Quantity was reasonable for the prairies but pales to what you get in Vancouver. Lol. I paid about $18 for a half salmon half tuna sashimi. Consider it a more expensive treat and not to fill up on. Get the spicy scallop maki or a dragon roll to complete a great dinner. The tempura was good and crispy with nice sauce. Traditional green tea to round out my lunch. Decor is clean but empty. Needs more Japanese art to distinguish what the place is. The chef is in the back of the place. Maybe in the window would attract more interest from public. The service here was fast and very personable. Amanda did a great job at our table last week and today the owners wife (sorry don't know name yet but will soon) was so cheerful and attentive. I signal a table for four to the lady at the back. Almost immediately she gives me a weird look and uses aggressive hand gestures to shoo me away. She tells us they are closed. A little aggravated by my hunger and her poor manners, I ask the lady if they are doing take-out still. I inform her politely of how hungry we were and how much we would appreciate it if we could just get some fast take-out, as we see other families are still finishing their meals. She doesn't even acknowledge me! In fact, she is angry at this point that I haven't left. Her gestures becoming even more aggressive as she quickly shoos me away from the restaurant. The interior is modern, simple and clean. The teriyaki (chicken/beef) is standard fast food quality, and yet flavorful and commendable. The well-cooked udon bowl is surprisingly delicious and not too salty. We were glad to find this spot for delicious yet affordable Japanese food in grizzly and beaver country, deep in the Canadian Rockies (about 1 hr away from Jasper). Yes, there's a beaver boardwalk less than 10 minutes away, where you can actually watch these critters and their dams nearby -- if you're really quiet and come at the right time (early AM, late afternoon or at night, while watching the northern lights).
