthouse just off the main road. We were in search of a scenic place to park to eat our takeout and absolutely scored with this place! A nice sized parking lot with grassy areas and rocks for people to sit and hang out to enjoy the beautiful scenery. With this being such a nice area to visit we will no doubt be back again very soon!

What a great spot! The grounds are lovely, the lighthouse is adorable and the ocean view is spectacular! Great place for a picnic or to just sit and breath in the beautiful fresh air while taking in all the beauty that surrounds us!!!! Plenty of parking too!!

Make a stop here - it's quick & worth it! An awesome spot to go watch the boats come in and out of the harbor. The lighthouse is awesome and actually comes on and flashes at night time. There is a small beach with access to a sandbar on one side, a couple covered shelters on the other. There is restrooms in the middle area but I don't think they are 24/7. I have been coming to Mattapoisett since a child and Ned's Point is a staple in this town!

Gorgeous views of the waterfront on very well kept grounds. Perfect place to enjoy lunch or even just to relax and take in all of the wonderful scenery this spot has to offer!

One of the few lighthouses on this South Coast area that you can access without going for a swim! Beautiful view out towards Cuttyhunk. This seems to be the place to go to have your prom/homecoming/formal dance photos taken. Carload after carload of High School students and their parents kept arriving to take photos.

At the entrance to Mattapoisett (stop correcting me, IThing--that's the way it's spelled) Harbor is Ned's Pt. Lighthouse which was built in 1838 and still works! What craftsmanship! Surrounded by a small park, there is parking, beaches and a magnificent and unobstructed view of the Elizabeth Islands as well as surrounding Buzzard's Bay. It's located at the end of a small street, Ned's Pt. Rd. that winds through a neighborhood. There are restrooms, picnic tables and a grass area. From the looks of things, it's not that busy as it's in an out-of-the-way location. Yet another New England gem!
You could not have asked for a better day than today, stopping in to see Ned's Point (named after Ned Dexter, a local farmer who once owne the land) on a mostly sunny and warm afternoon. The parking lot was mostly empty and so it was easy to stop the Sprinter van and pop out to walk Ned's Point and view the lighthouse from all angles without anything in the way. The Ned's Point Lighthouse was commissioned in 1837 and first lit in 1838. The tower stands 39 feet tall and features a unique architectural detail: a cantilevered granite staircase with 32 steps embedded directly into the inner wall, built without mortar. Unfortunately, it's not open to the public. Ned's Point Light was deactivated between 1952 and 1961, then modernized and reactivated with a 6-second isophase white light. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, preserving its legacy as a symbol of Mattapoisett's maritime heritage. It was well worth the drive to see and experience this fabulous structure. Five stars. [Review 1095 of 2025 - 1245 in Massachusetts - 24649 overall] read more

I absolutely love lighthouses all around the world, we search for them on all our travels. This one is located in Rhode Island in a nice park area. Great place to take break, have lunch and jus relax. The weather was perfect the day we went, very thankful for the weather Gods. There is a small beach area if you wanna walk out abit along the ocean. Parking is free, trouble free. Im not sure if you can actually go in or not, check the website. I would definitely stop here if your in the area, no regrets! read more

Beautiful place to just sit and relax. Take in the scenery and smell that ocean air. My family love it. Great place to have a picnic or maybe fly a kite / toss the frisbee. The wind is perfect there for kite flying. I don't give many 5 stars but I can't complain about anything read more

A wonderful lighthouse with superb lighting. This is in a quiet park area in Mattapoisett and is just enchanting to stop and visit with. You can even see the area where the house once was for those who worked and guarded the house. read more
