Walked in and was greeted by Ashley herself, and her sweetie pie dog George Michael who welcomed me personally. The store is a great size with a lot of product. Clothing and the accessories are color coordinated. The store feels very in tune with Marfa itself, in a way that you can explore hidden corners like an art gallery. After exploring Ashley had a nice conversation with us, and told us she makes everything in house! Amazing! It's really close to the ballroom art gallery another plus! The wonderful thing about shopping around in Marfa is there isn't a pressure to buy anything like you feel when shopping in big cities. Everyone is happy to give you some background history of their brand, because they genuinely love what they do.

She liked a couple of items when we visited ultimately sending me back over from Alpine the next day to buy what she wanted. A natural cut amethyst (HUGE) set in a black and white ceramic base. She wore it to dinner that very evening at the Century Bar and Grill grinning from ear to ear. Staff was friendly on both visits; will return next visit to find another bauble to keep the wife happy.

As we drove out to Prada Marfa I saw that this shop had their door literally open. We stopped by when we got back to town but the door was now closed. I texted the phone number posted on the door and at the same moment artist Richard Kurtz arrived. His wife, fellow artist Jennifer Esperanza owns the shop and Richard's work is on display inside. Mostly women's vintage and some jewelry, cowboy boots, purses, leather belts, and home goods are for sale. I bought a gorgeous beaded cardigan and one of a kind Marfa denim jacket. Jennifer wasn't available but Richard is a very kind man and my husband and I enjoyed chatting with him.

The outside had a bit of a western feel to it. On the inside, it was much larger than we anticipated with kid's toys, candy, and books to the right scattered with a variety of other merchandise like knicks knacks, magnets, stickers, cards, postcards, hats, collector's items, and more. When we entered to the other side past the register, however, much more sophisticated gifts in the form of women's fine jewelry, handmade soaps, purses, and women's clothing was nicely displayed. The lady at the register was nice enough, but she seemed to not care so much for kids. I purchased this t-shirt I have yet to wear because it has been so cold lately. It has Willie Nelson, Buddy Holly, Stevie Ray Vaughan & Billy Gibbons and reads "Texas Rockmore" below a Mount Rushmore-inspired photo of the four of them. We were never felt like we were loitering, needed to hurry up and buy something, or too loud. Really laidback. So we loitered, visited, and shopped. Came away with a few cool things that of course we didn't need, but we wanted and would bring joy. Easy to make your way through the store, there's lots of items that promote the history, archeology, geology, astrology etc of the local (50 mile circumfrance+/-) area that would provide good background reading, watching, use.
