There were more staff lined up at the window laughing and making rude signals, but most left when they saw they were being photographed.

Shocking experience at the hands of immature, poorly trained staff members. On Saturday afternoon I went to this hotel to meet with a large group of about 15 friends - all adults over the age of 40 yrs, to enjoy cocktails at sunset. We'd enjoyed our first cocktail when I went with my friend to purchase our 2nd cocktails. As we approached the bar, we were told by a young bar tender to come down to the other end of the bar (there was nobody else at the bar at this point in time). My friend asked why, and he said because that's where he was going to serve us and if we wanted to be served, we'd have to come down there. I later realised that this had just been an immature power play. But despite the bartender's demand coming across as extremely abrupt and rude, I still wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and assumed there must be some valid reason for this seemingly rudely delivered demand. We placed our orders and whilst we waited for our drinks to be made, we watched as others arrived at the bar at exactly the position we'd been standing originally and placed their orders with other bar tenders without being asked to go elsewhere. When he came back I said loud enough for him to hear that I might make a complaint about this bartenders attitude and politely asked him what his name was. He said it was Aiden. We paid for our drinks and left, but on the way back to our table my friend suggested that he may have given us a false name. I decided I'd go back and take his photo to be sure our complaint was accurate. Seconds later, I was approached by security and told that I'd have to leave the premises. I thought at first he'd made a mistake and was supposed to approach someone else. My response was surprise as I asked why. He told me that I was intoxicated and abusive to the staff! I was shocked! I've never in my life been asked to leave a bar and drunken abusive behaviour is certainly not part of my persona! My response was that he couldn't possibly be serious, as it was obvious that this was just not true. He told me I had 5 minutes to get out or he'd call the police. To which I responded that he should do just that. Then it would have obviously ruled out intoxication at the very least and no doubt the Police would be able to see for themselves what sort of people we were. No, it was obvious to all of us there that it was just a young kid behind the bar who for whatever reason decided he'd be disrespectful to two older ladies who were innocently enjoying an outing with a group of friends and when he saw that we weren't happy with his treatment of us, he'd decided he'd exert his "power" by concocting some nonsense about being drunk and abusive and have us removed. As my friend pointed out, if the bar tender had honestly believed us to be drunk, he should have refused to serve us at all. I understand the fines are $5000 for the individual server and $30,000 for the hotel owner! But he'd served us because he'd obviously had no reason not to.The friends that we were with decided that they didn't want to give the hotel any more custom and we all left and went to the Ivanhoe down the road which as it turned out was infinitely nicer anyway and with live music as well.On the way out, the bartender responsible for this stood at the glass behind the bar that overlooked the stairs to get out and laughed and shimmied and stuck his finger up at us as we were leaving, as did the rest of the bar staff. One of my friends took a photo of this as well! We were all shocked and disgusted at such appalling treatment and it showed that either there was no management at that bar or that whoever was in charge was part of it all. I've read other reviews on this hotel and it seems that "rude and obnoxious staff" is a recurring complaint. We will not be paying this establishment a 2nd visit.

We got a suite (2 bedrooms) and the room itself was nice. The master and the living room overlooked the ocean (obstructed by trees though) and the second bedroom with two twin beds overlooked another hotel with a slight ocean view. The kitchen area was OK - it had a fridge and a microwave. There were two bathrooms and one of them had a shower where the door doesn't go completely to the floor (read: very wet bathroom floor). The hotel itself is nice and the staff is nice as well, but there are very few perks. The rooftop pool is very tiny and has AstroTurf which gets REALLY hot in the sun. Additionally, the WiFi isn't free and the paid WiFi is still iffy at best. You can send texts / emails / iMessages but you can't send pictures or watch videos. There's no way I could work from my laptop, either. There is no complimentary coffee but there is a breakfast buffet. We didn't try it but it looked nice - there was a big organic table with fresh honeycomb. You get a discount if you are staying at the hotel. The main draw of this hotel is its proximity to the wharf, the corso, restaurants, and the beach. Everything we did was in quick walking distance. All in all, the hotel was OK - wouldn't recommend nor discourage.

We watched the cooks prep for our food and it was handed to us fresh off the stove. Food wise, the portion size is simply enormous and we couldn't finish the takeout box despite lots of walking during the day. But that doesn't sacrifice the quality. The salt and pepper squid was on point, yet not overpowering. The deep fried prawns was simply perfect. You can taste the freshness of the prawn just underneath the deep fried batter. Fish was cooked beautifully and didn't fall apart easily when you slice through it. It's already 5 star experience and I would have given a bonus point to the restaurant for having biodegradable wooden takeout cuttery.

Visited by Long time friends and new acquaintances. Ivan loves it's Wednesday burger days at 12.50 for a meal. Our trio choose the second floor because the first floor is quite dark but the outside deck is stunningly sunny with wall greenery, flat screen TVs, heaps room, and funky wicker decor. Our burgers arrive swiftly- having come from, I understand the cleanest kitchen in the business. Chips are salty and crunchy and meat has been cooked to preference. My 'beef' with this burger is the size of bun to patty and the taste of the meat. Bun is too big and each time I bite-sauce and bits fall out. And the meat has a game-y flavour. Is it weird to say "animaly"? Not the best burger I've had but the kitchen does offer a huge array of options and I'd eat here again
