The site was not a "prime" lean-to so it was a bit lacking in the view. Our site was clean and sizable with restrooms nearby. Pros: Can make reservations over the phone. More availability versus campsites closer to Montpelier/Stowe. Friendly park service staff. Firewood and other supplies available for purchase. Bathrooms with plumbing and shower. Cons: Not very close to areas with services (food, coffee, gas, grocery, etc). Decent place to stay if you just need a campsite.

It's great as far as I am concerned. No dirt gets in the RV. Two complaints... 1, it's hard to see the roads at night. Some markers would help. 2, the laundry has one washer and one dryer. No folding table, but there is a large sink. I would give it a 4.5 but 4 it is.

After spending the entire summer recovering from cancer treatment I very much appreciate all the hard work that Gregg and Karen put into this campground. Their love for this property really shows. They are always kind and caring and we look forward to seeing them and staying at Fransted. This place is just what the doctor ordered and I am so happy to be well enough to make it here this season. I do get a chuckle out of reading some reviews as people feel that Fransted is the only campground that has rules and fees. Every campground has rules and every campground has a visitor policy with a fee in most cases and a campsite limit in number of people. Many must not camp a lot or just don't care but the 2 general things I go by is he who owns the land makes the rules and if there is a written rule it is because someone did something they should not have. So to hit on a few I read, if only 6 or 7 are allowed on a site then why are you mad when you can't have 8,9 or 10 people. If the fire department gave a campground a permit to operate as long as there is only one car per site, why do you deserve to have 2 cars at the site and finally, if one thinks there is much of a different have a cooler full of food vs an outside refrigerator full of food, really, same thing. Anyway I am so happy to be able to camp at Fransted just wish I could have stayed a lot longer but we will return for sure. Thank you for an awesome campground.

Cool little climbing gym as part of a great complex. We stopped in to try it out and had a great…read moretime. They have a nook that you can climb up to and sit in! I thought that was super cool, and my kids loved it. The gym has high walls as well as a small bouldering area. The mats were a bit harder than what I was used to but nothing to worry about. The service was fantastic, and we were shown how to fall and given all the rules before we started. I can appreciate a gym that is safety oriented. By the time we left it was getting very busy. But great little gym in this area! Loved it! I would love to drop back by if I am in the area! Thank you!

I stopped in to climb while in the area for a bit. I try to climb a couple days a week where I…read morelive, and I'd say I'm a high beginner/low intermediate climber. As mentioned both on the website and in another review, it is a little confusing to find the gym but just keep walking to the back of the Evergreen community center and you'll find it. Something I was excited about for this gym was that it has relatively tall walls compared to what I am used to climbing on, and I was really looking forward to practicing some longer routes BUT there were only 2 auto-belays, which was a bit of a disappointment for me. If you know how to belay and have a buddy, there are a bunch of really awesome looking routes but if you are a solo climber that doesn't want to pay a staff belay, you're kind of SOL. The bouldering area is pretty good but I found myself really limited in what was offered to a not-super-great climber like myself. I also didn't understand the bouldering route system - one of the staff explained it to me and I THOUGHT I understood it, but it turns out I really didn't! Overall, it seems like this gym is geared towards more skilled climbers with not as many options for people like me. I had a good enough time, but it didn't feel like there was a lot of me there. I can imagine that this is an awesome place to go for more skilled climbers!

Adam is great to deal with and was able to schedule me in a couple weeks in advance as we were on a time crunch. You start of in the pen and take a nice ride past a pond, through a river to start, and amazing ride through the woods and loop back around. This ride is recommended for everyone, from beginners to advanced riders. Views are spectacular!!

We brought our dogs with us on a ski trip and came here every morning before we skied. The surface…read moreis grass and they provide drinking bowls and a basket of dog toys, including tennis balls, chuck its with balls, frisbees and rope toys. There is a no plastic bagging policy, but scoopers and dog poop composting bins are placed throughout the park. The dog poop composting is maintained by VOLUNTEERS. There is a corner in the back reserved for the equipment the volunteers use to turn it into mulch and there was really no smell in that area at all! They have a water access point located within the large dog park. The small dog park has a separate entrance which was blocked by the snow. What is nice is that there is also an entrance between the large and small dog parks, which can be helpful for those small or reactive dogs who have settled down in the small dog park and want to try joining the large dog park. There is also a separate gate in the large dog park which opens to the woods on the back which border on the river. In warmer months, dogs can go swimming or wading in the river. There is a shelter with two picnic benches and a library book box within in the large dog park. The dog park is located at the end of a side road (River Road) from the main road (Route 2) surrounded by the woods near a river.

There is also a super cute Little Free Library where you can take a book and leave a book! It is a very large area for the puppies to roam. There is a water spicket for filling water bowls that has been shut off for the winter. There is even a small pen that if you have a dog that doesn't get along with others they can have their own personal space just to themselves.
