In the front, it looks like a plant shop since they have a huge variety of plants, flowers, and succulents. And it's way more than a corner convenience store, but actually a grocery store with all the usuals - okay produce, eggs + dairy, and a surprisingly great section of frozen vegan treats. They also have a huge fridge in the back with every kind of fun bevvy you can dream of, from La Croix to kombucha and everything in between. Support these gems by shopping local!

Lots of specials as well on different proteins at any given time. The points rewards system - which leads to money you can redeem on future purchases - is excellent. I shop the same as I did at Longo's where literally it took months to get the types of rewards I get now in a week! The staff are generally super affable and helpful. I apparently like a community feel and ask lots of questions - produce, bakery, meat, and the guy who does eggs - all these departments have been really great. Also a very helpful customer service guy as well (because I'm still unfamiliar with how rewards and QR codes for dollars off in store work). Some checkout people are better than others (they typically check that sale items reflect the sale price but I've learned you have to do that yourself or it means another trip back to the store), but they're always polite and friendly. It's a clean location with lots of brands and products to choose from, well organized and well stocked. I also get lots of reduced items near expiry for bakery items or things I wouldn't normally buy regular because they aren't so healthy for our family. I steer clear weekdays during lunch time because the prepared sections tend to get really busy with kids from the local school and I prefer shopping generally when there are few people. So far a great experience and look forward to becoming a regular.

Strictly Bulk is a godsend for the terribly grocery-deprived Bloorcourt area. The store carries everything from organic laundry soap to bulk candy (whoo!). Despite the name, they do carry a few non-bulk and prepackaged items, including my beloved Fontaine Sante hummus. The prices are more than competitive, and they beat out the bulk sections of some of the large grocery stores nearby (such as No Frills at Dufferin Mall or the Sobeys at Ossington and Dupont). You'll never want to buy steel cut oats at Whole Foods again! The savings are definitely there, whether you are buying for a large family or just one person. You aren't paying for packaging, marketing, etc. One time, for fun, I compared my bag of whole salted almonds to the prepackaged brand at Shoppers, and the price came out to nearly three dollars more per pound (!) if I had purchased the Life brand. And they were on sale! Spices are another incredible savings, if you only need a few tablespoons of something for one recipe you will pay pennies on the dollar with nothing left to lose its potency while it collects dust in your cabinet for months or years. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They will always check to make sure that they are charging the correct price for your items. I noticed tonight that they just put their staff holiday stockings up, so if you're a regular try to show them some love! There are plenty of people who love this place so much they seem to hang out at the tables up front drinking coffee all the time! Watch out for their limited weekend hours, I have been mid-recipe cooking Sunday dinner and popped over only to have forgotten that they close at 5pm. Recommended buys: Fontaine Sante dips, handmade face and body soaps, veggie pate, grind-it-yourself coffee (I like the Turkish kind). Best value is in spices and staples (rice, beans, etc). Needs some work: Very small cheese/refrigerated selection, not the most kid-friendly store - today I saw a little boy accidentally spill about a quarter pound of pasta on the floor, and I watched in horrified anticipation as he gathered it together if he was going to take it to the trash can or put it back in the bin. He ended up listening to his mom and left it for the cashiers to clean up.

Be warned that prices, as it's a very small convenience store, run a bit high. You might want to double check the best before on anything like bread as well. General house hold items like tools are available too. Service is generally friendly, and you'll be greeted upon entering with a hello and a smile. The place is relatively clean, but you'll notice the age of some products, especially the cheap candy toward the front, may be older than the store itself. None the less, aside from the gas station down Queensway, this is the only place in reasonable walking distance to pick up last minute cooking supplies, or a can of coke after a hot walk. We're lucky they're around, but the area really needs more shops to go with all the condos sprouting up.

The only think I've found so far is that in the winter, their produce is obviously not top notch. They won't throw away fruit that's slightly bruised or carrots that have got a little soft, but that's probably because it's much harder to get fresh stuff in the winter. Their lots of apples are huge, so you can always find a few good ones if you take a minute. The staff is always very friendly and helpful.

At the front of the store they sell fresh samosa which are incredibly delicious and fresh sweets. This is a mom and pop shop and they are all very kind and helpful. The store is very busy and they do a great job of customer service. They also keep things very tidy and well stocked. I really appreciate their kind and friendly service and it is a pleasure to see them working together. They clearly respect and care for each mother as well.
