Beautiful campground for our RV. We have a slot that is huge... quite a distance from the next slot. It's in a beautiful field. The sites are grass, which I have never seen before. It's great as far as I am concerned. No dirt gets in the RV. Two complaints... 1, it's hard to see the roads at night. Some markers would help. 2, the laundry has one washer and one dryer. No folding table, but there is a large sink. I would give it a 4.5 but 4 it is. read more

We stayed there four nights spent over $300. Basically on top of our neighbor we need to stay an extra two hours on Monday wasn't busy at all. I moved the trailer out of our site and parked it in the back corner of an empty lot. We were still charged a late fee. These people don't care about anything but the money don't stay there. read more

My wife and I really want to give this campground a five-star review, but they make it so difficult to do so.... We've stayed here twice (for multiple days) and here's what we've observed: Our biggest complaint is that they are hard to engage for reservations, etc. Example: No on-line booking. Call the number, leave a message, play a little phone-tag, dicker over dates on the phone. Then arrive and notice that the campground is only half-full anyway. (Advice to owners: Invest in a decent on-line reservation tool!) Here's another example: We needed to move some items from storage in a tiny U-Haul trailer, so we asked the office if it would be OK to park the U-Haul somewhere for the evening before our departure. We were told there was NO WAY, as they were 100% booked and no spots were available, anywhere. So we made other (less convenient) arrangements but lo and behold, the night before and the day of our departure the campground was less than one third occupied and there were literally dozens of empty places we would have been happy to use (and pay for!) if given the option. On the plus side, the location is beautiful, with a river running on the border where our dogs love to splash. They're pet-friendly. There's a nice pool. It's close to Stowe Village.The rates are reasonable. The campground WiFi, when it works, is fast and stable. It's just unfortunate that the management of the place puts up barriers to getting in. One last thing: I notice that they tend to put tent campers along the entry road, where there's a steady stream of traffic past the sites. I can't understand why they don't tend to put tenters at the back of the campground, where it's peaceful and virtually no other traffic. read more

For the positive; The facility itself is nice. The place is clean and the grass field is immaculately kept. They also have a nice playground for the kids. The pool is clean. A really nice location if you're visiting Stowe. For the negatives; the people who run the place could not be any more unfriendly! Absolutely no attention to customer service. I went in to the "office" to buy wood and the guy could not have been more creepy and rude. He acted like I was more of a bother to him rather than a customer. Another guy cleaning the bathroom yelled at my 9yo son to get out untill he was done (no sign saying it was closed for cleaning). My poor son who really needed to go had to wait a few minutes as the guy made no accommodation for a little boy really needing to go. Also, no camp store. They sell wood but nothing else (and be prepared to deal with the grumpy guy if you want wood!). Look elsewhere for ice, snacks, RV/camping supplies. I gave it 2 stars based on the location and the grounds themselves (again, the grass field is great for a game of catch, dogs, etc). read more

Very little shade and the showers are deplorable. They need to e reprinted or completely rebuilt. I felt that I'd be dirtier after taking a shower than beforehand. Only thing that looked new and improved was there washing machine and dryer read more

Not all negative here - the campground is ideally located between Waterbury and Stowe, lots to do in that area (good beer and cider). The view from the campground is very nice, surrounded by mountains. Not much shade or trees so if it's raining you may have trouble putting up a tarp. I would NOT recommend families to go there. There are 2 ways to enter this campground, none of them checked by the owners of the place. We had reserved the site at the very end to make sure we were going to be quiet, which was mentioned over the phone while reserving - and they booked 2 groups on either side of our site. At some point there were about over 25 cars around our site, playing loud music, parked on our site, we couldn't get to our tent. Music at 5.30am...anyway, you know where I'm going with this. I made a complaint Saturday about the music, yet it happened again on Sunday morning. Long story short - we did not enjoy our stay at Gold Brook Campground - I think there should be more control over the place because it seemed like a big messy party place. If that's your thing, then go there ! read more

We are here now at a tent site #12 , which is along the dirt road everyone uses to enter and exit the campground so there were headlights and cars driving past us every night which was annoying when trying to sleep so I would recommend a site away from the road for sure and not near the entrance as we r , we picked this campground due to it being the closest w/ electric and water to Stowe since my nephew is getting married at the Stoweflake Resort this is a much more affordable way to stay than the $250 a night motel w/ 2 night minimum...so for $70 for 2 nights because it was $5 more a night due to the annual antique car show they have in Stowe every year so it would of been cheaper another wkend , we were very happy to find this place . It's very open with a brook along the back of where we r , There is shade and scattered trees and open grassy sites and very pretty ,The rest rooms and playground are out dated but kept very clean and and functional.. no showers allowed after 10 pm ?? There's a laundry room with 1 washer and dryer , a pool which we didn't use at the entrance of the campground we didn't have time to use since we were with our family all day at Stoweflake resort ,It's like a 10 min car ride to the resort . I would definitely recommend this campground, it's very nice and in a great location and Niomi was really nice when I checked in ... I didnt have the pleasure of meeting the grumpy man all others have mentioned and our stay was pleasant, Just get a site away from the main route and the road coming in and you'll be happy ! Go in back where you'll have some peace and quiet ..also people got louder in the night like yelling voices but it didn't last too long .. This is a nice campground u should def stay here if your in the area , I took lots of pics enjoy ! read more

Lovely spot. Quiet yet right off RT 100. Very close to Stowe village. Sites are semi shady. We backed in and the hookup was on the other side of coach, but not a prob. Excellent cable. No real wifi except for the office area. Playground area good. Looks of wide open space and decent views. Check in was friendly and pleasant. read more

Loooove Gold Brook! We showed up with no reservation and were quickly and easily on our way to a beautiful campsite. There was a fire pit and a little brook running behind our site. The bathrooms were close by and really clean, and the pool was amazing!! The water was the perfect temperature super refreshing on a hot day. read more

As depicted in the previous reviews, don't expect friendly service. Our interaction with the owner was simply transactional, which was fine with us. He was accommodating when we asked to switch campsites to be in a more shaded area. The campsite itself is a large field with nice green grass, so many of the campsites are out in the open. We stayed at lot #34 which did have tree cover and a brook behind it where you can go splash around in or sit on the sandy bank. The price came out to $13 per person per night for the 3 of us, not sure how that was calculated exactly. My favorite part was how the campsite was pretty much empty (granted we stayed on a Sunday night in August). The closest neighbor was about 10 sites away from us. read more

Stayed here for the first time in a TT. Site was grassy and clean.(would have been 5 stars if we could have used our outdoor mat). John put us right near the playground since we had our preschooler with us. Pool clear, clean and refreshing. winter camping. only campground in the state. tent sites are a bit of a walk to bathrooms. two bathhouses for very large grounds, but better than an outhouse. a few toilets and a few shower stalls in the one bath i went into. plus laundry. heated, but i think just barely enough so the pipes don't freeze. didn't get that cold, but it did get down to low 30's upon my visit in November. i certainly did not feel warmed up when i entered the bathhouse. grumpy old man upon arrival; check. thirty bucks for tent site and about 35 for 20amp RV. 30amp and higher are available, but didn't ask rates. simple rules as should be expected at any campground except the no rugs on grass makes sense. really? you bring a rug camping? trash in dumpster, not bathrooms, don't abuse the alcohol privilege, pets on leash, pick up after your pet, fires in pits only, shower before 10pm and 10am for cleaning, etc. its kind of expensive for a parking space, but bathrooms are a plus. especially in winter with the other option being illegal camping. it might be worth the savings if you could do without the running water in the bathrooms and electric hookup for the night and you're as cheap/thrifty as i. happy camping! read more
