As a first time mom, I was hesitant to start going back to work and to have her start going to daycare. Mrs. Luni and her wonderful staff set me at ease when I would leave her and I knew my daughter was not only in great hands but also learning and making new friends. I have watched my daughter transition into each classroom as she got older and adjust to her new teachers. Each staff member has always been attentive and have gone above and beyond to let me know how my little girl is doing while I'm at work. As a first time mom, it's so important that you trust the people that watch your children and also work with them to really provide your child all the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. I am so thankful to Creative Minds for being a pivotal piece in my daughter's development and for working with my crazy-obsessive mom requests ( "How much did she eat?" " Did she sleep okay?"). I remember for my daughter's second birthday, Melissa, the assistant director, let my daughters father and I use their break room during my daughter's naptime to start wrapping her gifts and preparing for her birthday party at the school. They even offered to help us and took pictures of the party for us. I have very few regrets in life and one of them was taking my daughter out of the school for a short period of time. When I moved to Westport I had taken my daughter out and placed her in Pumpkin Preschool of Westport. After three months, we came right back to Creative Minds because of how unhappy my daughter was in that horrible school. ( Please do not send your kids to the Pumpkin Preschool of Westport!! they care more about their money than they do about your child's well-being and care). I know better now than to ever make this mistake again. As soon as my daughter started going back to Creative Minds, it was as if she never left. She was smiling again, she remembered the friends she started with in the infant classroom, and we got to work with Luni and her wonderful staff again! Grateful is an understatement for what I feel about everything the daycare has done for my family and I. They have taught me on a daily basis how to be a better mother and to be the best mother I can be to my little girl. There are such wonderful daycares in the Fairfield County area and I'm sure that some of them may do some of the things that Creative Minds will do but if you want a extraordinary care, a daycare you can look at as an extended family for your child's most important years, Creative Minds is it. -Cece

Your establishment left me and my husband without childcare without any notice at all because you hire people with no manors or respect and it's not the first time that's been done to a family. But that is ok because rejection is protection. The same teacher I complained about was fired months after I complained about her for taunting another student, but I guess our son didn't deserve that same respect in your eyes.. or meet the criteria? I'm not sure but I stand on what I said. She kicked my son's cot with her foot while he was laying there right by his head and left eye. Also not perception, I watched it on Watch Me Grow. This establishment won't pull the audio that I asked for because it would validate what we already know. Your response is exceptionally telling and it proved my point. You're sorry for "my perception of how things happened?" It's not a perception, it's what happened: things I've documented, things my husband and I have seen/ heard walking in there. Please let's not go here. I have literal videos of me recording my son getting out of our car to start his day, and you can HEAR how the teachers are talking to these small children on the playground. I've heard staff talk horribly about parents, about how the children are dressed I could literally go on forever. And the ONLY reason my son continued to go there for as long as he did was because of his infant teacher, and the teacher he had right before he was asked to leave. You asked him to leave because we called out your staff, not because of his behavior, which is also very telling. Our boy is sweet, so to have a grown women tell staff members that she didn't want to have a 2 year old in her class when he wasn't even in her class yet "because the parents are crazy ?!?" he's done nothing to her is absolutely insane. If you never noticed when his teacher wasn't there I kept him home with me because I didn't trust any other staff, which was exhausting . Your turn over rate is high because you will continue to hire people that are not qualified because you want to pay bare minimum. This daycare is truly a parents worst nightmare. You will continue to back your staffs bad behavior. I wish all parents knew how these small children that cannot are talk are talked to and treated and that's also not perception it's just reality. The entire school is a soap opera, and the staff cry to the owner as soon as they are called out. My son goes to an amazing school now where all of the teachers are required to have an actual degree and have extensive Montessori training to help them thrive and where we are appreciated as parents and not gaslit into believing we are seeing and hearing things. We're valued for wanting our son to be treated like a human. So funny how we've never had a single issue at any other school (he's been to 1 other daycare after this and now an actual school) except HT then again we don't have to tell the teachers how to treat our child here, and are treated like family instead of dollar signs. But keep talking about families and kids in your group chat. Talking about children and their families is so unprofessional and shows how miserable the staff is within their own lives and we are not that way and it's not the kind of energy we'd want around our family anyway. Along with the teachers, the Directors are amazing as well. They are accessible and have truly taken the time to get to know the kids. We attended New Life Christian Church hoping to find a welcoming place to worship, but unfortunately our experience was the complete opposite. Before the service even started, the pastor publicly called my girlfriend and me out in front of the congregation last Wednesday because I had my arm around her while we were sitting together waiting for service to begin. He made a comment comparing us to being "at the movies," which felt humiliating, unnecessary, and extremely unwelcoming -- especially as newcomers. What made the experience worse was the overall tone and attitude. On multiple occasions during sermons, the pastor also spoke negatively about bartenders and people in that profession as if they were somehow promoting evil or "the devil's work." As someone who works in the restaurant/bar industry, it came across as judgmental, ignorant, and disconnected from the reality that hardworking people in those jobs are simply making an honest living. Church should be a place where people feel accepted, encouraged, and respected -- not publicly embarrassed or judged. The arrogance, lack of compassion, and immature comments completely pushed us away. Instead of leaving feeling inspired or closer to God, we left feeling uncomfortable and disrespected. We will absolutely be worshiping elsewhere in a healthier environment and I hope this review helps other newcomers know what kind of environment to expect before visiting. read more

The pastor is one of those people who think's it funny to 'offend' people by talking about how he's anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage. He thinks his opinion is God's opinion- huge red flag. There are two services each Sunday - one at 8:30 AM and one at 11:00 AM. The earlier is a (slightly) more traditional service, and the later is more contemporary. The church is known for its strong music ministry, strong teen and children's ministries, and Biblical preaching. Calvary Church believes that Jesus Christ is the only way to peace with God, and that the Bible is true and authoritative. If you are looking for a warm, welcoming church where you can be comfortable in either a suit or in jeans, Calvary is a good place to be.

It is pastored by Reverend Richard Flashman. I visited the church's morning service on November 1, 2009. The service began at 8:30 AM and ended about 9:45 AM. They also have an 11 AM service, and Sunday School between services. Beacon Hill is a mid-sized church - capacity for about 240 people, there were about 80 attenders the service I was there. The people are very warm and friendly, going out of their way to seek out visitors (there is a small part of service set aside for "greeting your neighbor and nearly everyone in church leadership came over to shake my hand and get my name). The dress is casual (even the elders serving communion were in jeans) although there were individuals wearing suits and ties here and there. The worship style is mixed with hymns dominating the more liturgical parts of the service, and worship choruses dominating the less liturgical parts. The church had a very "homey" atmosphere, with congregants speaking up during announcements and even one case where a hand was politely raised during the sermon to alert the pastor to an urgent prayer request. The sermon was thematic, setting out the pastor's vision for the church for the next year (part of an ongoing series). The sermon itself was light on scripture, but plenty of scripture was read elsewhere in the service. Overall, I had a very good experience at the church. This is a tightly-knit but friendly family of believers gathered to worship the Lord.

During service there is a specific time set aside to greet each other and catch up on the week. There is fellowship not only inside the church but also outside with BBQ's, small groups, movie nights etc. The job they do with the vacation bible school in the summer and Awana in the fall for the children is spectacular. It really is an environment that is extremely friendly to young Christian families. The services appeal to all ages. The music is a blend of contemporary & traditional with the perfect blend of hymns and current artist music. The sermons are passionate & real life stories mixed in with the message make it easily applicable. The women really opened up their hearts to my wife, and we were overwhelmed with the church's generosity when our son was born. Families provided us with meals for almost 2 weeks so that we could rest and enjoy our baby! Overall, we had a very good experience at the church. The love at this Church is incredible and I would highly recommend it to anyone in the Monroe area, especially if you have a young family that you want to get involved in a Christian community.

I called to get my letter to be my newphews God mother and was told no by Marilyn and the "priest" because I am not a "registered parishioner" and don't attend mass. When I asked how they would know if I attended or not, no answer was given. I said is it because I am not putting money in an envelope? Marilyn replied... "well no, not necessarily." Well, I would love to know how you take attendance at church... oh, wait you don't. Last I checked, there is NOTHING in the Bible stating I have to give money to be a parishioner. You never know someone's financial situation and it is disgusting to see how greedy the Catholic Church has become. My mom called to speak to the "priest" - he was BEYOND rude. He asked her "where do you attend church?" My moms reply was, "I have had a tough time getting back to church since my husband died..." The "priests" response was... "maybe that's your entire family's issue." What GENUINE person... a "child of God's" makes such an asinine comment to a widow. I would NEVER recommend anyone to attend this church. Being a first responder, a Catholic, a God mother to other children means nothing. It's INCREDIBLE that you can ENTER the United States of America easier than it is to become a God mother. I'm sure God has forgiven me for not being a "registered parishioner" ... that's the LEAST of his worries compared to the priests of the Catholic Churches who HAVE and CONTINUE to do WORSE to our INNOCENT children. Where do I begin? I'll start, as does our pastor with the triumphant trumpet fanfare (and lots of…read moreincense) which announces his entrance. There's nothing that means church more than a truly impressive royal arrival. I'm sure that thousands of parishoner dollars were spent on a major renovation of the sanctuary, which now includes statutes, a large golden sunburst and an immense surround for the crucifixion, but of course it was needed emphasize the importance of those who bless us (see above). Unfortunately, I haven't seen a female altar server in years, although the website says they are eligible to apply. Oh well, girls, apparently the golden sunburst won't shine on you. The choral music is professional (i.e. probably paid for), loud and never leaves a moment of silence, and along with the pastor's long, extended prayers has the elderly and infirm standing for about 10 -15 minutes without respite. I saw one elderly man give up with a large 'plop' on the wooden pew, and I considered doing the same. Did I mention I have back issues? We seniors all barely made it without crashing. If anyone has breathing issues, the addition of the constant smoky incense just adds to the discomfort. In fact, all portions of the service which involve standing have been extended to the max. I began to feel it was a control issue, and the parishoners are the constrained. An 11:00 a.m. service I attended this weekend, the music only involved a choir who seemed to sing in an unknown language during every available moment. They did sound angelic, but I wonder what kind of dent it takes out of the budget. It also overwhelmed the possibility of silent prayer, participation or joy. Their social outreach seems to be a lonely box for canned goods and toys around Christmas and a "social justice group" that prays for it. I know of a church in Westport who have a large program; feeding the homeless, adopting inner city schools, ministries, and a folk cafe to gather in. St. Catherine's has a rosary making group and a social group for seniors. St. Catherine's prayer/meditation group went kaput after the last pastor, but at least they have a nice website. Our good pastor said he will offer prayers for those who are ineligible to receive the eucharist. Who was he talking about? The pro-choice? The divorced? Me? I'm both! What ever happened to mercy and forgiveness and parishoners as church? Guess we'll have to drive to Westport if we want that.
