If you are looking for good quality clothing without costing you an arm and a leg then this store ticks that box too. If you are finally looking for a store that has good quality clothing, competitive prices and great customer service then you'll sadly be left disappointed. It is all understandable that with a clearance store and a lifetime sale offering quality jeans for under £10 and other items of clothing at competitive rates you'll get a great deal of custom, but personally that's not an excuse for poor customer service. When you ask a wandering employee a question about the sizes of shoes in stock and you get a sluggish reply (although a helpful man) or, you get to the counter and have to wait a couple of minutes because employees think customers are invisible (literally) and then being spotted and compliment them on their affordable pricing only to recieve a disinterested look with no reply to have to ask another question to recieve another disinterested look and a basic blunt reply just doesn't cut it for me. **They say that you can't have it all and this store proves my point. Cheap, affordable and stylish clothing is always going to be a winning situation whereas disinterested, bored and lack of customer focussed employees are not. I'll keep on coming back as £5 long lasting jeans ticks my boxes and I'm not too fussed about the custom. The Next store is surprisingly well stocked, even if it does make the store feel rather cramped. The ground floor has womenswear, childrens clothes and household items on offer. The upstairs is the men's clothing section. Next is one of those brands that have reached almost an iconic status in UK retail sector. Almost everyone has got at least one item from Next in their wardrobe. The quality is decent and the prices OK, even though the design is lacking in style and flair. Most clothes and shoes look very bland. The home items can be very tacky at times. They seem to favour the brown colour. You'll find every shade of brown conceivable in this store. One thing worth coming in for are the kids clothes. If you have children, you'll find clothes that tick all the right boxes in the design, quality and price department.

A quick search on the Internet proved to be helpful in that it pointed me to Moss Bros, a store that I had already frequently walked by - always wondering what "use" this store was: well...here's where you can hire or rent a suit!!! I walked in to the Muswell Hill store shortly after and told them about my needs. I was quickly ushered upstairs and the nice gentleman took my measurements to fit me out with the right suit. About 20 minutes later I was out on the street again and I would now have to wait a couple of days until I would be able to pick up my suit. (The way it works is that you have to order the suit probably 2-3 days prior to picking it up, as they only get a delivery on certain dates.) I had ordered the whole shebang: trousers, jacket, shirt, bow-tie, cummerbund and shoes. The total came up to £78 pounds, which is quite a lot, but much less expensive than having to buy my own suit (which would probably rot a away in my closet anyway...). So far, the whole suit-hiring experience was very pleasant... I picked up the suit on the morning of the eventful day and I hung it aside until the evening. That, in retrospective, I shouldn't have done: I should've tried it on!!! Because, as it turns out, the trousers were way too small. Of course, the store was closed by the timed I realised this and there was no time to go back anyway. Luckily, I had a black trousers in my closet somewhere and so the evening wasn't a whole sartorial disaster after all! The next day I returned the suit and it turns out, that while they had given me the right sized-pants, the pants itself had been altered at some point, so that the waist had shrunk to a 31. The clerk in the store was apologetic and refunded me the cost of the pants (£20) right away. Overall, I think this was an ok suit-hiring experience. I don't blame the folks at the store for my incorrect order, as this must've been messed-up by the central depot. However, I just hope that I won't get invited to a black-tie event any time soon...

Intended to purchase a number of suits and shirts but her incessant surveillance removed any desire I had to spend money in that store. I'm not sure if she thinks all black people are thieves or wether my demeanour somehow suggested I might be prone to some light thievery, in either case it resulted in the same outcome - a stupid, witless shop attendant acting as my shadow. The fact she was Asian doesn't assuage my suspicions, I noticed her utter lack of interest concerning another (whiter) gentleman who was in there. Ill just stick to Selfridges moving forward, Might be a bit longer to get into central London, but it beats shopping in the 1950s.
