Bruce is an awesome host and provided a very personal touch, checking in with us on a daily basis and making sure we were well taken care of. He also helped us figure out a last-minute boat rental crisis by finding us a replacement pontoon boat when we had to turn ours in a day earlier than expected. We enjoyed this vacation so much we already made reservations for next year.

The beds were comfortable and the view was terrific. Bruce and his staff were so gracious. He even treated us to his deluxe Bloody Marys on the shore on Saturday morning. We had a minor problem with an electrical breaker being tripped and Bruce was there in 5 minutes to take care of the problem. Bruce was even kind enough to take some of us for a boat tour of Crane Lake which was fantastic. They welcomed our dogs too. Great experience. I highly recommend booking with Cabins on Crane!

While it wasn't a 5-star hotel, it was still a nice, clean place prior to "gl-amping." (Glamorous camping on a houseboat). Our dinner in the restaurant was just meh - we just had hamburgers (no greens or veggies available on the menu so you're out of luck if you're a vegan). Service was slow, but it was only one person and they were really friendly. We splurged on a bigger boat and they upgraded us free to a relatively new boat. Overall, great experience and very happy. It was definitely a nice splurge and worth adding Voyager National Park to your bucket list of things to do!

It seems to be more of a fishing destination for…read moreguys who dont need any modern conveniences and don't mind sleeping in unlevel cabins with poor plumbing and no air conditioning (another family reported mice in their cabin). Now it was cool at night but during the day, very hot at the end of July. The penthouse accommodations were nice with AC and TV but we were in one of the cabins. I do get that if you're on this type of vacation you'll spend a lot of time outside; however, if you are a mother, cooking and tending to kids, you'd at least appreciate an AC at times. One last thing, realize that you are on a peninsula with no trails extending into land, so it feels like you're on a small island. I started to feel very closed end, I like to run and hike and this was not available unless I took a boat to another area. I hate being negative but I do want people to realize exactly what to expect. On a positive note, the owners, Jeff and Kathy were amazing! They were so accommodating and just plain nice. Also, if you do visit and are given an opportunity to fly on a plane to see the sights, do it! It was the best part of the trip!

Great northwoods bar/lounge in the lodge where you can get to know both the locals and the guests. Great fishing with optional guide services. Nostalgic quaint cabins are clean and tidy. This place beckons you to return. Loons calling. Star gazing. Nice nearby hiking trails. Great gift shop to purchase Nelson's swag and various sundries. There's a game room for the family, along with several outdoor activities for little and big kids alike. Also dog friendly. Hands down our favorite northwoods vacation spot.
