OMG OMG OMG. I love these kind of shops - one of a kind, unusual products that appeal to the heart and soul. I'm a sucker for unusual glassware, pottery, jewelry, books, candles etc. Sad that most of the clothes don't come in plus sizes. We gals like those clothes too. One of my favorite places to shop for organic and eco-friendly items. I love the reiki charged crystal candles which are duo purpose for lighting up a space making it cozy and a nice massage oil for my feet and hands. I have gotten yoga pants here discounted for 38 bucks and they are so worth it. The people that work here are helpful and friendly. Love Jenny. I came to the Nest for the first time today, and all I can say is this little shop is such a positive space and full of great energy. I came in just to look, but ended up leaving with a couple of crystals. I've always been interested in healing crystals, but I never knew where to start. The employee, whose name is Ali, was EXTREMELY helpful and kind. You can tell she is a genuinely caring person and she spent 30 minutes helping me find the right crystal. And I know that's hard to do because each person responds differently. But she was very patient and thoroughly explained everything and I definitely have a better understanding because of her so thank you so much, Ali! Wow I've been shopping here for 5 years now. I especially love the super cute and well curated selection of organic cotton clothing. I'm currently wearing a stretchy black pencil skirt I bought over the winter holiday. It's become a weekly favorite in my outfit rotation. I also love the eco-friendly and artful cards, jewelry, gifts and especially love to see so many vegan cookbooks on display at Nest. My husband has a really cool London tube map wallet made from paper that he gets tons of compliments on. read more

I'm a big fan of this eco-boutique because much of its merchandize fits my tastes very closely. The place is an aesthetic delight, full of color and texture. Great clothes for women (including versatile hemp-fabric skirts from Texture); beautiful housewares (including jewel-toned cast glass tumblers); a small but captivating book selection; fair-trade napkins and placemats from India and elsewhere; and high-quality earth-friendly lunch items such as insulated bags, reusable snack pouches and bamboo flatware. Four stars only because it IS a bit pricey and I don't recall seeing much clothing for men. Plus the location is really out of the way for the DC/Balto area. Clarksville is a funny little crossroads with chain stores and this island of independent, upmarket shops including Nest and its sister stores, Roots Market and Great Sage restaurant. They carry everything from organic cotton clothing for kids and adults to books on Yoga and veganness. They have hand made cups and places, bamboo cutting boards, bamboo utensils and serving ware. Good for the planet water bottles, music, jewelery, wind chimes, all kinds of stuff. Gorgeous, beautiful, eco-friendly, handmade wonderful goods. From clothing and shoes to lovely gems, housewares, books, and more. This will definitely be my go-to spot for wedding and housewarming gifts from now on. Favorite things that I saw included the crackle-glass looking plates, recycled sari hair clips, tree slice cheese boards, and boho patchwork handbags. Very cool store! The things they have are so unique. I'm not a "shopper" but I could spend a couple of hours in this store. If you are looking for unique gifts, go to Nest. Everything I've gotten from here gets me a ".....WOW, that's so cool! Where did you get that?!" The staff is also super friendly and super helpful. Jenny, in particular, is such a joy! All of this and everything they sell is Fair Trade, so you are helping the environment and people around the world. read more

This store is a great place to purchase a wide variety of gifts, household items and clothes for the socially conscious shopper and/or gift recipient. Nest has a great array of products ranging from informative and entertaining books to various crafts and jewelery created by artisans that are paid a fair price. There really are so many different types of products that you just have to go to the store and peruse for yourself. Last time I purchased a really neat pink salt candle holder that purifies the air when you burn a candle in it. It was very fairly priced and I use it a couple times a week. Very cute boutique with a funky hippie vibe. One fitting room with a cloth curtain I was taking turns with the other girl trying things on. Adorable clothes in eco fabrics. Lots of tees with "green" messages. Rustic dinner ware, items like journals from handmade paper and candles. Rely wanted to buy a dress or tee but everything was either too sheer or an awkward cut. Determined, bought a great non leather belt. Very sweet person at the register. Could have spent more time looking at the jewelry. Lots packed into a narrow space. I like this place, three stars is not bad. But I just feel like it is lacking. I think they could have done a lot more with this store. Their organic clothing is hippieish and not anything that I would be excited about wearing. Mostly their whole selection is not what it should be....given the store space is limited....it feels a little hippieish to me. I don't think that is a bad thing.....it just seems like a lot of items are not that useful or exciting. Plus I felt that everything was really overpriced. I'm a discount organic shopper and when it comes to items for the home or gifts....they don't have to be expensive to be healthy. This is a fair trade store so I can understand that they are not Walmart. I have no problem spending money as long as I can find neat stuff....I will definitely go back at some point and see if I was wrong. But on first visit I wasn't overly impressed. I do support their goals and did find some things to purchase. I ended up getting some wooden dishware that were very nice for christmas presents. But I did spend quite a bit on it....50 dollars for a thin olive tray, a small three compartment hourderv dish and a small butter dish. read more
