I seem to always feel like an "Outsider", when substitute teaching here. There's a rather noticeable thin film of Pretentiousness when on their (what they call) Campus. The faculty seems polite, but unfortunately it's extremely hard to get to know them, since it is so spread out, and multiple buildings. It's a pretty building layout and design, but not too practical. Why? you ask. There are 6 buildings, all with different subject matters, dispersed, thus you have to travel a lot from building to building. Honestly, it thoroughly causes confusion - the buildings all look alike, brick, white pillars, a grassy quad separating the buildings. With all the money floating around New Albany, the district is able to offer unique elective classes that you won't find in many central Ohio school districts - a giant plus! Subbing jobs don't come up too often for the high school, so I take jobs here only if no other options are available. read more

This is an amazing school district that provides great education for all kids and has great staff and teachers!

The school is a gateway to depression. The classes are extremely difficult, the social setting is filled with toxicity, and the staff only cares about the school's well-being, not your child's. Throughout my four years at this school, I've felt an intense anxiety about grades and being the best academic student. Most likely because NAHS is only concerned with becoming the best public school, or at least looking like it. For a schools ranking, graduation rates, "gifted" percentages, and college acceptances all play a part in it's standings, but each category is based on how well the students perform. Because of this, the majority of schools try to motivate students by enforcing quality grades, creating a love of learning, or doing whatever is right for the student. Unfortunately, NAHS only considers the first option. The environment at NAHS is extremely focused on results; so much so that many of the students attribute their self-esteem to their grades. This kind of thinking leads to a superiority complex in the children who take Honors and AP courses, and end up drowning in the academia. Personally, I have taken three AP courses and two Honors classes because I couldn't stand the feeling of falling behind my competitive classmates. However, students who schedule classes with an average difficulty are mocked by the "more advanced students" and label themselves as stupid, losing all motivation in academics, many fall to drugs, sex, or anything to help them cope with their horrendously low self-esteem. Regardless of what classes a student may be taking, enrolling another student means entering another victim to the toxicity of NAHS's academic environment. I love my school. I've been living in New Albany my whole life and I love the atmosphere and layout. The teachers care about you and only want the best in fact I'm writing this review in study center. People say we are white fenced but well what's better feeling safe in a very nice environment or worry if your going to get robbed on the way to school. read more

The school itself is pretty nice, my science teacher recently told me that there's been a mice problem. New Albany is know to be a "rich" place and when you go to the school you'll realize that this statement is pretty true. A lot of people at the school wear Abercrombie and Hollister, so I you want to fit in here go buy some Hollister jeans or Abercrombie dress. There are many different "groups" here, like: popular people, wanna be populars, tech nerds, book nerds, the people that always wear headphones. The school recently had a failed levy which means a bunch of things have been cut, sports cost like $650. I'm a freshmen this year and school just started a couple weeks ago, the first day was literally hell. The rooms are so far apart from each other because all the classes are in different sections which was horrible cause I had to carry all my supplies around with me on the first day. Getting a locker is optional and so I got one and it turns out they already assigned that locker to someone else so I borrow my friends locker now. There's also this thing called house like in "Harry Potter" where every one is split into groups and your in the same group for the rest of your high school life. And your house meets up every Wednesday and Thursday to promote "commUNITY", it's really boring. Lunch on Mondays, Tuesday's, and Fridays is 47 mins so that's great. Overall the school is okay, just try and make some friends or you'll be left alone for the rest of the year. read more
