The store is nice and spacious with a good flow to it, and is packed with goods without being over packed. It's definitely full, but not so much so that you have to sort through piles of things to find what you're looking for. Whoever does the merchandising for Kept knows what they're doing, I'll say that for sure! If you're looking for local gifts, they've got some local products in here too. I noted some local card makers up on the second floor - if it can be counted as a second floor? - and Rousseau's has chocolates there, for instance. And in the not local category, they have Rifle Paper Co. here. I'm completely in love with the Rifle Paper Co. art style, so that made me incredibly happy!

The jewelry and accessories tend to be a bit more edgy and young than most shops sporting the locally made flavour. And while its all quite hip, pieces exceed the concept of 'trend' to provide artful and innovative designs. A juxtaposition of buttons on both rings and pins. Tarnished vinyl skillfully sculpted as bracelets. Purses made from old leather coats. Rings constructed from the glass of busted in bus shelters. Shelffuls of purses-- no two are alike. Leather earrings that are just plain cool. The list goes on. There are some more reserved jewelry pieces as well, as Lady Luck covers it all. With all of this fabulous going on, I hardly had time to notice the large art gallery at the back of the room. Vibrant landscapes were this month's feature. Gorgeous! The store is quaint looking from the outside, and as with much of the rest of the Hydrostone, reminds one of a small British village centre (ie. very boutique-like). I noticed on some photographs here on Yelp that the rear part of the store must have been an art gallery in the past, however this is no longer the case.. Now its an expansion of the sales floor. The first thing one notices when entering the store is the multitude of hats around.. If it weren't for other art pieces on display, one could easily think think the whole store is just for hats. We got a really cool hat made of rain-jacket material. It certainly came in handy since there was a raging snow/rain storm going on outside and those specific hats are waterproof.. I also really liked their knitted winter wear hats/tuques. Some of them are quite unique (see photo I added to the business profile). Theres also a lot of locally crafted art and handmade jewelry. This is always a bonus since supporting the local arts is an investment in the community and makes a nice change from buying the same old Chinese imports that you can find anywhere.

Or as my husband would say "it a place for hippies." They had lots of cool sterling silver jewelry from Thailand. The prices were quite reasonable too. They had lots of earrings and bracelets in the $10-$25 range. I really didn't look at much else in the store, but they had beads, wooden knick knacks, pillows, and clothing that looked like they were from Nepal, Indonesia and Thailand, among other things. I loved these kinds of stores in my middle school and high school years, but it's not quite my aesthetics anymore, with the exception of the jewelery, because I still love sterling silver, it's the most suitable metal for my colouring. Not only does this location have new beautiful purses lining the walls and hanging from every direction she also carried some cloths. Her jewelry selection is very different ranging from hair clips to broaches and purse jewelry. I must say as well when I was there in the back was here clearance section in which I did not leave empty handed. I found a beautiful snake sin high sandals for summer for $20 busks. So I walked out with shoes, hair clips and a purse all for $45 gotta love it!

The smell of the soaps and candles places you in a relaxed mood to browse the shabby sheik store. I love this style of furniture old style with a modern twist to it. Bird houses seem to be a big thing in this store but these bird house are more of a decor thing. Various colours that you would use and an accent piece apposed to hanging in a tree. Bath salts and lotions fill the shelves with straw baskets in a way that you need to touch. I would love to design my house with everything in this place. Now prices are a bit higher then an average wear house stocked with but the character of each piece is filled with conversation and years of falling in love with your piece over and over. Beautiful hardwood floors with great wear can tell you that this store has had many visitors walking through and this is a place that I will visit again.

There is so much natural light, which makes the whole browsing the beautiful art even more lovely. I want to buy everything in the store. They have gorgeous prints, cards, scarfs, key chains, tea towels, cat toys...yeah, just about everything. A huge amount of their stuff is locally made (anything with a little blue dot on it) which I really appreciate. I love supporting local businesses that support other local businesses. Inkwell is the reason I started buying cards again. I would much rather spend $5 on a locally made card than on something mass produced. And it's always a little piece of art too, so it's a two-in-one gift!

They always have interesting promotional tables set up in front of the store with special deals and "Heather's Picks" (I don't know who "Heather" is, but apparently Chapters/Indigo thinks she is the queen of books so who am I to argue..). It's a well organized store despite its size, and fairly simple to navigate. I particularly like their little impulse-buy gimmicky gift selection, and rarely walk out of there able to resist buying at least some small gadget that I'll never use. I like the color scheme and feel of the store.. it's light and airy and usually not very busy.. I definitely recommend giving this location a try

What do I love about this little boutique book/gift store in Sunnyside Mall? Uh. Just about…read moreeverything. From the mall entrance, it seems like a small location but there's a fairly large selection. It's almost TARDIS-like, this store. Inside, you'll find the usual Chapters/Indigo selection of books but in a smaller (and oddly better organized) structure. There's usually a fair selection of good deals. I'm also often fascinated with their range of selection of gifts. Lots of fun little trinkets that I haven't found at any other division of Chapters. There are few staff but they are always friendly and outgoing.
