For dinner one night I wasn't feeling well so I stayed in and ordered a burger, it was a sad rendition of the American classic. Also when they'd catered our coffee one morning they brought us a large French press, enough for 3-4 cups, fine for one person, but our group of 10 looked like they might attack if we didn't get a quick refill... which came 20 minutes later.

The assortment of pastries and food is phenomenal but two of my favorites were the bacon (what I am more used to calling Canadian ham) and the poached eggs. DELICIOUS. This was my first time to Australia so I knew nothing about the area but upon doing some research it looked like it was centrally located to many venues and the airport via public trans and also within walking distance. First off, I don't consider this hotel luxurious by any means, and I don't mean that in a bad way; however, it is very comfortable! I would compare it to a Marriott Residence Inn here in the US. It was very clean and spacious with amazing views! Staff was always very personable, friendly, efficient, and accommodating to our needs. Location is awesome because it is within walking distance to both the Museum Station and Town Hall train stations as well as several bus stations. As a matter of fact, we did do quite a bit of walking as well rather than taking public trans for exercising and it took the same amount of time in certain instances (like rush hour) to get to the same place(s). As for most accommodations, nothing is without its faults. I could not get the dishwasher to work and I thought it was just user error; come to find out, it is backed up with water inside. I phoned the front desk in the morning prior to leaving for the day and when we returned it still wasn't fixed so I called again and they sent someone to fix it, which they did quickly. They informed us that they do not provide housekeeping services but if we needed anything to just ask, and ask we did! They also sent someone daily during the last couple of days during our stay to empty the trash and provide us with clean towels and other necessities (without asking). They are very conservative with toiletries and any other standard necessities such as soap, shampoo, dish soap, toilet paper, etc.. as a matter of fact, they do not provide paper towels and they also were hard to find at any local stores, so it must be the way they are, which is fine, just wasn't used to that here in the states (we also had to ask for coffee daily unless we went out and made a run ourselves to a coffee shop). Bed was comfortable; however, I did notice towards the end of our stay while making it that the mattress topper was stained and I knew that wasn't from me! I called the front desk to let them know and they had someone bring a new freshly washed mattress topper. They also provide laundry service as well as washers and dryers in every unit which was convenient and thoughtful as I took advantage and did laundry every day. They also provide laundry detergent (but no softener) which comes in a little tube and is probably just enough for a small load so I ended up buying a small box at one of the local grocery stores so I didn't have to keep asking. While we had no issues with the HVAC system in our unit, we noticed the hallways had either no AC or they did not turn it on as well as part of the lobbyway. It was a little uncomfortable especially waiting for an elevator (they dub it a "lift"). Speaking of the "lift", wait times could be long depending on how busy it was & generally early mornings were the best with no waiting. I did feel secure, however, as you are only allowed to the 15th fl where the gym is located, the lobby, and the floor that your unit is located. As for the cost, it is considered pricey by Australian standards; however, given the exchange rate per USD it was substantially cheaper and a great value for the money & this was a high floor unit (48th fl)! If I return to Australia someday (which I hope I will, it is a great country) I'd definitely stay in a Meriton Suites again!

It's right by World Square and Regent Place so I was able to eat so much incredible Asian food all within a few blocks from the hotel. Also, a lot of places around the hotel stays open late and walking around is safe. The reason I'm giving three stars is because of the service I got and the slow ass elevators. I arrived at 8am and the room wasn't ready, which was expected. I asked if I could borrow a key to access the gym so I can shower to freshen up for a meeting in a couple hours. The front desk said they can but they would charge me extra, which is absurd because the Meriton on Pitt St. nearby offered to let me use the gym to shower for free when I was in Sydney a couple months ago. The only reason I even asked about the gym access was because Pitt St. offered it to me so I thought it was an option since I'm a guest. This and even the Pitt St. location has slow elevators that it takes forever to go up and come down. This location has more elevators than Pitt, but still slow as hell. Their elevator operating system is really inefficient. Overall, I'd still come back because of the apartment style, room has a washing machine, and location. Wish they could just improve on what I mentioned.

This hotel is…read morestill magnificent, comfortable, clean, includes amazing service, comes with a full well-equipped kitchen, has a washer and dryer in the room and is spacious and excellent. What's changed is the neighborhood... The central business district used to be well located for site seeing but pretty dead atmosphere wise. Just corporate buildings and workers. Quiet at night and silent on the weekends. Now, it's an amazing hub of activity with residents, coffee shops, restaurant, bars, shops and more plus the corporate buildings. The main drag, George Street, is now pedestrian only and relaxing to walk along. We look forward to returning again somehow, some way, in the future! We already agreed Mantra 2 on Bond Street will be our destination again! Usually, I feel like the employees emphasize hospitality like always having a smile and going above and beyond when it comes to service. Hyatt has always been just that but in Sydney the hospitality definitely missed the mark. I'm not sure how Australia defines "customer service", we didnt get smiles, maps of the surrounding area or any genuine conversations. Usually the front desk agents enquire about where your traveling from and ask questions like how long are you here for etc. I did notice there was a big conference going on so they might have been overwhelmed but after visiting a few surrounding restaurants I think I'm just spoiled by American Customer Service. Nice hotel, in the heart of Sydneys CBD; I found it easy to get to my destinations like the zoo and the aquarium. So many things to do within a 5 mile radius. They didn't have a pool which was a little disappointed but overall I enjoyed my stay because I was always in the city. Not much to do at the resort which felt more like a hotel for business purposes.

The suite itself isn't so bad but it's not as luxurious as they describe themselves to be. The lobby has a nice modern touch, complete with a pool, jaccuzi, and a gym (6am-10pm), but don't expect much else. There's no room service since it's a suite, so I'm not dinging them on that. There's a washer and dryer, dishwasher, utensils/dishes, fridge, toaster, and an electric kettle. The floors were not clean and despite it being a smoke free hotel, I can see a cigarette burn on the carpeted area clear as day. I would not walk bare feet in any hotel anyway, but this one in particular, I'd bleach my feet if I inadvertently touched it. I just get a sense that it's not cleaned well so the icky feeling was hard to rub off. I legit boiled water and tried to sanitize as much surface area as I could. It's a short walk to the office, but other than that, there really weren't any perks for me. I'll be here another week so I'm not thrilled about my Sydney leg of the trip. Can't wait to go back home.

For the elevators, you need your room key to get to the floors with the rooms, which of course makes sense. I did not have any issue getting to the floors with the event spaces. The lobby itself always remained clean and there is free candy on Fridays and Saturdays. My only issue is that the bathrooms continued to run out of toilet paper. Being that they knew there was an event there with over 100 people, bathroom supplies should've been filled more often.

I recently stayed one night in an Executive Room at Kirketon Hotel Sydney and, unfortunately, it was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I've had. The room felt small and stale, with sealed windows and air-conditioning vents that appeared heavily dusty, which triggered my allergies. The bathroom showed significant dark staining in the grout that appeared to be mould, the sink was chipped, and the shower was almost impossible to use comfortably because the separate hot and cold taps constantly fluctuated between freezing and boiling hot. The bedding was uncomfortable, and I had one of the worst night's sleeps I've had in a hotel. The hotel advertises "rainfall showers in stylish bathrooms", but that wasn't the room I experienced. What disappointed me even more was what happened afterwards. I contacted the hotel directly the day after my stay and followed up when I received no response. It wasn't until I lodged a complaint with NSW Fair Trading that the hotel finally replied over two months later. I responded the same day, but they stopped communicating again and the matter ultimately remained unresolved. I understand older boutique hotels have character, but cleanliness, maintenance and customer service should still meet a reasonable standard, especially for a $249 Executive Room. I'm sharing this simply so future guests know what my experience was and can make an informed decision before booking.
