So after a year of living with a failed root canal I decided it was best to part with my leftover half of a second molar and make space for an implant. New Concept Dental was referred to me from my old dentist who retired. The ladies at the front desk are super nice and so was Dr. Matthews who examined me. He wanted to take my half molar right then and there but I told him I needed to say goodbye to it properly. Truth was I was chicken. I really, really, really hate getting my teeth worked on but it must be done. The alternative is far worse. The day of my surgery I was scared but very comforted. These people understand that no one likes the dentist and they do their best to put you at ease. No lecture, no torture, some good Tylenol with Codiene to ease the pain. I slept like a baby and the next day I was good as new. I didn't even have swelling or bruising. They give you detailed instructions on your after care and a follow up phone call. My family and I have been a patients at this practice for more than 20 years and will be changing to another provider. In the past few years, things have really gone downhill. They have become more corporate and their dentists are focused on pushing unnecessary procedures. Billing is a nightmare - recently received a bill that was issued two days after my visit (before they even submitted it to insurance) stating I owed them, yet when I went in person to straighten it out, they acknowledged that in fact I didn't owe them anything and had a credit on my account that they owed me! Most recently, when they referred me out to a specialist and that office contacted them to get necessary information, the New Concept Dental staff gave inaccurate information to the specialist's practice, which resulted in my having to spend a couple of hours trying to straighten out the situation. I then called and left a message for the practice manager at New Concept Dental asking for a call back - never got a call back, but honestly since the staff on the phone argued with me about the necessity of my request to speak with the practice manager and tried to rationalize away their giving out wrong information to the specialist practice, not sure if she was given the message. Finally, I find it a bit short-sighted that during my last visit, they have posted signs that say they are no longer giving out toothbrushes or toothpaste/floss samples as management has determined they need to cut costs. read more

I had to explain to the business manager why they should not say pre-cancer screenings are part of an included exam if they're going to bill insurance (I questioned this directly before it was done and was lied to). I was given a well-practiced talking point about how they do it to advocate for insurance to cover them (efficacy is in question). I said, "it's great that you're passionate about that, but you can't use patients as pawns without their consent--we see you're trying to bill insurance, and I didn't consent to that". I'll let the dental board and lawyers sort out if what I experienced is more consequential than feeling "shady.". They care about growing, not their staff or community. Staff turnover is ridiculous. Visits are chaotic, nobody knows what they're doing. Every time I go they find a new way to cheapen and worsen the experience. They stopped giving out toothbrushes to cut costs. Literally every other dentist gives out toothbrushes. I think the country had had enough of feeling like everyone is just trying to scam us and nickel and dime us. I assume the owner lives in a wealth bubble that has normalized these business practices and has no idea how mad the country is with this kinda stuff right now. I kinda miss the days when we expected local businesses to respect the community and act with integrity. I think consumer demand is shifting back towards that traditional expectation. My family and I will be finding a new dentist that meets that standard. read more

What a mess this office is. I spoke with them on the phone and was advised they wouldn't schedule until the intake form was completed, and once they received the information, they would call me to schedule. I waited a week, crickets. I had to call them and then was given the run around because the dentist listed on the practice's website no longer works in that office. They were willing to schedule an appointment with me, but did NOT inform me that I would have to pay out of pocket for the appointment since the DMO list wasn't active until June 1. Talk about bait and switch, this is an unscrupulous business practice at best, and fraud at worst. When the office is this fouled up, it doesn't instill much confidence in the clinicians. read more

Dr. Nguyen is easily the best dentist i've ever had. she's very kind, attentive, and always makes sure you feel comfortable in her chair. the assistants at new concept are also amazing. very nice and know what they are doing. service here is usually fast and appointments are easy to get once you can get a desk person on the phone. sometimes you have to leave a voicemail and have them call you back but it's never longer then a days wait. whole place is clean and i really couldn't recommend it more. read more

I came to this dental practice last year because my current dentist was dropping my dental insurance and this new one accepted it. So I go in for a routine Cleaning and immediately this technician is hurting me really badly with a probe. And I'm trying to tolerate it and then after a few minutes of this and I could feel that I was really bleeding. I told her to stop and I asked her, What are you doing and she said she was doing a full gum check for gum disease . She then begins to tell me I have horrible gum, disease and I need very serious treatments that will be very uncomfortable and ongoing. So as a fully grown adult who has never had bleeding gums, I'm thinking to myself why would this person do this, and not even tell me what they were doing. So I would not let her continue and they cleaned my teeth and then they told me that I must have all this other dental work done to save my gums. So I went back to my old dentist and had my teeth cleaned again, and a full examination again and of course, no mention of gum, disease or anything else. I think this organization border lines on Malpractice to tell you the truth. It's now been a year and a half since that appointment and I've been back to my old dentist twice and I've had no problems with my gums. Please don't consider this place. read more

Way to expensive. New to the area, I needed a dentist in my insurance network. My initial appointment charged me an additional $100 after the insurance payment. They laser scanned my existing teeth (only 20 left) and tried to hard sell me Invisalign teeth straightening system. The reason I chose them is that they said they do implants. They don't. They referred me to a specialist for the procedure of the implanting of the core. I declined as it is far above anything that I can afford. Next I asked about filling the 2 cavities in one molar. They said it will be $1200 to fill after my insurance coverage. This is not the place for routine fillings, and I still need a dentist that won't make me pay for his mansion in that gated community. What a waste of time and money. I will be losing another tooth to decay soon. read more

They use a lot of new technology like lasers and same day crowns which also means that their charges are much higher than a standard general practice dentist. Expect to pay a lot more out of pocket for what your dental insurance will not cover. I didn't find the dentistry to be any better or any worse than a dentist charging much less. read more

I love New Concept Dental! They offer evening hours on certain days of the week which is great for me because I work 8:30 AM - 5 PM Monday to Friday. The receptionists are always so friendly and the doctors are great! The hygienist staff are the best and always leave me feeling squeaky clean. They are super gentle to the sensitive spots on my teeth (due to receding gums). My husband and I are both patients of New Concept Dental and can't say enough good about it! This was my fathers first time coming here. My father was part of a new dental plan and Had his first appointment. This office checked his insurance plan and made sure his insurance was valid BEFORE they did any work. The reason for visit was he had a tooth that was really hurting him. They did X-rays and could not find the tooth?????? They sent him home with another scheduled appointment this coming Monday.. in pain. This morning I received a call from this female dentist stating that this dental office is out of network for my fathers insurance and she would have to cancel his appointment??? They already checked out his insurance right in front of him... no dentist is going to do anything for free ... obviously they checked his insurance ... this is obvious discrimination and smells of Gangstalking .... I wish I could recommend this practice, as they have a number of good qualities- they offer sedation, and many of their staff members are pleasant. However, their billing department is so poorly run that I simply can't recommend them. Very very displeased with new concepts services. Arrived to my appointment only for them to inform me that the dentist had a emergency and would not be in. Which I totally understand emergencies happen. And was told I could wait in my car ( due to Covid) because they called in a replacement but had no time frame as to when he would be in. After 40mins if wait I ran around the corner to the gas station to use the bathroom in which at that time received a call that the dentist has arrived. I told them I was around the corner at the gas station and I puke be there in 5 mins. The receptionist at that time told me, no we can't wait for you and you would need to reschedule. I informed her that I was pulling in the lot as we speak and she still goes to say, we have other people we need to see and you where not on the property when we called so you can wait once again in your car or reschedule, but if you wait it's not giving if we will be able to see you. I waited and never even received a Courtesy call saying I wouldn't be seen. So I called back to ask for my deposit back that I put down 2weeks prior for a root canal I was supposed to get done that they actually called the morning of the Procedure to cancel and asked for a refund and was told that someone will contact me with that. And two weeks later I still have yet to receive a call. This is three different Incidents that is honestly one to many and as very displeased. And to date have yet to hear back from anyone nor received my $100 deposit back read more

I came to this office for a teeth cleaning, but got a full mouthful of X-rays and a bunch of probing and recommendation for deep cleaning a month and half later. I didn't get my teeth cleaned and wasted an hour with a bloody mouth. I would have been ok if they actually scheduled me in soon but they told me they can't clean my teeth without deep cleaning and rescheduled me to a month and half later and said that's the earliest available.If I actually had a tooth problem waiting a month and half is probably the last thing I want to do. I have super sensitive teeth. Every dental hygienist I have had hurt me! My last appointment I seen Patty for my cleaning. She has the softest touch and the appointment was painless!! Dr. Mathews is a competent dentist and explains what needs to be done without overwhelming you. So many times the front office is ran by some rather sour individuals. I went to New Concept Dental and was told I would need a root canal. I opted to be sedated. Before the procedure, the office staff calculated the amount I would have to pay out of pocket based on the estimate my insurance would pay. I paid the difference prior to the procedure (over $1,000). My insurance paid every penny they New Concept estimated they would, then I got a bill in the mail for an additional $750. I find this to be a rip off. T top it all off, my new dentist told me that I did not have a root canal on that tooth and it was just a cap. I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

My dentist, Dr. Hertzfeld, joined this practice, so I went for my scheduled cleaning. I understand that dentistry has evolved from the one dentist practice I went to most of my life, however, that doesn't mean I should be treated like a piece of crap. The hygienist was rude and acted like she was so much better than me because I had a little tartar, I am a 'gagger', and don't floss often enough. ( Sorry I am not perfect, that's why I get my teeth professionally cleaned every 6 months.) Then they tried to sell me some anti-bacterial crap - oh your health insurance should cover this - luckily my insurance turned it down and I found out it costs $2000. Because all that was done was 100 x-rays and some measurements and me feeling like less of a person, my teeth were never cleaned on that first, and last visit. Needless to say, I went to a new dental place for the actual cleaning - no anti-bacterial crap was needed - and even though I was given the floss lecture, I was treated with respect. read more
