Hole-in-the-wall Japanese restaurants are thrilling to find. Though usually it's the ones like Nemoto that startle me, mostly because I have driven and walked past it so many times without even taking a second look or getting curious. I guess it's just that Buendia is so busy also that I am more than likely just trying to focus and get myself past the traffic, versus checking out restaurants at the sides of the thoroughfare. It took my sister's enthusiastic recount of her dinner to enlighten and entice me to go.
Since then, I would frequent Nemoto mostly when I head to a supplier in the same general area. There's not much space along the frontage, so it would be wise to go early for lunch or dinner if you're driving. Well, they don't close in the afternoons, so you can also go for late lunch or merienda. More often than not, I find the Japanese lady owner in the corner, either reading a Japanese newspaper or just looking over her staff.
Anyway, I would highly recommend getting either the katsu bowls or the bento boxes. My sister is a fan of the former, while I find more value for money with the bento boxes. At PhP200, you get a full bento set already! Each item in the bento box is also pretty good and very much worth it considering the price.
